Anyone who thinks the current squad will score goals must be watching a different team to me. We can't score and we desperately need a proven striker. We will struggle this year unless we sign two players capable of scoring.

No - the whole point is that we will be watching a different team to you. You're talking about last years team. I'm talking about next years team, and saying there is more to scoring more goals than just putting new players out there. Good players are an important component, but so is the system, belief, intensity etc. A new manager could be the difference. It could not. Who knows, but I'm not going to write off a season before it started just because we didn't spend big on a striker.

Also who do you want us to sign? I've heard people say Remy. well I know another striker who scored a lot of goals a few years ago and has been injured since. His name is Charlie Austin, why not give him a second chance instead? Or people say Bony - see above.

Or maybe you want a younger striker who's clearly shown potential but hasn't put it together yet. Well, no need for a 20m risk on Vietto, we have Gabbiadini. You know, the guy you were singing songs about a couple of months ago. Or a pacer winger. Boufal, Redmond, Sims. take your pick.

Or do we need a CM with potential? We have Ward-Prowse, Hojbjerg and Clasie. With experience then. Steven Davis.

Just because we don't sign players doesn't mean we aren't looking or we have an incompetent board. It could just mean that the board can't find any affordable players that improve us, and don't want to spend money on players that don't make us better. We have good options and a lot of them clearly have the potential to do more next season. A lot of money has been spent by PL teams, which means by January there'll be a lot of very expensive players sitting on the benches of teams who gave into their fans impatience.

I think we need someone who can unlock a defence Bougainville redmond and tadic are good but they all lack the consistency to make a killer pass.

Well said 123, but, to caviat that, we do need to spend some money on a quality centre back. I keep seeing rumours linking us with pacey wingers/ strikers with potential and youth, but I agree with you regarding those players and the need to spend given that many of them
are potential expensive gambles. BUT, we do need to start at the back and get someone in who can give the players some confidence in the back four. VVD, if he stays, which is a big if, will continue to be linked with other clubs and will just unsettle the rest of the squad. We need someone who can partner him and step up if and when he does go.

Saint123 well said. We had for the majority a young team last year who I think will only improve.
We don't need to panic buy. We have good young prospects.
One thing I do trust the board in is there ability to find the right player. So if it's needed I'm sure they will do it.

We need to find another Mane someone with pace, that can add goals and assists. We need an attacking midfielder who's comfortable playing through the middle too, for me Tadic isn't good enough.
