Southampton and Reading are battling it out to sign defender Scott Wiseman.
The right-back, 27, moved to Barnsley from Rochdale in June 2011 and has impressed while at Oakwell.

We won't be taking a right back this market. Don't particularly need one.

I agree, don't see the logic. We have plenty of cover and no one can compete with Clyne

If were going to get a right back we need to get Jack Hunt from Huddesfield

Gordan shildenfeld could be playing for us in january with the player saying he has had a really interesting offer come from a unknown prem team but has been asked to not say wat club that sounds like the nicola cortese way two me and we could do with a defender off international experience wat does any1 think ??

Not sure he'd be a saints target. Imagine we'd go for a younger player if I'm honest.

I see in the transfer rumours that hooveilt may be sold, that is a shame. Yes I would love to see another quality cb come in but I have not heard of one that's plausible, Dawson or caulker will not leave spurs. Scot dann is not exciting. MANY of you at the beginning the year insisted that Hooveilt was better than fonte, you had seen him play in the championship and came to that decision on his defensive play there, then he plays in our disastrous defensive start, made some terrible and some unlucky mistakes. BUT NOW ........ we have improved the true weak areas, cork in the middle with Morgan is a great help to the defence, Luke Shaw has been amazing in the lb. Now fonte and yoshida look solid. Therefore if hoovielt can get his confidence back he could be an asset that's already familiar with our team and tactics, his size and strength is very good, his lack of speed is his only drawback. Even Kelvin could get his starting position back, super kev may get his s back on his chest.

Agree with most of that. It would be foolish to sell Hooiveld at this time as he is the only decent cover at CB. I am not convinced with Yoshida yet.
I agree, Dann will not improve the first team.
For me, in January we should sign a classy CB (Dawson would be great), another winger (hopefully Ince) to add competition for Lallana and Puncheon, and a proven top quality GK.
I like to think our targets are sewn up already, but I am fearing another transfer window of disappointment. We signed great players in the summer, but missed out on a few that looked in the bag. We're just a big injury or 2 away from the Championship if we don't get the right signings. God help us if Rickie got injured.
Things are looking p though and I am excited that we have much to look forward to in January.

Dawson is hardly being played at spurs so why wouldn't he come? he's just what we need, would cost 5-8million but well worth it in my opinion

If Dawson is not good enough for Spurs first 11 why would he be so great for Saints??
