I have it on good authority that Southampton are most probably not going to renew Jack Cork's contract. As a replacement, we are looking at Jordy Clasie as Koeman has stated that he wants him. Also, we are trying to wrap up the Bertrand and Alderweireld deals and hoping to make them both permanent in January.
I'll be gutted about Cork but this will now be 2 managers in a row who doesn't rate him. What do you guys make of all of this?

Hopefully this is a load of old tosh.
I think Cork has proven himself time and time again, he is a model professional and gives it his all.
I'd like to see what Koeman says when he is asked this question again personally - as he plays Cork so must rate him

Why would we not renew Jack's contract, I must admit this one confuses me. Very important member of the squad, anybody any idea why. There must be a reason.

Why would we sell Lambert, Lallana, Lovren Shaw & Chambers?
This question puzzled us at the time, but now it's all worked out well.
Although on the face of it, not an easy question, he's beibg played to showcase him, to maximise his value. Therefore we have one or two superior? replacements.

It's the price of progress we have to sell to move on, in the process say goodbye to some good friends.

Im not sure this makes sense. We had offers for Cork in the last window, which were rejected. Why would Saints reject offers and then allow the contract to run down? Surely, if the intention was to 'offload' we would have accepted the offer, even if it was undervalue? Besides, Cork has played regularly and has improved markedly this season. As for the Claise thing, he signed a contract extension in just the last window, signifying his clubs intention to either keep him or get top dollar.

After watching re-runs of Match of the Day over the last 3 weeks the rumour has it that we have no chance of staying in the race for the Champions League. The reason is that we haven't played any of the "Big Boys" yet and that we'll start sliding down the table, to be fair Alan Shearer has been fairer than most and Gary Lineker does seem to like us. Now the big boys as far as I am led to believe that will challenge us are Tottenham, Liverpool, Everton, Man Utd and Arsenal, I think we will accept that we have no chance long term with Chelsea and Man City. I therefore can not see any reason why we can't beat all of them especially at home and as Roko said he hasn't seen any team this season that he thinks are better than Southampton. If we can only be more ruthless in front of goal and keep the players fit I see no reason why we could not obtain the 4th place in the league. I am just hoping that all this negativity from the media about us not being able to last the pace does not affect the teams confidence but only induce the opposite. There won't be many teams going to Stoke, West Ham, Hull etc.
and coming away with 3 points. I think 16 points out of the next 8 games is achievable and then let's see if their attitude changes. There are 6 points for the taking with Leicester and Villa and if we do win both games I can't see City coming down here and being anything else but extremely nervous.

Ryan Bertrand will only stay at the club if cork does him and cork are best mates outside the club and he has told the club that he will only stay if his buddy cork stays

Chris d makes some good points and correct me if i am wrong Everton bagged fourth 10 years ago so it can be done. Our best starting eleven is very good (evidenced by current league table) but the bench may expose us a bit when injuries crop up.

We should enjoy the moment and we have a chance of making a final via the carling cup. If were to finish 5th or 6th it would be a fantastic achievement and would of course generate a pile of cash to further build the squad.

We have at the moment real stability at the club and we are well run by the people who katherine Liebherr has brought in. We can be opimistic I think that we are going to become a top half side. This should enable saints in the mid to long term to establish ourselves as team in the mix and with a good prospect of playing in europe.

Happy Days and fingers crossed.

I can't see the sense in letting Cork go whether we sign another midfielder or not. Cork is not on big bucks, fits into the team well and is playing well. We will need these sorts of players if we are to progress and take on the extra burden of European games.
As for everyone talking us down then let them. We do better coming in from under the radar that living up to others' expectations.

It's a log season so I think it's to early to be thinking about champions league just yet. Looking at form so far this season however I have every confidence he have the squad to beat the "big boys". The two we have played away so far this season have not been games we necessarily deserved to win. let's see how we perform in December and then we will have a fair assessment on what is achievable this season. Don't listen to pundits and what others say about us. Before the season started we were being criticized and mentioned about having a relegation battle. We have great depth and confidence in the team and the only way is up for the saints. Its a fantastic time to be a saints fan so let's just embrace the good times. I like cork a lot and think he offers us a lot however there is no doubting there is better players. Would love him to stay, personally i think he will, but if not who are we to question the club. So many questioned this summer and look at where we are. COYS

My own personal take on the season so far is that we are already over half way to the first target of 40 points (survival) in 10 games and that is a great achievement.

Then the next targets are 57 to beat last season's total and then hopefully a Europa spot.

If we do better than this, then great
