The Saints aren't cashing in.

Their current business platform (buying/selling/academy) is a mould form the great Billy Beane's Moneyball Theory.

The Moneyball theory is essentially that of the stock market: "sell high, buy low. " He has applied this fundamental Wall Street practice to the game of baseball? The Saints are using the same formula. Yes its business stats for sport! (sabermetrics approach ).

Many sports clubs are using this approach. Especially "small market" clubs such as the Billy Beane's Oakland A's and obviously the Saints.

The Saints will be fine as long as they stay the course and they will.

Luke Shaw is valued at $10M for a left back. We cashed in (sold high). Before doing so the Saints would have done the following asset evaluation.

1. If Luke Shaw had a better left midfielder in front of him would the Saints be 10 points better in the League standings?

2. If the Saints had another left back of the $10M range would they have been 10 points better in the league standings?

3. If Luke Shaw is sold greater than the $10M dollar asset value and the Saints bring in another left back asset value of the same range will we loose points in the league standings.

The sports science asset management system work.

The Saints have down their homework and have secured data for players all over the world.

They will thrive, survive and prosper. Be patient. It make take two season but I guarantee that they will get it right.

Buy low and sell high for long-term team success. Love the movement!!

{Ed001's Note - sabermetrics approach is nothing to do with anything at Southampton. Nor is it used by any football team as it can not be translated over. The one attempt to do a similar thing was Commolli's stats based scouting methods, which failed miserably because football is not an individual game like baseball. Forget sabermetrics, it is an irrelevance and to suggest they are using it just tells me you don't understand what it actually is. Yes all clubs use stats to quantify parts of a player's game, but it doesn't decide the signings in any way. Forget Moneyball as well, Saints are not using any new system recently devised at all. They are simply trying to get the club on an even financial keel after the Cortese era. Then they plan to expand the club by increasing revenue to allow them to spend more in the future, starting with a larger stadium. There is no plans to go down the moneyball route at all.}
