Guys, i am an Avid Saint and like the rest of you, visit this site regularly (in anticipation more than anything else). I regularly read about positions we need and agree, both a LW and RW is as important as is a CB. Watching the game against city (with which in fairness, i was expecting a drumming, and yet being over the moon at the 3-2 loss really did please me). I agree that both the LW and RW are important as i beleive that (away from home) that no-one can play in those positions if we want to play AL in the center, whilst allowing either RL or JR to play with freedom up the front. When at home, we can move AL out to the left, allowing MS and SD to have total freedom in the middle. As much as i love S der R, i can't see him having much to say this season, especially with rumour signings coming in. CB is a MUST, but i trust the LB is fine! Are we forgetting the impact that Bale made all those years ago... I beleive Shaw is more than capable in Foxies absence. I am really looking forward to this season and COYR

Ramirez deal is off, the talks between Bologna and Saints have broken down and they have stopped negotiations.
Source is the journalist who first broke the news and the local journalist for Bologna

Yes, and the journalist thought he'd tell you before doing his job and reaping the glory of releasing it to the world.

Tbf seen couple of stories backing this up, one was saying it's on verge of collapse and the other said that saints offered a suitable amount but just spreading out the payments to much. I'm hoping it's bull

"The journalist who first broke the news"
You know him well enough for him to tell you this breaking news before reporting it himself. Yet you don't know his name other than "the journalist". Brilliant.

Yeah it is dead, as soon as gaston opened his mouth it was over. onto other targets sadly

I'm sorry but it is not over. He's interested in Southampton and it seems his club are close to an agreement.

I'm sorry but no one who is prepared to shell out £12-£16 million on something would then decide to pull out because someone "opens their mouth".
It's happening. Ramirez is coming over to Southampton as we speak. Last think to confirm is the timeline when the sum is paid. Bologna want a reasonable chunk upfront, and some add ons to come after appearances. Saints want to lower the upfront payment and negotiate add ons.

Now we look to have signed Ramirez and Phillips and sorted our wingers out! We need to look at 2cb and a LB! A good bargain would be Michael Dawson from Tottenham and then another CB as cover also a new LB!
But definetly Dawson!

I have to doubt all of this is true. We are kept to a budget we wouldn't go for all of these. I think Ramirez will be completed but other than that I'm not sure much of this is founded.

The third party in buttner deal was man utd, don't know why they didn't just say It was them {Ed001's Note - maybe it was to avoid tapping up accusations?}

Man u wind me up the way they do things, fergie thinks he can do what ever he likes and has been around long enough to know all the loopholes in the rules to get what he wants. This looks like a blatant tap up to me but id bet nothing is said about it at all {Ed003's Note -glass houses,springs to mind!}

It's like this, their's transfer rules, then their's Fergie's rules...

Most important player we need is a quality CB we have midfielders we have class strikers, Ramierez and Phillips would be a good addition but we definalty need a CB maybe Mathew Upson but im expecting a top class foreigner to come in. Saints never disclose there potential signings but im hearing that we do have 50m to spend so lets see. 50m im told is over the whole season so if we blow it now no money in January. i thinks thats why we are being coy at the moment and not just signing anyone...........as for Buttner it asks the question was the iron in the fire when saints agreed to sign him and he or agent heard from representatives from manchester utd?? As this deal could not of been put together overnight !! Man utd have a habit hijacking potential signings for others.

So 50 million starting point? 2mil on Clyne, 7mil on Jay Rod, 1mil on Gazzaniga and 800k on Davis. Then about a mil in transfers out with Harding and co so we'll say we're at about 10mil spent. 40 million pounds left we can afford Ramirez... 15 million for him leaving 25 million we should get some talent for that.

Normal fan, very happy with yesterday and hopeful for the season. Just looked at odds for season and noticed adkins 4/1 for first managerial change vs Hughes next best at 7/1. Not a rumour but to me seems strange, would invite comment {Ed003's Note - Just normal for a promoted teams manager and a manager who could be seen to be under pressure to be favourites,don't read anything into it at all}

Really picking on the wrong manager for their odds. The fans have warmed well to Adkins. After everything he's done for the club and how impressive he's shown himself to be the board would find it very tough to loose him.

A good solution would be to bet a tenner on Hughes then win £70

For me, it is very tough to choose this season. It really depends on momentum. I thought Clarke would be favourite but they stuffed Liverpool 3-0 or Laudrup and they're top after stuffing QPR 5-0 away!
QPR have spent a lot and I thought they'd cruise saftey so if they keep that horror show up, it will be Hughes.
I think Adkins was rightfully one of the favourites as we have a hell of a run-in and it's always hard to chase in the Prem. Also Corteze is a hard man to please. You talk of fans favourite... wasn't Pardew too?
My first picks would have been

You couldn't have accounted for Parew getting sacked. It was down to the fact he couldn't keep his attention just on the football if you know what I mean
