So ED'S any ins or outs you think will happen surely VVD to Liverpool has to start as with a new window the tapping up is a thing of the past and they can make an offer without fear of a complaint.

Saints0001

{Ed002's Note - Why would the "tapping up" be a thing of the past? The complaint still sits on file. They formally withdrew all interest at the same time they apologised - would they be withdrawing their apology? If so then an offer is possible butLiverpool have been looking elsewhere at centre backs. Southampton want to add a striker - Paco Alcacer has been trying to force a move out of Barcelona and they will accommodate that once they have a replacement - the summer would be more likely and although Southampton are interested, he will have potentially more attractive options elsewhere. A loan for Stevan Jovetic has been suggested but if he moves I think Newcastle will provide a home, thereby freeing up Aleksandar Mitrovic who would be a good option.}

1.) 14 Nov 2017 15:20:33
thanks Eds I assumed clearly wrongly that they could argue a change of position now its a different window and make some reason without fear of reprisal. As no formal offer was put forward I thought it would be difficult to prove rumour and speculation. Would love Mitrovic who has masses of potential would be cheap but is clearly a bit hot headed. Be nice to see a saints forward roughing up the defence for a change, he could develop into anything so potential which suits the model.

{Ed002's Note - It wasn't rumour and speculation, Liverpool again acted illegally and what Klopp did was entirely unacceptable. If they wish to finally make an offer for the player the owners who yet again trailed slime to the door of another side to give a grovelling apology in order to avoid charges will be an absoolute laughing stock. The complaint remains on file.}

2.) 15 Nov 2017 11:53:37
Finally, after all the speculation I was wondering where are we are all at?
As supporter's in this day and age should we remain loyal to players? Like the old days. Through think and thin or should we adapt to the mindset of players like v. v. d who clearly felt our club had or has no real desire to truly win anything over the need to make a profit first and full most!

What am I talking about? Well in my view I am bother that Shane long works like a dog in every match but hasn't been effective in doing his job ( scoring goals or helping others to score. ) yet the club sold Saido Maine who scored goals for fun without continuely work as hard in every match! as long does. Le tiss never worked hard but was supremely effective in scoring goals!

Selling saido has taking us backwards and down the league
yet our club had the so called blackbox that identify's the quality of each player. cross refrancing their quality's and desided to sell the best player of the pair for a hugh profit.

Isn't fair then that V. V. D saw this too and asking himself what are his dreams and desires. And isn't it our job to point this out to the club and ask why?

It makes no sense why let Koeman go year before his contract was up! just to cash in. While forcing another person to remain at the club he no longer wishes to be at?

It seems to me we should be asking these types of questions at the board and I am wondering our we going repeat this all over again now the club has new owners who as business minded people may wish to seek a return on their investment over the next few seasons. This the loop continues.

3.) 16 Nov 2017 16:50:11
4thelove, how can you have so little understanding of what has happened with our club in recent years with regard to koeman etc?

4.) 18 Nov 2017 11:14:14
Sorry but I am at a loss to your meaning in your reply. If you could explain why you believe I have little understanding as to what has been going on at the club we love and support.

All I am saying our club bangs on about it's blackbox using it as they do to identify the players they wish to bring into the club to help improve our team and to monitor the players we already have.

As far as I can recall Saido never asked to move on and Shane long has never scored more then 15 goals in a season so why sale saido and not long first? Saido is clearly the younger and better player.!

As for Koeman the club needs to be consistent in their approch and actions.

Koeman said himself he expected Southampton to say we are not releasing you from your contract.

Fair play to our clubs board they did say they longer wished to sale our best players at the end of last season and they stuck to their word hugh progress in that regard. But a lot of damage was done. If they continue sticking to these new approch and slipping back to old ways.

Players need faith in their teammates, manger and club alike I like to think loyalty counts for something but the last time it happen at our was when we wentdown to league one and we asked Kevin Davis to stick with us!

The new owner's will no doubt look to get their 200 million at some point but we need to pressure the board don't to do it the same way by undermining clubs currant outlook saling our better players. A ruthless approch is needed sale players quickly that don't match expectations centre forward should be scoring at lease 15 goals a season subject to injury. Shane long isn't that good of a player full stop. We should sale him in the summer and try and buy Tim winner.

{Ed001's Note - Sadio did ask to move on, just like he did when he joined you in the first place, after going on strike at RBS to force a move through.}

Reading the Liverpool forum and they are still desperate for VVD it seems. Also Clyne is being slated and they inference is as soon as they can he will be sold on as he is not wanted.

1.) 16 Oct 2017 23:08:22
I feel for luke Shaw. he's been publicly torn to shreds and looks broken. I know his 100 grand a week and perhaps questionable attitude but his talent is undeniable. hopefully he can find fitness and maybe a move that suits him.

2.) 17 Oct 2017 10:01:30
Luke Shaw .
At Southampton he was treated the Southampton Way, treated as a young man, a young man with exceptional talent . who played his heart out for us, was rarely injured or missed a game, who's fitness was never in doubt as he bombed up and down the wing = England left back.
I followed him on twitter . a game of bowling with his buddies, Nandos with his mates, golf with his mates . all the things that a 17/ 18 year old should be doing!
He moves to Manchester . what do they do, shove him in some plush City Centre hotel to live . only 'mates' around, not real mates but footballers who regard themselves as celebrities! I think the first event he attended was a boxing match (from memory) where all the Man U players had ring side seats .

That same evening there were a few of Saints players in Ceno's sat eating, chatting, no show offs, just sensible guys having a chat and giggle .

So from young man going to Nandos with his mates, playing xbox . to part of the Marketing Giant that is Man U .

He was still a boy . sad . great player . great attitude.

{Ed001's Note - Clyne was similar, moved to Liverpool and it all went to his head. The clubs made a mess of things in both cases.}

3.) 17 Oct 2017 16:38:49
It is such a shame .
I look ay Lemina we have just signed from Juventus, articulate, sociable, cheerful . plays his heart and socks off .
It seems for us, that character is a huge part of the selection process and then they are encouraged almost into a family way .
Luke Shaw didn't go from being injury free, very fit, England left back to this . shame .
Clyne was also superb .

Some of you guys have short memories, sorry . Luke Shaw was always injured when he was here with muscle strains.

16 Oct 2017 11:32:56
On a positive note think Lemina is going to be an incredible purchase whether we can hold on to him could be another issue. Seems to of adapted and is bossing the game already. Great to Gabbi back amongst the goals. Not sure what FF is doing at the moment and that has to put the fear of god into those in front of him.

Saints0001

1.) 16 Oct 2017 12:51:31
What does Charlie Austin have to do to be given a chance? 10 minutes at the end of a game is not enough. Long has had his fair share of chances. CA has to be given a run / starts in the team to show what he can do!

2.) 16 Oct 2017 13:25:44
Hi Ben, I partly agree with you what about Austin and Gabbiadini up front and Long replacing Redmond on the wing, he is certainly more direct and aggressive and would give other teams more to think about and possibly restrict them moving forward. It makes you wonder at the wisdom of selling Jay Rodrigues!
Regards vs.

3.) 16 Oct 2017 16:26:22
Good shout Vintagesaint, for me I just want to see Charlie on the pitch, and I do think it could work with Gabbi, long haworked out on the flanks for us before so yes I could see that working.

4.) 16 Oct 2017 20:35:23
Guys, all well and good saying let's play Gabbi, Shane and Charlie. but that's all 3 of our strikers! Any injuries, we're in that brown stuff.

5.) 16 Oct 2017 20:54:06
Hi staffs, I take your point but 9 points from 8 games is relegation form and if you look at our run of games over Xmas and run up we will not be picking up many points there. The only consolation is we are not the worst team by any means but let's not kid ourselves we are poor but not the worst but is that the height of our hopes and aspirations mid table mediocrity? The game is awash with money but I believe the standard of football has declined and Saints unfortunately epitomise this and it's not a complicated game and we look poor too often. Regards vs.

6.) 17 Oct 2017 03:33:19
I like this scenario but it doesn't account for Davis and I think Davis needs to be in the team. He's a massive miss for me.

7.) 17 Oct 2017 23:41:57
Hi VS. Good points again well made. Yes we need to get out of the current form. Personally, 352 with an improved Boufal could do it. But hey, who are we lol.

04 Aug 2017 22:28:14
Have been told by an ex player who is very involved at saints VVD will NOT go to Liverpool under any circumstances and the club still do not want to sell him full stop.

Saints0001

26 Jul 2017 14:20:34
Why don't saints invite sky sports and some other media outlets down and ask them to reveal their sources re VVD. It is to easy and lazy for journalists to invent a story and say a "source" they need to be challenged and held accountable. Otherwise the sports pages become an agents wage busting inflation tool.

Hiw many more years in a row are we going to regress rubbish first 60 mins against an at best average Watford team with a manager who had no wins away from home last year. this is getting a joke play some aggressive pressing attacking football at leat if we lose then we have had a go no craft no guile no idea I bet gabbiadini wishes he didn't start with the average negative play that is behind him. No wingers everyone comes inside it is awful.

Saints0001

06 Sep 2017 17:37:32
So VVD starts against Watford? What reception does he get from the fans he makes a mistake what reaction does he get? He doesn't apologise would that make a difference there is still a lot to play out in this story I think. We still don't know the players feelings towards him it's like any work environment you have to accept those you may not like or agree with. The pellegrino will have to make a big statement or the club will sooner or later to see what the future holds for him. Has he even withdrawn his request now the window has closed or does this not matter?

Saints0001

1.) 07 Sep 2017 07:35:51
Don't care. He is our best defender. If his head is right and the team accept him then he plays. Fans booing him are as bad as him when he handed in a transfer request. Draw a line under it and move on.

2.) 07 Sep 2017 15:46:06
He won't start - he has to play U23s once or twice first.

He hasn't played a match for 10 months - won't be fit enough.

27 Aug 2017 20:03:54
Adams traore anyone god if he could be coached could be world class surely someone can slow him down a pace and take a final touch.

Saints0001

17 Aug 2017 19:20:13
Krueger and pellegrino seem honest men to trust let's hope this is the future strong people with the clubs best interest at heart making brave decisions.

Saints0001

1.) 17 Aug 2017 22:00:03
I think Claude Puel was an honest man as well and I think VVD was fit enough to play during the second half of last season but had already decided he wanted to go. We employed Puel and just wonder whether we should have given him a bit more time, Probably not but we did get to our first Cup Final in 14 years.

2.) 18 Aug 2017 01:13:40
Chris I'm sorry but this is just ridiculous. You were the first one calling for Puel's head. More importantly, and this is the bit that make me truly angry, but where the hell do you get this idea that throughout last season VVD was healthy and available to play yet, ignoring all hope to save his job from fickle and pathetic fans like yourself, Puel thought he'd leave a healthy player on the sidelines for months.

{Ed001's Note - VVD was 100% injured and unable to play. There was no malingering going on.}

3.) 18 Aug 2017 11:07:11
I never ever called for Puels head and I take exception to you saying that. How can you say that, it is totally false. I think he could have done things differently but never would I say what you implied.

4.) 18 Aug 2017 11:13:01
I thought this was a banter site with people giving their opinions, seems to me I appear to be getting the mild side of hate mail no matter what I put down. I wouldn't step so low guys. Still if it makes you feel happy and justified in making the remarks you do carry on. Life's too short.

5.) 18 Aug 2017 17:42:05
You are almost exclusively negative and I take exception to you making claims with absolutely no foundation. The idea of some conspiracy to pretend our best player was injured is ridiculous and I don't know where you got it from. Maybe I came off a bit harsher than I meant to, but I stand by everything I said.

6.) 19 Aug 2017 00:34:46
The reports were that he had decided in January that he wanted to leave and told CP that and Les. What factual evidence do you have that he wasn't reasonably fit during the last few games of last season. I have none and I don't know anybody that does apart from the medical team At St. Mary's and the player himself. Seems strange that all the players that want moves have picked up a virus or have a slight knock that stops them from being available. Couthino, Jonny Evans, Berkley, Sanchez etc, etc.

7.) 19 Aug 2017 01:54:48
Lool
Saints123
That post just cracked me up .

8.) 19 Aug 2017 11:50:07
Ed has just said that VVD was 100% injured Chris. Accept when you're wrong. As with most of the things you say on here you had no foundation and were caught out in it. Shhhh now.

07 Aug 2017 09:20:43
great to see Liverpool don't want a centre back anymore. What will all there ex players have to spout to the press now. Also llalana out for 2 months and coutinho off to a big club. OH DEAR CLIPPITY hardly looking so rosey now.
saints will not sell VVD to Liverpool this season GUARENTEED.

Saints0001

1.) 07 Aug 2017 11:41:01
I'd love to see Coutinho hand in a transfer request haha
I wonder if in seeing this VVD may consider rejoining the group soon?

2.) 07 Aug 2017 16:53:12
I've read elsewhere that he's done a VVD - told Liverpool he wants to leave but hasn't handed in a transfer request! Apparently, deal has been agreed for weeks, could be unveiled by Barcelona by Wednesday. Only another rumour site, but would be hilarious.

So today same players and manager and u still don’t disagree he didn’t gloat or told you so but just reiterated his beliefs and mantra the team played well 1-11 regardless and the crowd helped. Let’s joinn forces behind him he could be anything and the Clive be anything with him. Bring back koeman are you taking the piss everyone players and staff hated him. I’d rather stick than twist at the moment.

If anyone should know about a lack of defensive capabilities it is Liverpool. They were alright testamerday as we had no attacking threat. They also had mane Henderson and Coutinho back so that wasn’t great timing from us. I don’t think it’s down to the manager as it wasn’t down to puel last year I think it’s time for a major shake up and if we can get 60 odd m for VVD after paying off the hoops we should sell him and move in . The whole team appear to be playing with fear and yet again tadic makes one mistake and Salah scores a great finish we need some out an out pace up from and that makes teams keep some players back for the break away and we don’t have that. Survival this season then we need a serious reorg after that.

CA good finisher but pace really slight contradiction there. We need a target man we never replaces pele and need someone in the mood to hold up and bring others into the ball from midfield. Buy it give Sam a chance. If u want pace bring olufelo back.

the problem with Redmond is he broke once and over ran the ball then had a 55 make in his favour and slowed down rather than get stuck in. when they break Bertrand looks to have more conviction, his game is pace so he needs to show it and push on. I like the guy and think into a real player he is however a luxury we can't afford at the moment. I would rather play Bertrand/ McQueen down the left if not boufal. if they could play every week I would play lemina/ romeu and hjoberg . Also stephens was magnificent I think he beat as many players as our attackers and defended very maturely. we sat to deep and didn't take our chances again only criticism.

I don’t like to slate players but Redmond needs dropping he was shocking yesterday he doesn’t tackle he jogs back pointing to players and has lost all confidence when attacking. Drop him and give others a chance great finishing from Austin but fitness clearly a worry puffing after 20 mins clone long and Austin be worth 50m all day.
Need : points v Leicester now playing well but not winning or getting points again. Wenger moans re time wasting his players have 100 touches and the ball is where it started.

If Guardiola is not charged with his behaviour it’s a disgrace. Redmond should if told him to f@@@ off and pushed him away. Absolutely disgraceful behaviour and and should not be allowed for any manager to treat an opponent player like that. For the red to manage time not some jumped up baldy who spends money Luke water in players and thinks he is god- clearly not after last tear.

As has been said good performance by FF last night and from the team in general games change goals and had we scored early we may have sat even deeper. And conceded more we clearly need to be more clinical and their first goal was being very picky the player in the wall moved out of the way then two deflections. Massive improvement but if we don’t win at Bournemouth means nothing we need to win every other game in the current run as a minimum.

The reality is if you make a save that’s great but you have to push the ball out of the danger area back into the box is not an option. Also keep swapping who is playing at the back is stupid hoedt could’ve made a challenge for the second goal but held back that is something game time brings. Agreed VVD is a liability with play hoedt/ Stephens/ yosh and wingbacks or 2 from 3 every week. All that free kick training videos and we get one and don’t hit the target same old same old. I would rather see VVD in midfield while romeu is banned alongside Lemina at least then someone can tidy up behind him.
