Tadinari Lee has left the club after being released by the club, good luck to him! He played his part in our promotion push I'll always remember his goal against Derby!

Believable17 Unbelievable1

His injury was the only reason he didn't have more of an impact for us.

Agree5 Disagree3

Looks like the chairman is off. does he take pochettino with him?. do you think he was told by the owners to sell shaw?. or lallana

Agree2 Disagree3

I've said previously that Shaw is off to Chelsea, Bertand in part ex, this is from inside the club. Nothing to do with speculation re Cortese. If NC goes it's because he wants to and it's a huge step up at Milan

Agree1 Disagree6

How is ac Milan a huge step up yes their a big team but look at them now currently not in the top half of serie a and he wouldn't have the power which he has here at saints why leave Club that's on the up and have ambition to go to a club that clearly isn't right at the moment

Southampton have released striker Tadanari Lee from his contract after two years at St Mary's. Now that he has gone, does this mean that we might buy somebody in this transfer window to make the numbers back up. I wish Tadanri Lee all the best and hope he does well at whatever club he chooses to go to. He just isn't good enough for where we are aiming to be.

Believable10 Unbelievable3

I believe hi development with us was hampered by the injuries his picked up at the times he did. He would of been as good as J-Rod had he got the run of luck that he deserved.
Good luck 'Chung' wherever you go.

ITALIAN giants AC Milan have again been linked with a move for Saints chairman Nicola Cortese.

Believable10 Unbelievable14

Get Peter Kenyon in fast, ex Chelsea and Man United. Vast experience of transfer dealings and expanding the brand by marketing world wide. Be a great appointment

Agree6 Disagree7

Yawn, same story last season, they made an offer 1 - 2 years ago and Cortese rejected them flat, stating "Southampton is my baby"

Agree11 Disagree0

Everyone seems to agree that NC is a very driven and ambitious man, yes?
So why wouldn't he be interested in furthering his own career by joining one of Europe's biggest clubs. 5 times European champions. Known throughout the world.
Remember NC doesn't own Saints, to use his own words he's just a head of department.
He could stay on the south coast of course.

Agree2 Disagree2

I think this may happen in the future but not until he's finished with his project at saints.

Jannersaint.

Agree1 Disagree1

What can he do at Milan that hasent been done, when we make champions league he would be the reason we make history.

Agree3 Disagree0

TV reporting that they understand he will be leaving in the very near future but not to join another club. Don't really see why he would want to leave

Agree1 Disagree1

When he finishes the Saints project? When he does go, which maybe soon, let me assure you the statement will read " I've taken Saints as far as I can"

Agree0 Disagree0

Probably sick of all the winging and moaning fans?

Agree0 Disagree1

He's will leave because the club as we all know needs investment in curtain areas and the owner Kat Leiber is probably not willing to spend anymore. We only got Osvaldo in the summer because NC said we could get to the champions league and threatened to leave along with MPoch. Also this could well have something to do with the owner wanting to sell Shaw for £30m? And yet both the Manager MP and Chairman NC have said there is no point in developing a player only to sell them. Both the Chairman and manager are still wanting to progress and take the club forward but without the money to invest in areas we are lacking and the belief in NC project then I'm afraid the Project could well be over.

Reports that saints in cut price deal for Diego from Wolfsburg for 1.8million

Believable11 Unbelievable4

Would be a good signing. Am I the only one to think if we swapped j rod for another player of lallanas creativity we would be a much better side. IMO, j rod doesn't quite score or create enough.
Saintsmiff

Agree8 Disagree21

I'd be OK with that. Wouldn't hurt the squad depth.

Agree0 Disagree14

Saintsmiff, I got to disagree mate! He's currently our top scorer this season and acting as a winger/wide striker I think he's doing a good job.

With regards to Diego, I think he would be a decent signing for us

Agree20 Disagree0

Jay has been a big part of our season so far! The other week scored two and got an assist, scored a great counter attacking goal against newcastle, scored against burnley, he gives his all every game! that's my opinion!

Agree16 Disagree0

Saintsmiff what you smoking fella. do you really think we would get a player of Lallanas quality with the fee we would get for Jayrod, besides that Jayrod is probably our best striker at the moment
Tommo

Agree14 Disagree1

If Ossie is worth £12m or whatever then J-Rod is worth £30m.
I'm absolutely flabbergasted at some of the tripe on here at times.
Let's swap the only consistent striker we have at the moment for someone to create chances? Who's going to stick the ball in the back of the net?
Crazy, absolutely crazy

Agree8 Disagree6

Totally agree SaintsSmiff, he's a striker playing as more of a winger which I know isn't his fault, but I think for the position we should be looking at someone who can link play - tempo etc a lot better ie another Lallana or play Gaston instead who would create more though might score one or two less. But the goals created would allow for the few less Gaston would score. Just for the record I like J-Rod but I think we lack a creative touch other then Adam

Agree1 Disagree11

I like him don't get me wrong. I just think his natural position is to use his pace in behind the defence. He has scored some goals and our top scorer, but I feel our strikers should have scored more goals, considering the amount of possession we have. I would prefer him as a striker, and put somebody more creative there. Every time I see him he gets the ball and just runs with it. Not always successfully either. I must have been the only saints fan surprised he got the England call up. He isn't great at crossing, shooting from distance or creating goal IMO but he is good at working hard to get the ball, pace and for some reason clinical from right angles. I just feel his best attributes are wasted in the inside forward role. Stick him up front so he has more one on ones
Saint smiff

Agree3 Disagree5

In reference to the Newcastle game, he was used as a striker. With lambert almost acting in midfield if I remember
Saint smiff

Agree1 Disagree6

Think the only crazy one here is you fella jay rod 30 mil lmao

Agree3 Disagree3

JRod is a £10million player and has his place in the squad. One of the few players with pace in the team and can get in behind teams and do damage. We need get a 6 man private jet to take Guly, Fox, Hooiveld, Barnard, Lee, forte back to league one where they would be excellent players and get another class centre back (kouyate) to work with Lovren (who by the way is incredible), an injection of creativity (Diego) and a fast clinical striker (hernandez/guidetti)

Agree6 Disagree1

If Ossie is worth £12m yes.
You really think he's worth £12m?
Laughable

Agree4 Disagree3

I would tip j rod to come a decent striker within a couple of years it's just a confidence thing with jay rod at the moment not that he is bad at the moment.

Agree3 Disagree0

I wouldn't sell j rod, that would be silly. He gives us another attacking option. But even at the start of the season, when we were playing "excellent" and all that, we really struggled and still do IMO to score goals in open play. Jay should get goals, that's his job. But what I see is lambert dropping deep, j rod taking a strikers role, and that's when he gets a chance to score. But my argument is when jrod has the ball and lambert is in that attacking position, he doesn't do enough with it. Lambert in affect takes the creative role. I just think play jrod with osvaldo and an ageing lambert to be our strikers, and buy somebody with more creativity. I'm sure jrod or lambert or whoever would benefit from that.
Saint smiff

Agree3 Disagree0

Get rid of J-Rod, what are you all on?! First you want to get rid of him cause he's 'not good enough for the prem' then, when he's playing well and scoring, you want to get rid of him. WHAT?!

Agree0 Disagree1

Jrods the best striker at the club

st stuie

Agree2 Disagree0

Stuie, if jrod is the best striker in the club, why is he playing in midfield? This again backs my point, jrod is a striker. We could get a better player to fill that am role IMO if scoring goals is one of our problems then play jrod as a striker. Play a more creative player in his position to supply him the ball.
Saint smiff

Agree2 Disagree1

He's not playing as a midfielder though. we play a rotating front 4 of Lambert, Lallana, J-Rod and Davis/JWP/Ramirez/Osvaldo/Whoever. and as with everyone else, if they're not playing as the striker they're playing just off of them

Agree0 Disagree0

If you have listened to Pochettino's tactics then you'll know that our play revolves more around shape than formation. Lallana plays all over the field, Rodriguez too! Rodriguez is only starting on the left because that is his most effective starting spot. Moving him into the centre won't get the team more goals but I see your point.

Agree2 Disagree0

I understand pochs tactics. As I previously said jrod does get himself into more advanced positions and rotate. But, more often than not, jrod is on the left, lambert as the striker. When the other team has the ball, lambert is the leading man. The times when we do break from our own half, our only real creative player is lallana. We may have to agree to disagree on this one, but if there is any substance to diego, I would expect to see jrod in lamberts role more often.
Saintsmiff

Agree0 Disagree2

Jay Rod is a good player, who will become a great player with time. Just needs to work on his composure in front of goals a bit. I hope he stays with us long term.

However, I agree with those that have posted that we don't create enough chances. We absolutely don't. Our 'chance creation' this year has been poor. The only players we have who can make incisive defence-splitting passes are Lallana and Ramirez (granted Lambert can play a good through ball every now and then). In my opinion we absolutely need another attacking midfield type of player. With the squad we've got now, I would play Osvaldo, Lallana, J-Rod and Ramirez in te front four. Give Ramirez heaps of game time, and if he doesn't improve then sell him in the summer.

Agree2 Disagree0

Saint smiff, firstly its saint stuie and secondly he's not playing in midfeild we play three upfront everygame, he is on the end of most chances, he likes to run at teams because he has blistering pace he's also our best striker at the club because he has most strikes, your welcome

st stuie

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on St Stuie, Rodriguez is certainly not the person to leave out our sell, to make way for a creative midfielder. If you watch the attacking three they rotate all the time. It just so happens Rickie is left up top when other teams have the ball, as he has less pace than the other attacking players to track back and there is no sense pulling the only attacking player back we have that can bring the ball down, keep it and bring others into play.

As someone said above, if J-Rod had a bit more composure in front of goal he would be a top premiership player and I strongly expect the coaches have identified this and will look to improve him.

Mike

Agree1 Disagree0

I think you are missing my point stu, I like jrod, I think he is a good player. He does have blistering pace, but more often than not, he runs with the ball into dead ends. Starts on the left runs at the defence and either gets tackled or knocks the ball too far. Off the top of my head I can think of two goals in the pl, where he has put that to good use. Other goals he has scored have been when he's already in the box and a cross or summin comes in.
I think we could benefit with more creativity. I think putting jrod in the advanced role and a more creative player where jrod was.
I get the rotation but if u look at other strikers with few goals, they usually have had tons of chances. Can't think of lambert miss ring many sitters this year. Not enough chances created IMO. The way your talking we should be top of the league

Mancienne being considered as back up if yoshida forces a move. He can play all across the back 4 and DM and would love another crack at the PL.

Believable2 Unbelievable6

I think this would be a good bit of business. He is well known for his technical ability, although I believe he would only be used as a back up to lovren and fonte.
Saint smiff

Agree3 Disagree3

Even if he was only a backup. Better than Hooiveld in my opinion.

Agree7 Disagree0

'even if he was only a backup' what's the point in buying backup? they and the club will only be in the same position Barnard and Forte are in at the moment. buy better than what we have, use what we have for backup

Agree2 Disagree3

Mancienne is Corky's mate from Chelsea academy, however I don't think there's much truth in this as we only buy players from Celtic. We must be interested in Virgil van Dijk or Steven Mouyokolo.

Agree0 Disagree8

If I remember rightly we have only bought 2 from Celtic hooiveld and wanyama boruc and fox have played there thought

Agree2 Disagree0

I quite like Manciene and he's still young and has the potential to be better than Fonte IMO, wouldn't be too expensive, I think this would be a good deal

Agree1 Disagree0

What was it you liked, his hair? He played on loan at Wolves in the PL and they were hardly good. No idea how he's done in Germany and no idea where this rumour has come from

Southampton in talks with Valencia over banega.
Banega is now looking to leave Valencia, with southampton unsuccessful in the summer.
Southampton are now prepared to up their previous offer of 8. 5 m to match Valencia's valuation.
Man utd are also rumoured to be interested, but not as a first choice January target.

Believable4 Unbelievable9

We all know that Saints are signing noone in this window I don't know what that says about the club s ambition its clear that we need reinforcements but Cortese is not prepared to spend.

Agree5 Disagree5

To post above. maybe there is no money to spend. or they are awaiting the summer to secure premiership football this season and re-group in summer. maybe selling to finance moves, Osvaldo has not settled yet (but remember similar story to suarez when he arrived)look at him now. Ramierez may go. As for Luke Shaw £30m scouted about, if we sell him we need a suitable replacement first. The only business I can see saints doing is players going out on-loan. Lee, Shape maybe Yosidha. Also what has happened to Banard and Forte? maybe they be released if they havnt already. As for Banega if we were signing him this would of been done in the summer.

Agree2 Disagree4

"Cortese is not prepared to spend"

Which area of your ar$e did you pull that nugget from?!

Agree11 Disagree0

Rumour has it that Valencia are to be bought, so this may change anyway.

Agree5 Disagree0

This would be good if true, but I also heard Valencia May be bought. If true then banega will be going nowhere.
I do believe such I big signing would most likely be done in the summer to allow him to adapt to the epl
Saint smiff

Agree1 Disagree1

How can you adapt in the summer to the PL? Oh like Osvaldo!

Half a season to adjust and hit the ground running for a full season. If the sale of Valencia happens his sale may become more or less likely, if you can get him now at a fair price, do it.

Agree2 Disagree1

Osvaldo was not around for the pre-season to adapt in the summer!

Agree3 Disagree0

Agreed valencia to be brought and invest £50 million euros in players. cannot see Bangera going. and if he does it wouldn't be until the Summer

Agree1 Disagree0

Been saying this in the summer and I stand by it now, WE DO NOT NEED ANOTHER CM, we need a wide player with pace not another central player

Agree0 Disagree3

^ we don't play with wide players. having a winger in the team would be as useless as a portsmouth fan

Agree2 Disagree1
