A lot of talk about a new RB coming in as Cedric hasn't been up to standard, any possibility of van der Wiel? Free agent pretty soon.

I'm personally a big fan of van der Wiel's, I think he'd offer a good medium between Cédric and Cuco as an all round full back. My only issue with him is that he's on massive money at PSG (we're talking about £75K) but he may be willing to take a cut for first team football and a shot back in the Netherlands team. Personally I'd like to see us tracking Kenny Tete, because he seems like a phenomenally composed defender for a 20 year old full back and I think he'd work well as an outside CB in the 3 at the back we've used as well. (Would probably be looking at a £6-10 million transfer fee for him, but much lower wages and a lot more potential)

Janmaat would be a good shout as well. Just as persuadable if not more since Newcastle are relegated. Signed by koeman and played under him at feyenoord. Younger and would probably demand less wages than van der wiel. Ticks all the boxes for me.

Personally don't think he's any better than Cédric. Was one of the first players this season to show how absolutely gutless he could be at Newcastle and he lacks defensively in a mental sense (more so than Cédric, I feel) . Of the 2 that we've been linked with, I'd rather pay the extra wages and get Van der Wiel. He's a far better player, especially defensively but is still very good going forwards.

Van der Weil is just as well known for the odd defensive c*ck up though.

Being totally honest, if I could hand pick a RB that I think we'd maybe have a shot at signing, I'd take Mario Gaspar from Villarreal. But if we're stuck with a choice of Van der Wiel or Janmaat I'd like to at least take a player that'll show some balls when things get tough.

Mario would be a quality signing, although I have faith in Cedric's development that he'll come good. Martina has also played fairly well towards the end of the year.
