We better not accept the offer of Matt Targett and a couple of millions for Dibling. Just get better players from elsewhere. I feel like Targett will become a Fraser or a Stewart.

According to TBR football we are trying to o get Stevie G as a manager.

Bro failed in Saudi ane his replacement at Aston Villa has turned that club around.

Obv not a amazing and valid source but its the most Southampton thing to do is not sign the manager we need but pick a free agent that would do something right.

Should the two current favourites become unavailable for any reason then Saints FC could turn to the well rested, proven and outstanding Coach Steve Cooper followed by Frank Lampard and Michael Carrick. KOM.

Looks like Juric isn't going to last and we are going to try get Rohl at the end of the season.

Maybe SR is starting to make the right calls.

According to David Ornestein Southampton think it's the players that is the problem not Russell Martin. And he won't be leaving anytime soon.

Imo it's both about what about you guys?

One look at RMs history of team performances and results, will tell you it’s the clown himself.
Players are we being asked to play a style that they are totally uncomfortable with, it’s draining the confidence out of them.
RM will never change because the team is playing how he always dreamed of playing .
What a clown . an absolute cocky fool

So O'Riley is actually interested in joining Southampton well he's happy to join us maybe the chance of us getting O'Riley is now kinda higher hopefully we do get him.

Losing to Burnley really does show even if we do go down to the Championship it's not going to be a quick bounce back.

Cmon guys we are better than this?

Scott Parker coaching shone through especially in. defence with c/b Joe Worrall and his organised defence showing unity. We have a similar opportunity next season to emulate this (with correct Coaching and of course retaining players like Wood, Edwards, Charles, Sugawara, Charlie Taylor and Welington.Disappointed at failure to start Gronbaek (one lost opportunity considering the possibility of retaining him at season’s end) Regarding Juric- I was amazed at the questionable choice of substitutes and very late introduction and previously referring to Jack Stephens as a “quality player”and yesterday post match saying ‘we played a good game’.After weeks of being on the. fence I’m beginning to waiver a bit and question whether or not he ( Juric) would be the best choice Manager/Trainer to.lead us into next season. Saints v Burnley resembled a practice match rather than an FA CUP TIE! KOM.

2.) 10 Feb 2025 13:21:03
I hope not I thought his contract ends at the end of the season I need Rohl. He looks like he's one of the only managers that would lead us to somewhere we will be proud off

I'm quite disappointed in this transfer window. I expected to get actually prolific players. Players we can rely on to score goals and defend. Loaning out Sam-amo to Strasbourg with a potential buy wasn't a good choice imo. If he does become quite good he's just going to go to Chelsea for a much cheaper price cause of the blueco group.

Feels like we got under-21 signings not signings to help us in this relegation battle if you can call it a battle as we are a long way from survival

I don't know what's happened but a few years ago we started making quite poor signing like Stewart and selling Alcaraz who's now at Everton.

Honestly, I think we need to find some better recruitment I don't know who left in that department but we aren't signing the right players. A striker with 0 goals is not a good signing imo.

However I could be wrong.

This was my main reasons for keeping Ralph because as amazing as Pochetino (and he was, I'd have him back in a heart beat) he came to us during a golden era. We had a stellar/world class youth team, decent scouting/recruitment and the right board backing us, all of which would have helped Poch massively.

Then Koeman came along and rode that same wave a little too or what was left but was also savy enough to bring all the emerging talent from Holland along with him.

Since and towards the end of Koeman the whole background process has been in decline. When Ralph came along however I saw glimpses and evidence of what we had before. I won't pretend to know fully how recruitment works or just how much the process relies on the manager but all I know is when Ralph was here we were making some decent signings and more importantly keeping them and looking like they wanted to stay.

2.) 04 Feb 2025 18:50:43
I agree Leslee, I think ever since since Ralph possibly 2018-2019 the club has fallen off massively. Recruitment hasn't been what it used to be. As you mentioned I also won't pretend I'm an expert at recruitment but there's a clear difference in the players we are signing. Udoh may be a baller but with zero goals to his name are we just doing a downes here? Personally I would really invest in scouts and probably find someone to actually help us lock down 'good' players.

02 Feb 2025 11:47:49
Very deserved win for us. Possibly there is a chance of survival but are weakness still is our defence slightly

Also does anyone know what's going on with ABK he is imo a good defender for us but juric isn't using him neither did Martin just wondering is this a player issue or just he's 'not good enough' to make the team

I do agree that Juric isn't the man for the job and that we all will be calling for his head however your thoughts on keeping RM is just confusing. We are on track to be the worst premier league team in history due to the stats. RM staying would've 100% lead us to beating derbys record and yay 2 totally amazing records to hold as a team. 1. Losing 9-0 (twice) 2. Lowest points in a premier league season

I do agree however Juric is going to suck at managing us and the board just wanted a cheap management but our board sucks. It should've been down to:

Hjulmand
Coberan
Rohl
Moyes
Big Sam

I saw maybe 1 article about juric but I guess they were right.

Praying Juric has a turnover and does manage us well

My mentality was always with this board and how they approach things. I'm a solid believer that everything occurs at the highest level.

The board broke to supporter pressure early doors when they were new to this club with fans wanting Ralph out, ironically where all this messed started. I knew then this board were weak with choices. Ralph was a solid builder, signed some best emerging talent of our post Porch/Koeman era. They had no one decent lined up to replace him but made a list nonetheless. Ivan Juric was actually second on that list, Nathan Jones was above him.

My point about RM is yes he's bad (at times) but there was always times things could have turned around. Then once we got to the point of no return I decided to stick with him again, not necessarily because he would save us from relegation but because I believe he WOULD get us promoted. I don't believe we are safe now and I think our board will arse about again with the next appointment in the championship, but by that time promotion will have passed us by because I don't think Juric has the minerals to mix it up in different leagues and it will be too late before the board realize that.

My thinking was towards 2026/27. If the board wanted to be a serious one they would use RM for his strengths (the championship) and get rid of him when gets us back where we needed (the Premiership) spending that whole year analyzing and scouting the right man, just like the cortese board did.

2.) 23 Dec 2024 14:59:38
I agree with you the board have a lot to answer for. I think most people agree with your points.

3.) 23 Dec 2024 17:38:28
You know what Leslee,

As much as I didn't agree with your other posts I kinda agree with you here I genuinely believe everyone since the club sacked Ralph things have been dire and I believe Ralph never should've been sacked yes he lost 9-0 twice however he always managed to rescue us out of the championship if you were going to sack him it should've been at the end of that season

And the team Ralph had was solid and could beat the team we have now. However I understand keeping RM would've been good for the championship however I think the board is trying a hail Mary to lose that title of lowest points in premier league history and trying to get us out of relegation as RM was sticking to his guns on a style of play which wasn't working. In my eyes he had to go for this reason also which you may disagree with but I do believe in miracles and could see us out.

However, even since we sacked Ralph we've been singing managers that clearly ain't capable of rescuing us from relegation fights.

A key example being Nathan Jones.

We were linked to a couple of good managers and out comes to club to say we've signed someone from the championship. It worked with RM because we were in the championship and now it's not working in the premier league.

We needed a premier league manager and they are solid managers that we could've signed instead of juric. Even more capable managers that have a track record of helping improve teams. However, we chose a manager that's been sacked 3 times by the same club. I think the board are the people to blame for the clubs downfall. We might've thought SR will fix the club because Gao did barely anything but I think SR will be just as bad as SR sure we have more money in the transfer market but we haven't really utilised it well have we.

It's going to be tough times ahead and a long way to return Southampton back to a regular premier league club let alone return Southampton to it's 2016 glory.

If we look at Brighton right now look how good they are now and they were on the same level if not lower a few years back. The board has to be there and a solid manager none of which we have at this point.

4.) 23 Dec 2024 17:59:28
I do apologise for any spelling errors I've been writing this on a phone and I've got fat thumbs. ?

5.) 23 Dec 2024 19:48:58
Incredibly, I also found a hint of sanity in Lesleee’s most recent post - perhaps like Christmas, it comes once a year!

However, the logic in keeping RM on the basis that he will get us relegated and then bounce us back from the Championship is so seriously flawed, it’s laughable.

Setting up a team to fail is just crazy - what impact on players, fans, not to mention financial risk and reputation.

Whatever way you slice it, the only option to take over RM should have been a PL manager. What chance the new man will not add another sack to his growing collection before Easter?

Actually, I don’t think the Board know whether it’s Christmas or Easter!

6.) 24 Dec 2024 22:01:57
It must be Christmas if people are agreeing with me, even slightly lol.

With RM I could see the joke he was, but he has some me things on his side. Age for one .there's always a slim chance he would learn/adapt. People like Moyes, alladyce, Mourinho.names all people were throwing in the ring are old dogs. Sure they've got it experience to maybe save us but they haven't got what it takes to evolve/merge into what today's football is turning into. It's why they keep getting sacked and why the same fans asking for them would be calling for their sack a year later.

The other thing RM is pretty much guaranteed promotion. I know we rode out luck the first time. But the experience of getting it done the first time and the battle hardened experience of the premiere league would have helped him.

We don't have any guarantees now as far as I can see. Although I will put my hand up for one exception/unknown quantity.and that is wether Juric can bring Bella-kotcha into the fold and getting him playing at his best. Him on form and Ramsdale does make for a half decent defense.

JWP looks like he's going Nottingham First so unlikely now to grab him as west ham rather would gain money over a loan

I think we need a midfielder a striker and a keeper. Keeper Ramsdale on loan seems likely O' Riley doesn't it looks like that as we are interested in getting Carvahlo and since bigger clubs are now interested in Matt. Striker wise I think Gnonto should be nabbed Leeds are in the championship Summerville has been nabbed by the hammers and Galatasaray have got Sara from Norwich. And Gnonto is a good striker in the championship when we were there. So I think he'll be good in the prem for us

As for Ramsdale it's going to be tough to get him probably I think Newcastle is our opponent to get his signature but as Newcastle have Pope already I think we technically have an upper hand.

There also is De Gea who is old but is free only issue is his contract he recently rejected a move to real betis over the contract

I think O'Riley will definitely be a hard player to secure he openly said he prefers Atalanta and why wouldn't he they'll be playing Champions League I believe. However, I believe that Atalanta want him to be Koopmeiners replacement so if he doesn't leave will Matt be on the bench? I guess we'll see

Another potential big signing that we allegedly are interested in is youssoufa moukoko young talented striker from Dortmund wants to leave and allegedly wants to come abroad it will be a challenge to get him hur if he could we definitely will have a team that should be mid table if not just scraping into the top 10.

Also another player we are allegedly interested in the Amad Lauriente not much to say really comes from sassulo so I guess they speak Spanish which can help Alcaraz settle in a bit more comfortably.

Same here, People are feeling bad for me and saying we will tear up the championship but I don't think we will.

Honestly, The club should pull out of the prem save ourselves from embarrassment. I'd rather face the title of worst premier League team ever now than later.

Juric wasn't the one, and is one of the key examples of how Southampton wastes money. We waste it on players that do nothing like BBD. And sold players like Alcaraz. Managers like Juric and Jones. RM. Why did we sack Ralph? Looking back this is a key turning point for the worse.

Hopefully, we can beat Chelsea as my manager is a Chelsea fan but zero hope for me. I'm just going to run the rest of the season on delusion.

Charly needed to stay, I think he wanted top flight but is the Brazilian league top flight football? The club should've just loaned him out but we sold him and got BBD and Archer instead

Suitable replacement? I think not. Primarily for BBD.

Transfers is one thing the club needs to fix you can't expect survival if you sell a prem player and buy a championship one for the starting 11

RM had to go les, we would've been in worse conditions if he still was at the helm. The current condition of the club really is just a mix bag of not good enough players and the fact that most our good players left the club last season when we went down. Look at Alcaraz already scored in the prem. I get he wanted to leave but they club could've loaned him out again or worked around it.

What the club keeps doing is selling our best players and then signing a terrible replacement. Carillo being a prime example.

If we go down we need to start fresh and have a clean slate. Clean up the messes of the club. If we don't I don't even think we will be in the automatic promotion at this rate.

Hopefully in summer we find the pieces to put the puzzle together such as new capable staff and some standout players and as much as I don't mind juric I hope we get Rohl instead.

Probably both, I expect a hard reset if we get relegated into the championship. A proved manager, a proved squad with capable players and a new philosophy. Ever since Ralph left transfers have been wayward. We really haven't had a stand out player in the prem apart from dibling and Rambo.
