Extract from Scottish Express paper couple hrs ago regarding Hooper wanting out of Celtic:

Hooper could sit tight for a year and then walk for free but wants to go now to enhance his international career after continually being overlooked by England during his time in Scotland.

No quotes from individuals or clubs but if I were him I'd want to play PL to enhance World Cup chances.

Davey Boy

1.) He won't want to come to Southampton then! Woy ignores our players.

2.) I'm not sure I really want to see him in a saints shirt. Not sure he'd actually be adding all that much to us. Think he's a Championship striker really maybe capable of a low down Premiership club but not up to the level of ambition we have, signing Hooper is an acknowledgement of mediocrity.

3.) Im not going to Lie, i'm not a big fan of hooper, but I want to see him at our club because ill be honest he's English and let's be honest to many players are brought from abroad. give him a chance

EastSaint

4.) I disagree because he's probally the level of player to push for rickys spot. I think lambert and hooper battling it out for that spot with jay and mayuka also adding pace to either the wing or up top would be a good mix of pace and finishing

but I am sure we will sign someone else who isn't going for an over the top price

clarkey saint

5.) We have plenty of English talent and really if we want to add to that we should be looking for the best young English players in the Championship. Austin and Rhodes look better than Hooper.

6.) I think hooper would be great competition for ricky as lambert is lacking of pace but still plays a very key role for us I think a player like hooper is perfect competition for the both of then.

on the other hand we sign a 10million plus striker the only outcome is to change formation or drop lambert. That to me isn't a great idea so bring in someone younger who can finish well.

Yes we also have jay but depth is needed and I think hooper would be a sensible option for all situations

clarkey saint

7.) Well said mate, we need English youngsters being given a chance for the sake of our clubs, and England
National Team.
Too many foreigners playing over here.

8.) I thought Rhodes played for Scotland?

9.) Mixed bag of comments ref hooper. Advantages are English, only 25, ambitious (2nd player to leave a club playing in CL), scores a bag full and we need a lethal poacher. Disadvantage is price (but hey, it's not our money!) and gamble if he can score lots in PL. personally I'd take a punt on him depending on outcome of other players we linked with. If Carroll went for £35m £8mill for Hooper could be shrewd.

10.) You say that but some of the best players are from abroad and they make the epl the best league in the world

11.) If English players aren't getting opportunities in England, why don't they go abroad? I've never understood that.

12.) Exactly what I think, although I think either Rhodes or Austin would be good too as they're younger with more potential, but I'd love to see Hooper sign!

13.) Southampton played the most English players in the Premiership last season. Other clubs need to play more English players for that kind of development.

14.) Please don't sign hooper.

we can rotate lambo jrod and mayuka.

we should spend mega money on a quality winger (25m) and that's it

15.) Hooper would be good
but agree that lambo jrod mayuka
will show full pertential

Ive heard from a journalist friend of mine that the Liebherr Trust have no intention of selling the Club. They are unanimous that major decisions on running the Club need to be decided by more than just Cortese. (Thats called a Dictatorship!) This is why Cortese has the hump. There is a narural 'holiday' break in his contract this summer (hence no decision from Cortese until contract runs out) which is why he would recieve very little pay-off.
If he left, the Liebherr Trust would simply replace him with another Chairman who takes the Club forward.
For me, this could be the best outcome. Cortese out and we retain the backing of the Liebherr's.

Davey Boy

1.) Sorry Davey Boy, don't agree with your post. losing Cortese would be a big loss. It was NC and Markus who were the driving forces behind the project to save and develop Saints. NC has continued this project with the same passion as when Markus was alive and whilst I would accept he has irritated some people along the way, he has been extremely successful in achieving the targets they set.
Sorry, I have doubts as to whether the Trust has the same determination that NC has and I believe him leaving could signal an acceptance of survival in the EPL rather than higher ambitions.
I hope NC does stay and continues to upset a few more people, because there are plenty still in and around the world of football who need upsetting.

Saint Martin

2.) Forgive me when I say you made that up.

Lenny

3.) I have heard the same as Davey Boy

4.) Lenny, he may well have a journalist friend in which case the source of the nonsense could be him rather than the initial poster.

5.) Davey Boy Cortese is arguably the best thing to happen to this club under the Liebherr era.

He has transformed the way the club is run from the roots up and has planned for the long term future of Saints.

Anyone can have a wealthy backer, but knowing what to do with that wealth is the key (e. g. QPR). It is vital that Cortese stays at the helm, I'd rather keep him and get a new financier. Money without brains is totally worthless to us.

6.) Look where having a board got us before. If it's not broken don't fix it.

7.) I personally think if the Liebherr trust was to sell NC wouldn't let us go to someone with less money than we already have and would also have a plan in place to stop his hard work and dedication going to waste while at the same time still being able to see his vision for this club finished and still be the clubs chairman in years to come. NC was the one who got ML to buy the club, he sees the potential we have as a club. one of the best academy's around, great stadium, great training ground we have everything going for us so I don't think NC would sell us to someone who would sell us to someone who will put less money into the club than we have now. but I doubt very much we would be sold anyway, trust NC will still be the chairman of our club and we will get money this next season

8.) Could be worse, could have ken bates as our chairman

9.) Or peter risdale

10.) Liebherrs are not really worried about the money. We are now in a league where we have passed go and collected (lets be conservative) 90 million pounds.
They bought us for under 30 million if we stay up again 13/14 season we collect another 90 million there is no need for me to do any more maths or figures. They would, even if they wanted to be quite mad to sell us now unless it was to someone with Sheiek at the start of their name where money does not matter.

More of a fact than a rumour. Under 18 players Seager and Gape sign professional contracts with Saints. Seager bagged 20 goals whilst mostly being played out of position by Dodd.

Official site.

Davey Boy

1.) Great news! Some more talent coming through 1 of the best academies in the world, just what NC wants.

Forren goes back to Molde for similar fee we payed for him. What a pity.

Chappers also leaves. Contract mutually terminated. Musnt forget what he did for us in our consecutive promotion seasons. Wish them both sucess in future.

Davey Boy

1.) Chaplow was brilliant for us. Will always be fondly remembered at St Mary's.

Quote from Poch on Saints official website-
"We want to have everything set up and tied down for 1st July, so we're working as if everything is as it is. I have total confidence and faith that Nicola will be here next season, and that I will be here as well. "

Over to you NC.

Davey Boy

1.) In Cortese we trust! Pay attention children of Saint Markus, we still want and need Cortese!

2.) Thank you Jesus!

COYS

3.) Wow that's soon could be a lot of signings by then

Poccetino has publicly come out and said if Cortese leaves, he's off too.

Davey Boy

1.) Never dull being a Saints fan is it! Hope the owners back Nicola asap so he and MoPo can get on with the job of moving our great club on to the next level. It would be such a shame if they were allowed to leave having done us proud so far.

2.) Um. So when afew weeks ago I stated that everyone needed to calm down about the amount of money we had throw around in the summer I got slated and told I was talking complete rubbish. I hope to god this all gets sorted soon don't want to get left behind in the transfer window again. It was always documented that the rest of the family was not as interested as Markus. Maybe they feel now is the time to move on after backing us to get back and stay in the prem. maybe they have a buyer lined up who knows but one thing I do know for sure is its never a dull day being Saint.

Think City want him off their books so can't see a loan happening. Realistic signing for Saints and could be worth a punt.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Ramirez leave. Word is (from senior regional journalist who covers saints) its Ramirez Mrs who hasn't settled here.
