We've just been linked to Jese of Real Madrid, please be true!

It must be silly season St Sam, we seemed to have been linked to about 20 + players over the last month. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't sign any of the players mentioned but we do sign someone that has never even been linked.

I've just read this. It appears that its Real Madrid who has offered us and west Ham the player, rather than us making the first approach.

Spot on Donola. Rumoured that £15 mill will secure but a £16.8 mill release clause must be part of any contract. Obviously they consider that by releasing him and playing in the EPL could potentially up his transfer value. If and when it did then they could trigger his release and bring him back a better player worth much more than £16.8 mill. I'd be very wary of having a release clause put in if we did consider buying him. He mainly plays left wing but can be used either on the right or as a striker. I think that Claude won't be interested.

I also read that there would be a Buyback clause, but didn't see a figure £16mill seems a bit Tight. But I suppose if He makes an instant impact and improves us for a season or two, then Why Not?

I read about the 16.8 million buy back clause also. I think this is a non mover.

Saints like to biy olayers they have reviewed for years in their Black Box, unless we coincidentally have reviewed Jese (or perhaps we enquired before and Real Madrid said no at the time, and now changed their mind) then I do not think we would go for the player - we don't have enough information on him.

Everyone also complains we are a selling club, so I cannot imagine Les ever agreeing to the buy back clause - as if he did a job then we would be looking at selling him at a bigger profit.

I would expect that now Puel is back in the UK he will be looking into player signings (based on pre season) - we will only know the player once they have signed.

PSG have now expressed their interest in the player apparently.

Madrid will be likely looking to offload him as they have strength up front already and he won't progress as a player on a Madrid bench, BUT have identified us and West Ham as clubs that will give him European football and a good chance of a starting place in the first team, with our set up we could turn him into a great player and they can buy him back at a fraction of his potential future value (i. e mane) . This looks similar to a loan move to me with the added benefit of A. Not keeping him on the books at Madrid and B the option of not bringing him back if he is no good. That puts them in a position to hold all the cards with a player who they can forget about if he's no good but snatch him back if he develops. Madrid are using our club to develop him. That stinks as far as I'm concerned and we should just laugh it off. Unless they are willing to cut out that bit back clause so we can get a return on a player we are very likely to develop. They will probably put it to him like this too, go to saints, do well, learn from the best developing club in Europe and we will buy you back.

Any truth in this eds? Imagine not but not a bad player to be linked with!

{Ed001's Note - he has been offered around.}

I would never buy a player with a buy back clause. Especially one so close to the initial cost.
