As for summer signings, I reckon most will be foreign sadly, but I think these would be good and not too expensive:
RB: Ryan Taylor/Danny Shimpson
LB: Wayne Bridge/Stephen Warnock
CDM:Jake Livermore/Tom Huddlestone
LW: Scott Sinclair/Andrew Surman
RW: Henry Lansurbry/Matt Phillips
ST: Jordan Rhodes/Charlie Austin
I honestly think these are really underated players who we could get for under 5m each, we need some experienced players to be good role models for young player like Shaw and Prowse, RB & LB would probs cost 1m each, CDM would probably be more like 4-5m, LW & RW Sinclair & Phillips would probably be 4-5m but Surman & Lansurbry maybe 2-3m and Austin & Rhodes who have both consistently been goalscorers probably 4-5m too, I reckon this is all we need as this would provide great cover and enable us to push on next season, and we'll need a big squad if we get into Europe through the fair play system, not saying these are rumours or that it's going to happen but it's what I'd like to see
Don't see any of those. MP has indicated he will be looking for high quality players to enhance the squad. Don't see any of your suggestions likely to fit that mould.
I think they would, they don't have to be foreign with a massive price tag from abroad to be a good player
Poch has said he will only buy players better than we already have some of these wouldn't make the match day squad let alone get anywhere near the first 11
I'll have what you're smoking.
Tom Huddlestone is a donkey. Ask any Spurs fan.
Seems to be some ridiculous suggestions to me and then some recycled ideas from last summer. Think really our of all those I'd only give a real look into to one of them which is Matt Phillips as he has been a good pacey young winger this season.
Think that we will only see top signings in the summer to add strength to our already good squad. Hope for a budget in the region of 30 million for the summer so we can bring in 2 or 3 serious improvements as well as a few to add depth to our side.
This is the rubbish. wouldn't enhance the squad at all. Its the kind of thinking that will condemn us to an annual relegation battle.
They would act as cover! WHAT'S THE POINT OF SPENDING LOADS OF MONEY ON A RESERVE WHEN ALL OF THESE WILL BE ON THE CHEAP! and so none of you would want Scot Sinclair who is class, Phillips and the two strikers have potential to make it into out first team in the future, don't know why everyone is so obsessed by foreign player when actually I think all our best signings have been British, in Clyne & Rodrigues, obviously Yoshida and Boruc have been good too and we're yet to see the best of Ramirez, and I think some of these addition would enhance the squad as well as adding depth because otherwise we'll do a Newcastle and do poor in the league if we get into Europe, you can't cover all the area we need cover with 2-3 players, and probably wouldn't stay within the financial fair play system if we we're trying to sign all these expensive foreign players
Think about it we need a 2 full backs to add cover, 2 winger to add cover for punch and lallana, CDM cover and another striker and if there all gunna be "so highquality" that's gunna cost over your 30m budget there
We don't need to sign an entire new squad, the team we have had this year has proven it's metal, we need to bring in 2 or 3 serious improvements which should take up to 20 million and then a further 2 or 3 who can act as competition for places and be improvements on some of our fringe players within a budget around 6-8 million.
Why would any of those players want to join Southampton anyway
Sigh! oh well, at least it looks this year's endless debate won't be about adding prem league experience. Anyone thought about how much money we're spending on our youth set-up and how successful Poch was, in this respect, at Espanyol. Think a few people are struggling to get up to speed with our Chairman's ambitions. Not sure we want/need Europe this year and if we do I hope we play our U21's! Oh! and we want the best, wherever they come from, and the best foreign players are often cheaper than the best in Britain.
