Fellow saints, do you think the news circulating about us making a bid for wimmer is an indication that the club is resigned to losing vvd or are instead looking for a fonte replacement? I'd be extremely pleased if it was the latter.

I think Stephens is are in house replacement for Fonte. Not as good yet but showing signs that he will be.
Pretty sure as per previous years we are getting a replacement lined up for VVD.
Doesn't necessarily mean he will leave straight away. We had Romeu there for a year before Wanyama was going.
Not convinced about Wimmer but I do trust our scouting system so I'll not doubt be proved wrong.

No I think it's more of a sign we are still in the market for players, personally feel 3 more could come in. I think Armstrong will come in to play behind striker. I think we will get Wimmer now that supposedly Sanchez is going to spurs and I feel we may get Roberts to. But that's probably wishful think so maybe just the two in Armstrong and Wimmer.

Just thought about it, the club never made a big deal about breaking our transfer record? So maybe we might break it again?

Got a feeling we have tried to get a CB in but been unsuccessful due to financial restraints. Centre backs of real quality are very thin on the ground around Europe and over here and the ones that are good enough we can't afford.

18 million to break our transfer fee record seems like petty cash to the big clubs and that is the problem.

Might be just testing our toes in the water. However if by some miracle we do manage to get wimmer or a quality center back and vvd gets his giant head down and gives us one more season then another defender might leave. Possibly gardos, if any suitors are there, which the eds are not aware of atm.
