Good player. But high wages, high transfer fee, 29 years old - no sell on value, and I'm not certain where he'd fit in. He's not a like-for-like for the Schneiderlin role.

Stranger things have happened, but I'm not sure this link is realistic.

Stekelenberg is a no go because of wage demands, we've been linked with Szczesny and Tom Heaton, and a few more left field options from foreign clubs but still all speculation currently.

Two Scandinavians have been linked, Orjan Nyland and Lukas Hradecky, first choice keepers for Norway and Finland respectively. Quite young (24-25), experienced, cheap internationals.

If Saints can't get a loan in, either of these seem realistic signings.

Personally, I'd wait and see what happens with Begovic at Stoke. If he stays, then presumably Jack Butland will be available for a season loan.
