Following the confederations cup exit of Japan international 'Honda' will be signing for Southampton in the coming days once leaving Brazil for a fee of £2million from CSKA Moskow who are happy to let him go for a small fee rather than let him go for free in the new year.

Believable5 Unbelievable13

Made up post sounds a lot like wot someone said saints should do in a earlier post

Agree5 Disagree0

How do u know this? he is class

Agree2 Disagree1

I highly doubt that but would love it if it was true!

Agree2 Disagree1

Well dean h was going to brighton until gus got in trouble. Need to free a few off the books to make space for a quality addition to the midfield. Numerous rumours about where chappers is going. Also debate about sending jwp out on loan for a season to get regular match time. Would not be surprised if a Japanese player joined the squad.

Agree5 Disagree0

I'm calling bull on this

Agree2 Disagree1

If Honda only cost £2m i'm sure he would have been snapped up by now, so forgive me for not believing you.

Agree4 Disagree2

This is obviously made up but that doesn't mean he won't join us. If I'm correct, he has less than a year left on his contract and has refused an extension so a fee like that could be considered.

The reason why he hasn't signed for anyone is because he's been at the Confederations cup. Now it's over, he could be heading anywhere to start contract negotiations. Who knows!

Lenny

{Ed002's Note - Honda was close to leaving last summer with a move to Lazio only failing at the last minute and I understand that Lazio would still be interested at the right price. He has had a bit of a strange season in that he has been scoring goals but his performances have been criticised - which seems to have put off Dortmund who have taken a recent look. Valencia have shown interest recently and would like to have him sign a pre-contract in the summer (as he becomes a free agent in January) but I imagine the player will wish to see what options are available. I am told that interest also remains from Fulham and what looks like the two most probable destinations right now, Everton and Milan.}

Agree1 Disagree0

Honda is a free agent. Who on Earth are we paying £2M to! {Ed002's Note - Not until January.}

Agree0 Disagree1

Honda's contract comes to an end at the end of the Russian season in December this year - so £2 million seems a good fee for a player with 6 months on his contract

Agree0 Disagree0

People are overlooking the fact that he would be a massive global asset too. Imagine the merchandise in Japan. Did anyone notice the amount of Jap's around St Mary's last season supporting Yoshida. I bet the rumour has been made up, but I would expect Cortese would have at least considered him as he is quality, cheap and we have a team mate of his.

Agree4 Disagree0

Why go for honda when Tad Lee is still on the books? Got a feeling a few need to move out before we add a player like him to the squad. Must say thanks to hammond and chaplow for the work in getting us promoted but the club is going up another level.

Agree2 Disagree0

Yep. Noticed a following of young ladies wearing tad lee and maya shirts at the games. Great for the club to have international players in the squad. Great to see the young ladies enjoying themselves at the games watching thier idols play. It us not just about the middle aged blokes and beer sales these days. Credit to the saints management to recognise the global market.

Last day of the season, Poch said we had two signings really close to being done & dusted. Lovren was obviously one, who was the other and what happened?

Believable7 Unbelievable0

Nainggolan was the other. It was all going on since april & he has now come out saying that we have offered him a decent personal deal but had yet to sign. This may have been pushed into the open due to the stuff going on with wanyama. Notice how there appears to be a lot of backtracking from the wanyama camp ref comments regarding saints as negotiations are obviously still continuing.

Agree3 Disagree1

Maybe Lovren wasn't one and there are two players on a free coming in on July the 1st

Agree1 Disagree2

He didn't say that. tv wrote article saying we were close to two new signings but no quote from saints

Agree1 Disagree1

Its astori

Agree0 Disagree8

Poch didn't say anything, it was a tv journo that said it

Agree0 Disagree2

See this is why Adkins didn't say anything regarding transfers. Because because (not necessarily yourself) become agitated and annoyed of a deal falls through

Agree2 Disagree1

That's a very good point. Makes you wonder what happened

Agree2 Disagree4

I think the guy talking about the free transfers may be onto something. We could be waiting for contracts to end to get one or two frees.

Agree2 Disagree2

Last game last season on the radio commentary before game had a interview with poch and he said then two players where close to singing

Agree3 Disagree0

Is Douglas still unsigned to a new club yet?

Regarding Naiggolan and Wanyama do any other fans feel frustrated that they have possibly publicised our interest in order to tempt clubs in better competitive positions i. e. champions league to bid for them. whilst we are certainly not at that level I would have thought our ambitions and style of play would be very attractive attributes alongside the solid wages we are able to offer. I guess time will tell on both these potential deals, but I would much rather we signed a player who is willing to take risk by joining an up-and-coming club such as ourselves rather than one who will willingly take turns as a bench warmer simply for a taste of European football.

Saint Q

Agree7 Disagree1

For the last time its definitely not Astori!!

Agree5 Disagree1

Poch said it himself, not a TV journo. We'll obviously have to wait and see.

Agree2 Disagree0

I posted the free transfer comment. Don't forget that players can be signed up 6 months before the end of their contract abroad. Seeing as saints like to keep things quiet the player could of kept his mouth shut as well and we could be getting 2 free transfers. Or two young players from Argentina. or no one. let's wait and see

What happened about the ver Banega rumours? He's a class player.

Believable8 Unbelievable0

Who would you prefer, Banega or Wanyama?

Agree0 Disagree0

Banega all day long. He can play further forward and create. I'm happy with our DM's. money could be better spent elsewhere IMO.

Agree7 Disagree3

Perhaps we have a verbal agreement with a player who is away at the confeds cup and can't sign until their return? Hopefully not a Tahiti player!

Agree3 Disagree0

Both please. But Banega if pushed as we already have 2 excellent DM's Schneiderlin & Cork.

Agree1 Disagree0

Both are both rumours. But, if I had s choice benega would fit perfectly into our squad!

Agree0 Disagree0

Would bangea even pass a medical yet?

Agree1 Disagree0

Banega is better but also 3 years older

Agree0 Disagree0

Not if he runs over his own foot

Agree2 Disagree0

Just remember that the lovren deal went quiet for about a week after it was fully reported and look what happened there

Nainggolen has reportedly said "I received a great offer from Southampton, their proposal is economically the most important of all, but I do not play for money. My priority is to have a major career. But I have no problem to move to England. It 's still wide open, we will see. "

Believable10 Unbelievable3

Good signing if we get him

AFR94

Agree2 Disagree0

Not really sure what he's saying. that he's interested or waiting for a bigger club

Agree3 Disagree0

Its on the daily echo website

Agree1 Disagree0

Basically he wants a move to the prem but although we have offered him a great deal he would prefer it to be with a top six side so that he has a shot at CL football. That is what he is saying. Cortese is a great negotiator and we have cash ready but in terms of us progressing this is going to be our biggest obstacle in getting hold of top notch players now.

Agree3 Disagree0

Just do a google search under his name & the quote is common knowledge

Agree1 Disagree0

A top 6 side does NOT get CL football. The top 4 are unlikely to sign him and I would wager the number 5 and 6 sides will not qualify next season.

There are only so many CL teams about and most of them already have high quality players. I'm sure NC is quite capable of pointing that out, and then proposing which teams could become CL contenders and why. Whether or not a player believes it and gets the right message from his agent is another matter.

Celtic have confirmed no bid has been accepted by any club for Wanyama, he still has 2 years on his contract and they don't need to sell, also with Arsenal and Inter Milan preparing bids of around 14 mill, and the fact theat Wanyama has said, he wants Champions League football, Southampton have no chance {Ed016's Note - Like I said}

Believable7 Unbelievable20

Sharp classy? You been drinking?

Agree2 Disagree0

Thanks for your insight, of course you are 100 percent sure of all of that and have decent sources! sounds like a pompey fan!

Agree3 Disagree1

Wanyama says a deal has been done and he's waiting to agree personals

Agree4 Disagree2

Saints do have chance. I'm a Arsenal fan and I know for a fact that they will be up with us next season. The chairman has done a great job and is continuing to push the club forward! Look a man city a few years ago. ! That says it all! I think Saints will suprise a lot of people next season! So yes I think Saints have a great chance of signing him. And of course The gunners!

Agree9 Disagree0

Fair play mate but you've got more money to spend on classier players ;)

Wanyama is ours hopefully :P

Agree2 Disagree0

I love seeing sensible fans like gunner above

Agree8 Disagree1

So do I mate

We shouldn't get rid of sharp. I personally think he's a classy player!

Believable15 Unbelievable16

Agree, just love him to be given a chance to show if he could do it in the Prem, or not.
Think he's been treated pretty shabbily.

Agree10 Disagree8

Give sharpy a chance

Agree4 Disagree6

God what could billy sharp possibly add to the squad he's an excellent championship striker and a mediocre prem striker at best. Forget buying championship players who are way past their prime saints are a club moving on to bigger things keeping billy sharp instead of signing a proven 15 goal a season striker would be a massive step backwards

Agree7 Disagree4

Think billy sharp would
score more goals than
jay rod if he was given a
chance
and that is what its all
about
scoring goals

Agree1 Disagree8

To the above post. How can you describe sharp as a mediocre prem striker when he has never actually had the opportunity to test himself at this level. I'm not saying your incorrect but remember that there were tons of 'experts' who told us lambert wouldn't make the step from league 1 to the championship!

Agree4 Disagree2

That is very true but to be fair I don't rate sharp anywhere near as highly as I rate lambert. Lambert outshone sharp in the championship I know we didn't see him in the prem but can you honestly say you think he would do well?. I really don't see him getting more than 7 in a season and that would be a good season for him.

Agree5 Disagree0

Honestly? I just don't think you can call it unless he gets a chance. I didn't imagine LeFondre would be capable of getting the amount of goals he did so.

Agree2 Disagree2

I think Jay Rod has shown himself to be very handy and probably better than Sharp.

Agree5 Disagree0

Jay rod has more pace!
But you can't argue that sharpy is a fox in the box! i'd like to see him have a chance.
Even if you combined the two of them, lambert would still be better!

Agree4 Disagree1

Sharp is certainly not a "classy player" but he is a hard working forward that hassles defences non stop for however long you leave him on for, and if there's a sniff of a chance he will smash it in, how is that a bad thing for the premier league?, hernandes has done it for three years at utd I would at least have him on the bench, but unfortunately we will probably sighn some italian for 9 million or something stupid instead who will play exactly the same way but has an exotic sounding name

Dont know how much of the is true. but southampton have enquired about porto striker Jackson Martinez.
i don't know much about him, all I know is that martinez is a Colombian international

Believable1 Unbelievable16

If this is true then we are really ambitious. He's an exceptional player

Agree0 Disagree0

Well Tottenham are also tracking him and according to reports, are willing to offer in excess of 25million. Think that might be a bridge to far for us this window. Big fee for one player.

Agree2 Disagree3

I think it would be a major statement for our future and saints push towards a european place in the not to distant future

Agree0 Disagree0

Totenham and liverpool will both be mediocre teams if they loose bale and suarez, the only thing they can offer them more than us is. oh yea nothing exept the chance of going straight out of europe in totenhams case, when teams loose their main assets its not an attractive prospect for bringing in players as it show they lack ambition, totenham will find it near impossible to replace bale as with suarez at liverpool anyone with a brain would bet on both teams failing miserably next season

Southampton have had a bid of 10 million rejected for victor wanyama as it did not meet celtic valuation arsenal are now to step up there interest in the player

Believable3 Unbelievable13

What a load of rubbish, go away portsmouth! the player him self has told the media the clud have accepted our offer!

Agree6 Disagree6

You are wrong, Wanyama himself confirmed that the bid from Southampton was accepted and he was about to begin contract talks. Celtic realise they won't be able to sell for much more than £10million or risk losing him for free next summer which isn't exactly favourable for them so they are in a position where they will take what they can get.

Agree3 Disagree5

Get yourselves ready for Oxford, LOL.
Think you will find Arsenal are after Fellaini and Wanyama himself has reported a deal has been agreed between Celtic and Saints.
But other than that, pretty spot on!

Saint Martin

Agree5 Disagree1

Abit late are you not? It has been said saints increased there offer to just short of 12 million and it has been accepted.

I still do not think we will sign him but who knows, no smoke without fire.

clarkey saint

Agree0 Disagree1

Jealous skate or disgruntled Celt!

Agree4 Disagree1

He was in the press yesterday saying they have accepted a bid just personal terms to sort out. Rumoured to be around the 12m mark.

Agree1 Disagree1

Thats rubbish the deal between saints and celtic was agreed yesterday saints now having personal talks with wanyama

Agree2 Disagree3

Who cares really! Midfield we have! Defence we have! it's up front we need to get sorted.

Agree1 Disagree2

Do a bit more research before you attempt to troll

Agree2 Disagree0

They wouldn't risk losing him for free next summer, he has 2 years left. They would risk him going for less next summer though

Agree1 Disagree2

Wanyama has 2 yrs left on contract, its hooper that's free end of season. do sum research. if vic comes to you whatever price you have to pay its cash in the bank, he will play for a huge club in a few yrs, he's just that good. bhoywonder

Agree2 Disagree2

Lose him for free next summer? Are u mad? He's contracted for the next 2 years! Celtic can command more than 10 millions for wanyama! Wanyama himself is bigger and better than Southampton I hope big vic will see sense and not want to play a relegation battle next year! If not, he's money orientated, and it won't be long before he's cracking at a move away from Southampton

Agree4 Disagree9

Wanyama has 2 years left on his contract, so we will not lose him for free next season.

Agree3 Disagree1

It must be really depressing being a Portsmouth fan these days, I mean, for more than the normal reasons.

Agree8 Disagree0

Wanyama has said the quotes in the paper were made up by a Kenyan journalist. It's not even confirmed you've bid for him. It's all speculation started by the Daily Mail, who also said he had one year on his contract, so they have no idea what they're talking about. Why would Celtic accept a bid so early when there's so many teams supposedly interested? I don't think he'll go to Southampton but if he does, I Hope we get a big sell on percentage because he'll leave Southampton a year or two later.
