Katharina Liebherr has made a statement on the official Saints site. She sounds like she might be here to stay for a while. Interesting read. Up the Saints

Roll on Saturday lunchtime. Let's hope Saints have some fire in their bellies. Sunderland have improved markedly under Poyet. Come on Saints. Get stuck right into them. Show Katharina Liebherr what we are all about. And to the Saints fans lucky enough to be going to the game. Let's hear you on the telly, eh? A song for Don Cortese? There was an outcry and songs sung for Adkins when he departed. Cortese has done far more for Southampton Football Club, and after some of the previous incumbents, a breath of fresh air at Saints, irrespective of your opinion on his decisions. --- ( Yes he was harsh)
I've watched Saints in Germany, Spain, Ireland and obviously England since 1973. Rarely have I looked forward to a game like this weekend.
BRING IT ON!

1.) Spot on Milton. Sing it loud, sing it proud. Let's help the players get the ball in the back of the net. Saints must win this game, just to clear the "pressure" (albeit media inflicted) on their young shoulders, and to stamp their foot on that top 9 place, and push closer and closer to the Magpies and Manchester United above us.

I quite like Gus Poyet though, and have nothing against Sunderland as a club, but I despise Paolo Di Canio, and as he brought in many of their players, I really hope we can get all three points. I have a hunch PDC would probably take all the credit for their victory if they got one!

But, most importantly, three points tomorrow should in all reality secure our Premier League status for next season. There's one hell of a battle going on in the bottom half, anyone from us downwards could, theoretically, still get dragged into the drop-zone. - A great season.

Prediction? Sunderland 1-3 Southampton. Goals from Lambert, Lallana (assuming they play, like) and a stunning length of the pitch 90th minute winner from Boruc! Adam Johnson will be their goalscorer.

Enjoy the match anyone who's going. Fans of both teams, and any neutrals. Good luck Saints!

Saint Etienne.

Pre-Madonna? So before 1958 then? Did you mean prima donna? Yes, we have one of the best academies in Europe and I am positive there are more good players to come through but let's be realistic. Osvaldo is a full international and is apparently being courted by some top clubs. I would suggest he is currently better than the kids we have waiting to make the step-up to the first team. Lambert is past his best, bless him, and Rodriguez needs four good chances to score once - a common theme at SFC. We should only sell/loan Osvaldo if a suitable striker can be bought/loaned in. Also, does anyone really know what made him snap at Fonte? Was Fonte verbally abusive? Even the greatest players of all lose it occasionally. Like Zidane in a World Final. Give him a chance if he stays. We are supposed to be supporting the team, not constantly deriding them.

Gallagher is one for the future. He missed an absolute sitter which would have put Saints 2-0 up. He definitely has the work-rate, in his defence.

That is a very defeatist attitude. To want to better the club, -having ambition, is not a bad trait. It has already been proven that we have sold some of our brilliant young players on the cheap. Bale being the obvious example. If Saints want to achieve, we need to keep our best players at the club. Milan Munich or Manchester, we might not be, but ask Wigan and Swansea fans about their last twelve months. Trophies are there to be won. OK, we only have a chance of winning the FA Cup, realistically, but all of our better players will be needed to do that- along with some luck. Luke Shaw is under contract. A 5 year contract.

Why would Saints sell Lambert? We don't need the money. I think it is safe to say that. He has never missed a penalty kick, and at his current rate will end up with around 12 goals for the season. He is strong, skilful, and can shoot from distance. He is also a 'fans favourite'. It makes absolutely no sense to sell any of our players right now. The squad needs strengthening, not weakening.

Some of this is hilarious. Are you really Saints fans? Do you go to games? Have you seen the improvement in the squad? Every side worth their salt needs a Victor Wanyama type player. Saints have many talented players. Why is that hard to accept? And I'd love to see you diss Mr. Wanyama to his face. That'd make many real Saints fans smile. Just a bit. OK,. a lot

Even though he was a pain in the arse/head/nose, I'll never forget his goal against City. I saw the game with a friend who's a Man. City fan and he agreed the way he skinned Kompany and others before beating Hart in the top corner was world class. Pity he's so hot-headed. At least we'll re-coup the cash we spent, should Juventus take up the option. Adios Osvaldo.

Finishing 9th is progress. We lost two International players in as many minutes at Sunderland. Ramirez is easier to cover for than Dejan Lovren. He has been outstanding for Saints. Maybe our best centre back since Mark Wright. Whoever plays in his place will have big boots to fill. It would be expensive to buy a quality centre half right now but there is a World Cup just around the corner and prices for top players only rise after such a tournament. To me, it would make sense to buy a quality centre half. I'm not anti Yoshida or Hooiveld. They just don't measure up. They are not good enough for European football, which is apparently where Southampton want to be. Get fit quick Dejan Lovren.

AVB? For Saints?. He's dull, dour, defensive and his teams are too slow to attack. Pochettino is staying for the meantime anyway.
