Wanyama has told African journalists that there has been a £10m fee agreed with saints just personal terms left to complete

I saw on a website that Celtic have come out and said no bids have come in and the player is happy and staying there whilst they do a new deal for him.

Before we get ahead of ourselves, I'll cast your minds back a few months; one word. Buttner.
Agree8

Celtic haven't come out and said anything. One of their players has said the players are happy there, nothing that says he won't be leaving though.
Agree5

Apparently in an interview Wanyama has said Celtic have accepted a bid and he is free to begin talks.

“I’m on holiday, I am only hearing this from the media but I can say the deal is far from being complete. Yes, my club has agreed terms with Southampton, but I will also have to agree terms with the team before I consider myself a Saint, ” Wanyama, who was recently installed as Kenya captain, said.
Quote from Kenyan Saturday nation paper.

Copied from the "daily nation " Nairobi.
Wanyama, who is on holiday until July 10, says he has not been contacted by Southampton but alluded to the fact that the club has tried to get his signature many times. Wanyama’s position opens the door for more clubs to increase their bid. The 21-year-old has become one of Celtic’s key players since joining the Scottish champions from Belgian club Beerschot for £900,000 two years ago. Arsenal, Liverpool and Serie A giants Inter Milan have also expressed interest in the player.
Agree2
Disagree2
This sounds a little more realistic. We want players that believe in the project and want to sign for us. Not players that will hang on for a better option, only to warm the bench
Agree0
Disagree1
The fact that Wanyama refers to being a Saint sounds pretty positive to me. He could have been more circumspect and said he isn't sure where he will go yet. His comment is specifically about terms, which can't be surprising as I'm sure he wants as much as he can get
Agree3
Disagree2
Does it seem a co-incidence that Celtic have just signed a new central defender so I would think Wanyama is definitely going, but who to??
Agree0

Well, Wanyama is a midfielder so I'm not sure how relevant that is.

What is this about Wanyama being on holiday until July 10th?
Yeh, right! A guy who is likely to join an EPL side, but will holiday until 10 days after pre-season training starts! Smoke and mirrors comes to mind!

Shrewsbury have made an enquiry about taking Saints striker Lee Barnard on loan for the season.
The Saints striker was on loan at league 1 rivals Oldham last season and Shrews manager sees Barnard as just the quality striker needed to lead the line.

What I like about barnard was his work rate him and rickie was class in league 1 for us shame he didn't play as many for us championship I do like him he has a winning mentality good eye for goal and good engine dosnt stop he will do well for you guys
Agree8
Disagree2
I'd much prefer we sold him and got him off the books so we didn't need to worry about this stuff. I know he was good for us but I'm sure he must be getting pretty tired of being thrown from club to club.

As a saints fan who watches shrews lee Barnard is quality player and just what shrews need

Agree with the post about selling him, 100%. No disrespect intended but it is just not fair for these guys and families to be shuttled around the country on loan after loan. They deserve the opportunity to be settled and move their careers forward.
Saint Martin
Agree8
Disagree0
The problem with selling Barnard is, like Forte they are getting paid more than double any club in league one are willing to pay them due to the 25% increase in there contracts every time the team got a promotion. None of these clubs are going to pay Barnard 10k a week or forte 8k a week. With their short careers they won't be willing to take a pay cut so the only option is to pay up there contract and release them or loan them out with the loan club paying a percentage of their wage which will probably be only half at the most.

I'm not saying that there is no foundation to these rumors about Aap3 dropping out of the sponsorship contract, but all I have heard are vague rumors.

Oh yeah I mean putting away 17 goals in 33 games for roma is s***? do you even know what your talking about? and 27 so what he can put goals away which is what we need and he is a very good player actually just has an attitude and desire to win every game and if he doesn't he gets annoyed

TOTAL CRAP we would want a younger and better player than this

Hold on boys, have you read about this chap. On the verges of the Italian National Team, and terrific recent goal scoring record.
More importantly he used to play with much missed saints legend, Papa Waigo for Fiorentina. Now if Papa were to come back as part of the deal that would be something.
What wouldnt, Saints fans give to see that brilliant and unique Papa Waigo goal celebration again?
Hang on though there's another bit about Osvaldo punching a team mate in the face, namely sometime Saints target Erik Lamela, and getting sent off, not to mention his machine gunning the crowd goal celebration.
If we signed all three we'd get value for our season tickets, though we could struggle in the fair play league.
Roll on August.

Osvaldo is class why wouldn't we want him 27-28 is were players start to peak and hit there prime how old was rickie when we bought him?
Agree6
Disagree1
AFR94, why don't you calm down a bit? I'm glad that we aren't discussing transfers in the pub as your aggressiveness would get us barred.
How are you so sure you know so much about these players. Do you live in Italy?
Anyway, back to the point, we don't make Saints transfer policy, or if you think we do, you are misguided.
However, we all know what the policy is, that Saints don't generally go in for older players. that's another reason why we got Mopo as manager, for bringing on youth. Probably wise as we don't want to be paying inflated transfer fees for players who may think that they now have nothing left to prove.
Whether players are good or not is irrelevant and and has no bearing.
Agree3

Osvaldo is class. At 27 he's in his prime and he'll bang in the goals for us that's for sure. On what facts are people basing their opinions on?
Lenny
Agree3

17 Million is a lot for Osvaldo. he is a talent yes but there are cheaper better options out there for sure
Agree2
Disagree2
Yes, he's in his prime and spending the odd million can be seen as worthwhile but buying at the peak is not something an astute investment banker is likely to do.
Agree2

he's a class player. Would love to see him at saints.
Agree3

Wtf are you all on about? He scored loads last year and sounds class, don't be ridiculos and say we can do better, we couldn't much better he'd be a great addition, but I doubt he'd come to be honest

Would be a class signing for saints, anyone who said otherwise is an person.

Southampton are interest in brazil striker Jo for around a fee of 4 million
Believable2
Unbelievable12
What a joke. Jo was a disaster. We would never sign him
Agree6

2 goals in 2 in confed cup?
Agree4
Disagree0
Jo is a good, strong player. I know he wasn't successful elsewhere in the Prem but I would be made up to sign him for £4m. City didn't spend a load on him because he's cr*p.
Having said that, I don't expect we would go for him. I don't believe a thing with saints until it happens.
Agree2
Disagree0
Jo has no pace, which is fine for South American footy but not for the Prem. Full of tricks maybe, but he had a poor shots to goals ratio for City (a problem we already have) and has scored 2 in 2 because he is playing for Brazil. who I believe have on or two other dangerous players. so its easy to get tap ins? City liked him because he reminded them of the Goat.
All by the by really, Saints would never sign him.
Agree3
Disagree4
For your info jo didn't get many chances at man city but done quite well at everton whilst on loan would of made move perm but everton couldn't afford wage. I wouldn't mind he would be good playing off lambo may lack pace but as great strength in the air anf on the floor
