I must say from what I have seen so far in pre season the player ( and never thought I'd say this ) that has impressed me the most has been Tadic . He seems to actually start looking like the excellent player we were led to believe he was . May long it continue!

Surprising how an injury can hold you back?

Supporters really ought to have a little more empathy with our players who are playing on whilst carrying an injury. When they are doing so we should be praising their commitment, not slagging them off.

Tadic tore up defences in the first part of last season. Loads of assists! I honestly think the groin injury affected him a lot more than we realised. Keep him fit and he is our main creative source through the middle

Not a coincidence that Tadic was the guy RoKo wanted to sign as quick as possible. Injury plus getting up to speed with EPL in first season has been VERY underestimated. Not sure how good Messi would look in his first season in EPL, especially if he was carrying an injury.

Just have a feeling that Lionel Messi would have probably held his own pretty comfortably! However I know what you mean .

Not sure why people are disagreeing with U there Chris loll. Leo could have a leg amputated and still be a 15+ goals a season player.

Just one of those things Esso , I could put down the Pope is a Catholic and people would disagree with me . Obviously I have some views that they won't accept are my way of looking at things which is what I thought this banter site was all about .

I don't understand why we're going in for James Chester. He was part of a defence that got relegated. He's also only 5ft 11. A lot of better options out there for us.

Kelvin Davis & Stekelenburg were part of a defence that got relegated. Schneiderlin & Lallana although not defenders were also relegated

Good players get relegated all the time, it's not indicative of how good they are or could be, with that said though, I'd rather one of the Dutch CB's we've been linked to if we're not using Yoshida as our starter

Because we aren't. We made an enquiry. They want too much.

New quotes from Fonte saying the club could do with another two or three signings, namely the centre back we are all expecting and the defensive midfielder a lot of us would like to happen!

Still no giveaways on players, but there is certainly some matter of fact with this statement given that last season both Jose and Kelvin were kept in the loop on our transfer dealings by Koeman.

Fonte doesn't seen to think we can replace through the Academy; namely Reed & the two Jack's. Obviously wants us to buy.

I think Koeman said in a roundabout way the same thing, believing it will be better for Jack Stephens and Jordan Turnbull's development to get more game time out on loan. Harrison Reed will still get his fair share of matches, but it's clear we need a more hardened DM more in the mould of Wanyama.

Remember that Victors contract is coming to an end so cover could also be sensible in this respect.

Missing out on alderweireld has clearly messed our transfer plans up, no plan b all eggs in one basket. Anyone else think Kurt zouma on season loan would be a good signing. That gives us another season to find our main defensive target. And stop us panic buying and wasting 10 million on James Chester.

Totally agree wrote near identical post the day after toby went, promptly got chastised by the 'only positive' ones on here, Les reed cocked up there should have been at least 3 cb targets lined up in case toby left , so shortsighted exactly same as the Shane Long situation. panic, panic, panic, james chester 10m lol

Been saying this since the Toby saga unfolded, if we had identified replacements why are they not with us now?
We need at least 2 CD's to replace Toby and now Florin GardosI don't know whether Zouma would be my preferred choice though
But we need someone in by the end of July, just in case of further injuries, as I don't buy youth as a replacement, neither Jack or Jordan are good enough for this level (yet)

Just shooting the breeze, but it could have been that other targets went before the 11pm phone call the day before Les was flying out to conclude the deal for Toby, Vlarr got injured and Celtic will wait until they know about CL qualification.

So out of our'black box' all it came up with is vlaar and vvd, think les needs a new updated black box then, all you with anti negative opinions need to take both sides of the coin instead of taking it your always right

Agree2 Disagree1

25 Jul 2015 14:34:34
Dsj how the hell do u know what the black box has or hasn't thrown up?!?!? What, so the papers came up with 2 names so that must mean we've only found 2 players? Seriously get a grip!! The papers also said vlaar was nailed on to sign for us and was having a medical last Sunday when actually he was having a knee op and he's not going to play for the 4-5 months! The board has already come out and said they want to do their business differently to say, Liverpool, who leak stories left right and centre and try to unsettle players before even putting in a bid!

You're so pessimistic you even say "anti negative" instead of "positive" lol! It's laughable!

Laughable!! Yes the people on here who say it as they feel albeit in a negative manner sometimes like myself, qwertyell and others whereas the others who seem to be yes positive but 'anti' the people like us, its a banter forum with varying views good or bad, I love saints as much as you milky or st christopher but I along with others don't feel a, we don't jave given quality in u21 like previous years, b, a cb should have been bought in already, and c, your comment about blackbox was I simply responded to joff about bidding on vlaar/vvd, so chill and we will see what next 2 weeks bring

Now that was a spot on assessment dsj20v.
One thing for sure is that we ALL love the Saints and were ALL passionate about them and that's a positive that overrides all negatives.

This is a great forum and everyone makes their contribution (in their own unique ways),
best wishes to All Saints fans

Negative posts are fine, but when you start going off on one about Reed or Katharina not doing a good job or saying the players we've brought in are not as good as the ones who've gone, without seeing them play or whatever other rumour/neggie thought you can come up with, with no basis or proof (quite the opposite in fact) gets a bit sad and us 'positives' (cause remember, it's a bad thing to actually enjoy supporting a football club now) have to say something

25 Jul 2015 18:06:59
Here's a suggestion. Let's get rid of RoKo and bring in someone who knows about CBs! Then we could have a plan B.

It really is pathetic how some supporters lose sight of the facts and disappear into their own (negative)fantasy world.
