Reading that Marin Pongracic to Saints all but done. Any truth in this, Eds?

{Ed002's Note - He is certainly leaving this month.}

1.) 13 Jan 2020 15:05:46
Saints might be his destination?

{Ed002's Note - Yes, because others have been dropping off the list.}

2.) 13 Jan 2020 15:38:02
We've apparently been looking at him for quite a while.

{Ed002's Note - Not seen as anything special and way down the list of CB targets.}

3.) 13 Jan 2020 18:49:37
Surely pongracic must be a improvement on yoshida and vestergard ed.

{Ed002's Note - I am not going to try to compare players. The point is that he was way down southampton's list.}}

4.) 13 Jan 2020 22:36:29
Who was top of the list then ed.

{Ed002's Note - I gave you the list of players Southampton were keen on.}

5.) 14 Jan 2020 19:25:06
He has just signed for wolfsburg.

6.) 15 Jan 2020 05:32:53
Indeed he did.

03 Jan 2020 10:09:05
Hi, Eds. Any info about players Saints are seriously trying to sign this month? Read something about Maehle and Salisu, but are they just made up stories? Todibo rumours out of range?

{Ed002's Note - I cannot answer the "seriously" aspects but there has been interested in a number of players.
Joakim Maehle (RB) has been of previous interest to Southampton, Burnley and Fiorentina and is available at the right price - and Southampton remain keen.
Marc Guehi (CB) want him to replace Vestergaard - plus an offer to buy from Nottingham Forest and a loan offers from Norwich and Bristol City.
Lewis Gibson (CB) A couple of minor injuries, and game time has dried up so the player has to consider options which include old club Newcastle, Southampton, Brighton and Rangers.
Mohammed Salisu (CB) Norwich are very keen on taking the Valladolid centre back in January but may face opposition from Southampton and Everton. Manchester United and Valencia have been credited with scouting the player by his club.
Jean-Clair Todibo (CB) will only be sold with a buy-back clause and €25M - plenty of interest but Barcelona do not see him as good enough - will be available in January and is being offered around to clubs including Everton, Inter, Manchester United. But Milan already in talks and interest from Bayer Leverkusen and Southampton.
Morgan Sanson (CM) very unlikely
Yari Verschaeren (AM) interesting Lille and Southampton, there may be efforts to seek a move in January for fear of Anderlecht facing sanctions.
Ben Chrisene (M) also wanted by Chelsea
Eberechi Eze (RW)

1.) 03 Jan 2020 13:14:15
Thanks, Eds! Plenty of names 😊.

2.) 03 Jan 2020 21:58:52
Seen a rumour about Lallana rejoining Southampton in July and will be announced next week. Do you know if there is any truth to that Edd's please?

{Ed002's Note - Not as far as I know.}

3.) 03 Jan 2020 22:24:03
Ok thanks, thought I'd ask a mate sent it to me from Twitter.

4.) 05 Jan 2020 12:33:31
Thank God for that. Wouldn't offer anything and too injury prone anyways.
I hope Danso's loan be made permanent.
Earlier this season after Targett leaving I've been wanting a LB to cover or compete with Bertie but Vokins might just be the answer for now. If we get a RB then Cedric is off.

5.) 05 Jan 2020 21:03:58
I've seen comments from Cedric saying he is off at the end of the season regardless.

08 Jul 2019 07:38:16
Hi Eds, just noticed in the site that in the first team list there is no place for Carrillo and Hoedt. They must be moving away? Any fresh info about their transfers? I also assume Austin, Lemina, Stephens, Gallagher and either McCarthy or Forster free to leave, if the right offer comes. Any info about them?

{Ed002's Note - My notes say that the following are available:
Fraser Forster (G)
Cedric Soares (RB)
Wesley Hoedt (CB)
Steven Davis (CM)
Sofiane Boufal (LW)
Guido Carrillo (S)

1.) 08 Jul 2019 10:58:15
Davis has gone to ranger's permanently ed.

{Ed002's Note - Right.}

2.) 08 Jul 2019 12:13:29
steven davis is a rangers player.

3.) 08 Jul 2019 13:19:21
Thanks, Eds. Sees like Lemina as well as he has been left out from trip to Austria.

4.) 08 Jul 2019 21:14:49
Apparently Lemina has told Saints that he wants to leave.

27 Jan 2019 20:25:06
Any truth in Rogerio rumours, Ed?

{Ed002's Note - Che Adams is taking up the efforts at this time.}

1.) 28 Jan 2019 11:57:18
Thanks Ed! Che Adams move likely to happen?

{Ed002's Note - I cannot anser "likely" questions but Southampton are working on it.}

2.) 29 Jan 2019 12:28:26
Burnley apparently looking at ache Adams too.

3.) 31 Jan 2019 13:19:03
Burnley have apparently made a second bid for Adams (declined) not sure that Saints will get themselves into a bidding war. In any event I see Adams as a long term investment rather than a short term fix. Other options will become available come the summer.

31 Jul 2018 09:56:20
Any INs/ OUTs before the window shuts, Eds? Targett? Lemina? Any CB? Any striker? (OUT) How about INs? Are we still in for the CB? Santos, Mina? Wingers? Ghezzal? Kostic? Any new AMC/ ST coming? Seems Forster will go out on loan to Burnley.

{Ed002's Note - It remains more or less as I explained.}

1.) 01 Aug 2018 12:24:18
Apparently we are now interested in Moussa Marega from Porto (22 goal in 29 games last year) for about £22m.

And Newcastle/ West Brom talks over Rondon have broken down.

Regardless of whether Fulham sign Targett or not surely we have to make a strong effort to bring in a striker.

Haven't we?

2.) 02 Aug 2018 14:29:24
We are very stupid if we let Targett go. We are crying out for another CB. Apart from Vestergaard all the other CBs just not good enough for the PL and Hughes likes to play with 3 CBs.

We also need a striker. Austin and Gabbi are good enough, but we need a target striker! Long haven't convinced. Sam is?

Another winger wouldn't hurt either. Moi clearly good enough for the PL. Armstrong looks bright! Davis and Romeu are?

3.) 02 Aug 2018 20:12:56
I'd really love to know where Sam Gallgher stands with saints.

I think he's looked bright in the small number of minutes sparky has given him and I don't think he could do any worse than Shane Long unfortunately. He's played tough Championship football with struggling sides that have had managerial changes left, right and centre and still managed to score a handful. Albeit, hasn't scored a huge number but has had difficult cirumstances on loan to Blackburn and Birmingham who both struggled for form at the time.

I'd be very disappointed in Saints if they were to let him go because it seems like a prime oppurtunity for his chance in the squad. Although I agreed it would be a risk, but I want to see Saints go back to when we were taking chances on our homegrown players because it has paid off. I'd also like to mention whilst i'm on the subject that Targett has been absolutely fantastic in this pre season and needs to be kept in my opinion and i'm really hoping Targett, Gallagher, Sims, Reed and McQueen get their chances this season and do us proud.

That's my thoughts on some of our younger players and homegrown players, i'm not saying they should be starting just because they're from our academy, all i'm saying is that they may have something to offer.

First time poster so be nice lol.

4.) 03 Aug 2018 03:09:53
We have to keep Targett. His stint at Fulham sparked his confidence and we saw glimpses of what he could do when Koeman temporarily switched to a back three back then. Shift Bertrand to the left of a back three or sign Gibson, let Targett and McQueen battle out the left wingback spot. Find a buyer for Long and sign a proper target man.

5.) 03 Aug 2018 05:36:55
Agree totally with both previous replies. I'd keep all the mentioned "youngsters".

Only problem with Bertie on LCB is that he's best going wide forward and sending inch perfect crosses like the one for McQueen in Celta game. Even though he might be our best CB after Vestergaard.

Lille's RB in rumours so maybe Cedric leaving?

But we have many questionmarks. Yoshi? Bednarek? Hoedt? Stephens? Romeu? Davis? Redmond? Long? Currently good enough for the PL?

6.) 03 Aug 2018 17:41:38
Romeu is perfectly good enough for the prem.
Redmond simply needs more fan support and the right coaching. he's 24 so has time on his side. Long needs to go and probably Davis only really on account of his age. Stephens Bednarek and Hoedt also need the fans behind them more. Yoshi can still do a decent job but wouldn't be problem if he goes. I believe generally that this transfer windows been good, at least better then last one and players in general need more belief and support instead of crap aimed at them. like to see youth used more this year.

7.) 03 Aug 2018 17:48:26
Think we're being a bit harsh on Stephens here. There's potential there, and CB's often develop later.

It's time to just keep Gallagher and see what happens. The loan system serves a purpose, but it's time for him to sink or swim. That doesn't mean start him, it just means keep him around and give him whatever opportunities he can earn in training (Cup games, injury fill-ins, etc. ) .

8.) 04 Aug 2018 13:19:36
3 of our centre backs are very young and all have great potential. Most CBs don’t fully develop until they are in their middle 20s.

Busy week, two players IN, one OUT. Any other IN deals Saints are working on, Eds?

{Ed002's Note - I cannot answer "working on" type questions.}

13 Jul 2016 18:22:15
Pied transfer collapses. Any idea, Ed's, whose next right back in line? Is Barcelona still interested in signing Cedric?

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what these words mean. Sorry.}

No thank you to Clyne, Lallana and Schneiderlin. They all ruined their careers by leaving us, why on earth should we help or care them a bit? As Vick said, Maehle looks much more likeable and fits into Saints' transfer policy.

{Ed001's Note - Clyne ruined his career due to his lifestyle.}
