If what CP said about Redmond is true then I wouldn't be surprised if we don't sign anyone at all. Although it does look like one more may come in but chances of getting two or more look very slim. I think one signing at most and successfully shipping out martina will conclude our business this window. And if hesketh's recent performance is anything to go by, then we might actually have our tadic competition already in the squad.
Puel does like his diamond and attacking fullbacks, so I'm thinking this could be our strongest eleven:
Forster
Cedric VVD Fonte Bertrand
Clasie
Davis Hojbjerg/ JWP
Tadic
Austin/ Redmond Long
With McCarthy, Pied, Gardos, Yosh, Targett, Romeu, Reed, Hesketh, and Jayrod at our disposal, we have cover for every position as well.
Anyway, what do you guys think of the diamond formation? I noticed some fans aren't a big fan of it but that is the tactic that got Puel's Nice to 4th 2 points behind 2nd place Lyon. Opinions?

I think probably Romeu in for Clasie to give us more cover defensively, as like you say the fullbacks will be bombing on. But imagine those two will rotate. Lots of strength in depth in the squad now.

Like the formation Vick. Bertrand will be missing for the first game at least. I think Targett will get that spot. Diamond formation looked better and better as friendly games progressed. Once mastered will be a strong competitive squad. Still think one or two new additions will come in. Onwards and upwards.

I'm not that big a fan of it at the moment as I don't think we're completely used to it and think at times that the strikers look lost in the system, with the exception of Redmond who looks quite settled in that position.

However I think with time it could be very effective and always good to know we have our 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 in our back pocket too!
