I think we're in our best ever position to sign players at the moment due to our high league position! I think we should take advantage of it! I think if we're being fussy we need another keeper, RB, and AM to have a very good all round squad a long a new contract for Corky, so we don't lose any of our quality CM's. I think we should go for someone like Shaqiri, as he's available and would be perfect for us! I think we'll be okay for strikers as we'll have J Rod and Gallagher coming back. Gallagher soon apparantly. For RB I think Sam Byram who we were linked to in January would be perfect, and for keeper, I think someone young and up and coming would be good, not sure who though, any thoughts? Obviously need to get Alderverield and Bertrand on permanants too, wouldn't mind this oddenguard bloke too!

I see RK put out some feelers recently in a press conference to some Scouse bloke. I've heard he is poor at back passes when it matters in an England shirt and is prone to slipping over at key moments but aside from that (and the fact he is older than most buildings) he might just be the AM we need?

People keep cracking on about Sam Gallagher, what has he ever done apart from coming in when Lambert or JRod were injured. He is still learning and is not this star striker you seem to make out he is.

They said that about shearer.

I agree with Chris, we can't rely on Sam Gallagher or Jay Rod for that matter to resolve our striker issues for the rest of the campaign. It may be costly but if we can bring in a new striker or even better one on loan, then all being well and they settle quickly we can give Arsenal and Tottenham a real battle for the top end league positions as well as a serious cup run.

Jamesaint you had me thinking for about half a millisecond about your Gallagher/Shearer comparison. I take it that was a joke wasn't it. In no way shape or form could you liken one of the best forwards this country has ever seen with what is basically a young reserve fringe player.

Agree0 Disagree0

I never said he was a star striker, I merely listed him as another striker option, who IMO has done very well when called upon, who I would like to see more of, I think he will become a star striker and I have heard the Gallagher/Shearer comparison before, Dave Merrington was talking about it on Radio Solent a while back

I would just like to tell you a very short story. In 1976 we went 1 - 0 down to Aston Villa in the third round of the FA Cup at the Dell and drew 1 - 1 when Hughie Fisher scored. We went to Villa and won 2 - 0 with both goals scored by Jim McCalliog. The moral of the story is what happened on that magnificent day May 1st 1976 and the rest is history. So don't let anybody tell us we can't beat Ipswich in the replay and play a reserve side. The 4th round home tie against Palace has to be all the incentive we need to show our true class and move on in the cup. We will have Clyne back and the new winger so we have to believe we can win this game and the whole thing.

Yeah you might be jumping the gun a bit there mate. Going away to a top championship side who held us to a draw at St Mary's against a pretty much full strength first team isn't going to be a walk in the park and certainly doesn't mean we have one hand on the cup. I massively admire your optimism however and I do hope you're right. The famous saints are going to wembley!!!!!

I am jumping the gun and being positive and that is what I want our team to be.

Hi eds, any news on sam gallagher ? I've heard he's back in training and the club are looking for him to leave on loan, with swindon in pole position. any truth in this ? or is he still on the injured list, which i thought he was
thanks

{Ed002's Note - The club mentioned he was close to a return. I am not aware of any loan and after and injury it might be too risky.}

I think you can only loan in 2 from the same team and Swindon have two from us already - not sure though on the rule?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Not an issue.}

Sam shouldn't go out on loan, he could do with a chance in the first team I think. With him, jay rod in feb, pelle and long all in we may actually get away with not having to sign a striker in jan. Rather than than lending him out and having to sign a replacement which is very much what we would need to do
