As I write, I am torn. saints twitter feed has been all about soares. Nothing about fonte. I am torn because I would have liked the club to reassure us about both returning heroes.

As it is there is a lot of speculation about fonte going to Everton or man utd? While I respect the fact that we might get 9 million for a 30 something that can't go on forever and my head tells me that this is great business. My HEART is dying.

Fonte is the last representative of our journey back. He is our beacon of loyalty. He reps what can be achieved if you stick with saints. He is the living embodiment of the saints way. A man who has now reached a professional high despite the fact he is in red and white stripes. Please stay Jose. Surely we can pay you what you deserve for all the joy and loyalty you have given us?

I wouldn't worry too much. Everton were in for Williams and Swansea said no. They are getting desperate because, apart from wages they have little to attract players. Fonte will want to lead us into Europe and I think a new wage deal will secure his services.

Yes, I can't see why anyone would want to join Everton. They don't have anything to play for. They haven't shown any progression. At least we've only showed really good progression since we came back up.

My heart AND my head says it would be terrible business. He's what holds our defence together and he has several seasons left in him. He's our club captain also, meaning that letting him go would cause severe discontent throughout the club's people and through the fans.

All that for 9 million? To lose him to another PL club?
That would be completely stupid. But then again that's what worries me. I'm hoping that the success of our gambles in the past, which each have more or less been necessitated and insured, hasn't given our board a false sense of security when it comes to things like this.

Passionate post St templar and good reading. Unfortunately in the modern game loyalty is out of the window. Only one player that I've had the pleasure and fortune to watch and had total loyalty was Matt le Tissier . The most gifted as well. Pelle went to China - not to further his career but 260,000 reasons per week .

Koeman went to Everton not because they were the better club but a 6 million reason contract. The list of players from saints that joined the exodus and reasons is endless. I personally think that there will be no further exodus this season only additions. We can only sit back and see. Keep the faith st. templar I and many others are with you in thought.
