Hi ed's any news on Ron vlaar, contract is up in a few days and would be an excellent addition to the squad
{Ed001's Note - he is away doing charity work at the moment, I believe in India. Once he gets back, which should be in the next few days, he is going to speak to Villa before making a decision. At least that is what he has said to Villa.}

According to reports this morning Chelsea aren't looking at Toby as an option, it's athletico that want Filipe luis and are offering Toby in exchange. Chelsea want money for luis to pursue other interests.

I don't think Toby would want to go there either, similar to Bertrand he just wants to play his football. Were it to happen though there's always the chance that Chelsea would consider loaning him to us for the season. As for Spurs supposedly they aren't looking to overspend this summer, so unless they sell one of their best assets, I don't think they'd necessarily put the money up front like we could after we sell Morgan or Clyne. And that's another point, they may want a deal for Morgan more than Toby, very much doubt they'd do both.

Just because it's not plastered all over the media doesn't mean the club haven't been busy trying to get players in. Remember the player we buy are ones that will fit straight into our team and system . No point buying someone for the sake of buying someone.

30years I've been a saints fan and not once have I thought at pre season we were in with a chance of winning the league, why? Because we're not a big club with a big stadium and big wages competing with the elite. We are Southampton a family club who nurture youngsters in the art of football. We need to be realistic and take our place as a we'll run club with sustainability, long term. Success may come in the future if we have large amounts of investment but we will not risk our community club for short term gains. We will keep punching and slowly build until we're seen as a worthy contender for investers. Then maybe the stadium will come and the profits will rise then the wages can be adjusted and players will not use us as a stepping stone anymore. Support the badge for all it represents not for glory from greed.

Chelsea won the league as the only team to use all 3 subs every game (so far) . We would of struggled even more with injury and fatigue if he hadn't of rotated, he's been a europa league coach for years and that was one of his selling points that the club looked at when appointing him,
Our squad has massively increased in quality over recent years and all players are pretty much on a level setting when it comes to match day. They train 4-5 days a week together and all know that it's a team game, you may be in one week but sat on the bench the next. Imagine if we had no injuries . Who would you play and who would be benched thinking I could get a game somewhere else.
