I badly want Rojo, and With these signings I can see it becoming more and more likely. Also with Koeman admitting his interest it is very exciting!

I can't believe that we have let Frazier Campbell slip under our noses for £900k! For a player who can provide something we don't normally have up front, even off the bench, it would've been worth his buy out clause.

Re Fonte new contract:

Very happy to get him committed need corky next.

However, a lot of hype and in a personal opinion if we kept all out team together with lovren. to push on I'd have said another CB to partner lovren? What does everyone think?

Heard we were linked with Phillip Wolscheid who is playing tomorrow for Bayer Leverkusen, but now we seen to have seen to have signed the Romanian guy, I'd like to see us look at Sidney Sam. Great winger, hasn't been talked about much. This transfer window, and we need a winger

Saw him today two words SIGN HIM sorry a third NOW

Fantastic news that Fonte has signed a new contract, he's a key player and a leader who will make a great captain!
Koeman has confirmed interest in Rojo and it sounds like he didn't want to say much on the matter, the same with Forster. From what he said though it sounds like we are close to signing Florin Gardos from Steau Bucharest, the Romanian press seem to think the deal is done! I don't know much about him but looked him up on youtube and has seemed to perform well in the Championsleague against some top clubs and I think he'd be a real coup for us. We've also just been linked to Sam Byram, he's a top young player and would be a great signing if we needed a RB, as we have Clyne ofcourse, we do lack depth there but we know Cork can play there too and we have young McCarthy coming through too. Talking of Cork, I hope he's next to sign a new contract as he's a top player and very underated. Any news on any of these deals Eds? We need a striker too soon!

Les says no chance re new contract for Cork.

Agree0 Disagree0

St Sam I agree regarding Cork, he is an awesome midfielder who we need to keep, excellent tracking, interception, positioning, passing, tackling and distribution, I'd be pissed if we didn't at least try to tie him down to a new contract

Agree0 Disagree0

And do you know Les then Saint Dez?

Agree0 Disagree0

When does Les's contract come up? Think we should put him out on loan for a while, any suggestions?

Don't know why we don't go for someone like Douglas Costa of Shakhtar Donetsk. What with all the trouble out there, he might want out.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Trouble with all those Brazilians in Ukraine is that they're not regular internationals and would struggle to get a work permit to play in England.

But I agree, Douglas Costa (along with Wellington Nem, also at Shakhtar) is a fine talent.

Just don't expect to see any of them in a Saints shirt.

Agree0 Disagree0

Apparantly Arsenal want him, but I agree they have some top players in Ukraine, worth a look, especially as we still need a striker

Florin Gardos can play Defensive Midfield. Mainly a Centre Back though. Got a 10 game ban for breaking that players leg.

Think the plan should be to sign him up and keep him to a restricted diet of raw steak until February, by when he should be ready to be let lose against a step over or two!

Posted today on Sportsnews. ro (Romania)

Florin Garda (25) was sold today by English Star grouping Southampton. Romanian football summer transfer accounts champion will bring six million euros, according mondonews. ro. The group "saints" was proposed this summer and Vlad Chiriches, former Steaua's not wanted at Tottenham. Now negotiations are final. Stay tuned for details.

Southampton finished last season eighth in the Premier League, one of the best finishes in recent history of the club founded 128 years ago.

Coach Ronald Koeman came this summer in St. Mary's Stadium, replacing them Mauricio Pochettino. "Saints" who have only a Cup record of England, conquered in 1976, many owners sold this summer, and the team is rebuilding.

Gardoş will have colleagues in defense Portuguese Jose Fonte, Jos Hooiveld Dutchman and Englishman Jack Stephens.

Florin Star guard came in 2010 from Concordia Chiajna and checked 81 games in Ligue 1 for "red-blue".

If you look at our squad from next year, we're starting look pretty solid, especially if you look at our midfield, the only place that looks like it needs strengthening is CB and if we're being fussy we wouldn't mind a striker and a keeper either, it wouldn't take much to make our squad look solid for next year though:
Goalkeepers
1 Davis 25 Gazzaniga 31 Boruc 41 Cropper
Defenders
2 Clyne 3 Yoshida 6 Fonte 26 Hooiveld 33 Targett 35 Stephens Bertrand
Midfielders
4 Schneiderlin 8 Davis 10 Ramírez 12 Wanyama 16 Ward-Prowse 18 Cork 27 Isgrove 38 Reed 45 McQueen Taïder Tadic
Forwards
9 Rodriguez 24 Mayuka 40 Gallagher Sharp Pellè

If it wasn't for J Rods injury we probably wouldn't need a striker, but oh well, our midfield looks quality at the mo

Daily Mail reckon we have had a £9.5m bid for Rojo rejected. Will be interesting to see if Saints do increase their bid in anyway. However, I somehow feel they will not go higher than £10m and so will not go back in for him. Doyen Sports clearly feel they will get more money elsewhere. It's not the end of the window yet, so this may yet develop further.

Apparently we are set to break our transfer record to bid for Rojo for £13m, would be a great signing, also hope the Forster deal goes through regardless of weather he's playing in the Champions League or not, Celtic have signed a good keeper in Craig Gordon anyway, so they shouldn't be too disappointed in losing Forster, next onto a striker, then if we have enough time maybe another CB

Transfer record? What about Osvaldo?
Did we not get screwed for more for him?

Agree0 Disagree0

I read in an article that it would beat our transfer record as Osvaldo was £12. something wasn't it? Not sure if there were add ons included in that or not though

Agree0 Disagree0

Didn't Osvaldo cost £12. 8 m? Plus possible add-ons?It would be nice to think that deal could be beaten. If only to remove Osvaldo from the top of the list of most expensive players. Although he was probably underused and sometimes out of position, he obviously saw SFC as a big pay-day. Still need to replace him though. Will be interesting to see how we play against Leverkeusen. Come on Saints. You can beat this Sh#t.

Agree0 Disagree0

A certain sports reporting news channel decided Osvaldo was 15million Pounds not Euros just to up their ridiculous "transfer totaliser". Really it's 15million Euros (12.8million Pounds at the conversion at the time). Although strictly speaking those figures probably aren't all that accurate anyway, you know what the press are all like.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with Armstrong, I don't really want Osvaldo being our record transfer deal, also think we should break to show ambition too

With Celtic re-instated into the Champions League play-offs I think unless Forster pushes for the move/or the deal is done we should move on for the time being. We'd be in a much healthier position if we had a new CB by the end of the weekend although Yoshida and Fonte could manage. Likewise I'm still not sure we will bring in two centre-backs unless Yoshida or Hooiveld leave as Fonte is likely to be named captain so will continue to be a fixture in our starting 11.
