Holy crap, didn't realise my essay long post meant it was an article lol

It’s a good article Lesleee and you are highlighting what just about everyone is saying - STOP playing that ridiculous football at the back. It’s embarrassing and everyone except RM is frustrated by it. When RM gets to manage Man City, by all means stick with it there.
Question is Lesleee, when is enough, enough? After we’ve lost 6 on the spin, or 7 or 8?
The reason so many fans are calling for his head is because RM insists on playing out from the back which inevitably leads to gift wrapped goals for the opposition.
It is so blindingly obvious to just about everyone that we cannot continue to do this. But he says he will NOT change his ways. On that basis for the good of the club he has to go.

And by the way, I think your suggested team selection. Is spot on. If only he would pick that team and let them play football.
At least we agree on some thing!

I mostly agree with leslee's article. I've said it in previous posts that I admire RMs philosophy on football and how it should be played. Unfortunately, it will only work - especially at the back - with high quality players which we don't have at the moment. THB and Bednarek took a lot of the blame for the first 2 goals received an awful pass from Jack Stephens that put him under pressure in the first place. For the 2nd goal Stephens nearly ran into Bednarek which caused the turnover.
I've been saying it for some time now, ABK is by far the best defender at the club. For RM to say he is 6th choice CB defies belief. He has stated after this match that while the guys who got us up deserved the opportunity to start, he believes that others may be entitled to an opportunity now. I really hope that he puts aside whatever differences he has with ABK and puts him in for Jack Stephens.
With regards to our situation further up the field, it makes little sense trying to play wing backs/wingers if you've got players with no height up front. Aa I've said before I'm willing to give Cameron Archer some time but I really fear that he is Championship standard at best. Ross Stewart has yet to be seen in any meaningful way but I'd certainly look at him and dare I say maybe even Paul Onuachu in an attempt to get goals.
Finally, I really do hope RMs stubborn approach to style of play and his attitude towards certain out of favour players changes because how long do the club give him before it becomes a problem. If we wait too long then the season is a bust and we're straight back down to the Championship.

Great post and excellent team selection @Lesleee. That 11 could keep us up with Ugochukwu adding solidity when needed too.
I hope RM let's Ramsdale organise the back line and decide when we go long and short. Then gives Lallana the captaincy and the power to dictate our forward play, while new players settle in.

Miller time as crazy as it sounds but I'd be willing to go as far as relegation with him and then asses why's and reasoning?
Why? Because there are no guarantees in football. Calling for RMs head is all well and good but can you or anyone guarantee that whoever is brought in is going to be better .you can't.
There are so many variables. The board are unlikely to bring in anyone's top suggestion and even if they did, having that new manager recreate what they may have done at our club is not guaranteed.
The success fans want may also come at a cost. For example Claude Puel. As far as I can remember he won/drew most of his games with us by the odd goal and secured us mid table .but it came at the cost of attractive football. Most matches under him was like watching paint dry.
So sure someone could come in and change things but the changes may not be successful and if they are they may not be pretty.
With RM it's a case of better the devil you know. I'd also argue we have played a lot of decent football under him and definitely have an identity. If the issue from playing out from the back can be addressed than I think wed look like a much better prospect.
Because of this like I said I'm willing to die on the sword with RM because I'd rather go down trying to play exciting/attractive football.
I've lots more to say but I'm at risk of this turning into another article of it isn't already lol

My sentiments exactly Millertime. Let Rambo sort it. RM can’t andcwint drop him just jet him sort it out: will command total respect from all the boys and him and Lallana can sort the overall strategy and run it by RM.

Also wonder if Lesley Ugochukwu deserves a start. Especially in a 4 2 3 1. Rambo is going to need somebody to aim at if going long and half our team don't meet the height restrictions at theme parks!

Fair enough guys, I’m happy to be proved wrong but I honestly believe that we will be revisiting this discussion before Christmas.
But it will need to be a case of a leopard having to change his spots. Let’s hope so!

I am sure that every pundit on Match of The Day saying this is not working, having to go in front of the cameras and explain why we lost and big characters like Rambo and Lallana having words in private must have an impact on him.
We are not asking him to change everything and learn a new style from scratch, just to only play it short when safe. Happy we have a strong character in Rambo who has the experience to make those judgements.
No idea if RM will change. He has dug us out of poor runs in the past with some tweaks. Let's wait and see. Could go either way.

The highest standard of football needs the most gameplan variables for a team to be successful. To stop the high press you must have a long ball game, both straight and diagonal. Diagonal stops opponents full backs pushing on and straight, when you have strikers with pace, stops centre backs pressing which in turn allows the opponents defensive midfield to advance. It really isn’t rocket science but a team cannot be one dimensional in the premier league or they will be found out very stand relegated. The Newcastle game would have been scrutinised by every other premier league team’s analysts, their observations would have been passed on to the coaching team and a way to defeat us would have been formulated in hours. It’s simple, stop this one dimensional nonsense or be relegated by end of October!

Well said 2408
It's like going in to kickboxing match and only punching and not kicking. It is very easy for the opponent to set up to beat you.
By playing it long, not only do we add an option but it makes the other side more wary to press, which also makes it easier when we do go short.
Last time we were in the Prem, we were the kings of scoring with the Pochettinho press and were worried when teams learnt to hit the channels. Now we are suckers to the press.
