Media saying lovren to sign for Liverpool in next 48 hours, if this is to happen, unless at least 4 top quality players are signed, were in for a big relegation battle

Believable13 Unbelievable12

Why is everyone so negative?
Pelle will replace Lambert
Tadic will replace lallana
Targett repalces Shaw (+maybe an experienced lb)
IF lovren goes i'm sure we will find a good replacement (Vlaar?) especially if we get the reported £25mil
We have so much youth coming through aswell, we prided ourselves on our youth coming through last year, why does everyone now want to throw that out the window and buy in loads of players

Agree15 Disagree8

I really hope not, after all this club has done over the past 5 years it would be a massive let down for us to get relegated, but I still think we'd be able to come back stronger than ever, we've come back from worse before.

Agree4 Disagree3

The fees being quoted suggest Redknapp's media connections are behind this particular gem. They are lower than the previous offer for starters which is very likely. Clearly trying to put Caulker off of us to push through his move to being highly overpaid at a club which should be relegated on merit. Appalling the way they are dealing with finances. FFP really better give them a slaughtering come the end of the season, otherwise what's the point for clubs like us who try to build in an even vaguely responsible manner by pushing through young English talents.

Lets hope its as reliable as arsenals accepted bid for mario balotelli

Apparently for £16m
A flaming disgrace. %¥€ him!

Agree2 Disagree1

We have to sort it out with the whole Caulker episode c'mon Ronald beat arry to him!!

Agree4 Disagree3

We've replaced who we've sold with players who are as good, if not better.

The youth and Mayuka look like they could be a decent answer to the pace problem

We had 4 new players join the first team at the start of last season and made the best start to a PL season we've ever had, there's no reason why that couldn't happen again.

Things at the club aren't as bad a some would think. Sometimes you have to take a step backwards in order to take 2 forward

with all the top players movimg om from saints
cant see ant top players wanting to come here
thinking why are they all leaving and what's the reasons behind it all
also hearing lovren going for 16 million if that is right
that is 4 millio less that was turned down
sorry but I said before do not trust reed and krueger both out of their depth

The first media reports of us turning down £20m for Lovren were well wide of the mark money wise. If it is £16m this time, there are add ons to bring it up to £20m. Brendan could have bought him last season for £8 / £8.5m, so with his head that far up 'there', glad he's gone. let's start spending!

It's the players you can't trust Forestsaint.
Koeman will get better replacements for the mercenaries.

Agree3 Disagree2

It's all very well and good replacing sold players with like-for-like, but we were already a thin squad, which needed bulking up rather than maintaining. If/when Lovren leaves, we will need two CBs. Targett is still untested at the top level, so a LB is needed. Boruc worries me with his distribution and decision making, so IMO we need a GK. if Morgan leaves I think we've got adequate cover for the time being, but we still need another CF. So, that's a GK, 2 x CB, LB, CF at the bare minimum. Five players of at least the quality we have sold in four weeks, or we may struggle. I don't think we'll be in the relegation scrap some are suggesting, but after the past few years I want us to keep pushing forwards; it's what Markus would've wanted!

Agree2 Disagree1

I think the main thing we need to know, is if koeman are giving these transfers the go ahead. He said he wanted lovren to stay, but has he since spoke to him and decides the cons outweigh the pros in him staying. I say get rid of the last of the pro cortese era, and build again under koeman.
Relegation battle? I don't think so. But say if we do get dragged in, we are southampton and are famous for our famous escapes! Here's to an exciting season for many reasons!

Agree1 Disagree2

JMsaint - I don't actually think most fans are negative as such, more worried as saints needed to strengthen before players were sold. I posted some time ago that players would be leaving and would look to youth in addition to some signings for around the 20 million mark in total but with lovern and possible others going now (lovern at the time had no wish to leave) that figure should go up. I am not going into what I have heard in recent weeks as you just get slated by the minority but I am afraid that everyone has their price and the stance from Reed that all in coming transfer fees will be reinvested is not accurate.

Linked with Leicester forward Vardy. Am sure I read this before but now being mentioned on news now

Believable0 Unbelievable13

Would be a terrible buy. Probably nothing but paper rubbish let's hope, need to be a hell of a lot more ambitious then jamie vardy

Agree12 Disagree1

I hope all these uninspiring links that have cropped up over the weekend are a smokescreen and deals for better players are being tied up on the quiet. Here's hoping anyway.

Article on news now saying jayrod is going to snub our talks to see how much the other teams want him. I hope this is rubbish.

Believable10 Unbelievable4

Unfortunately unless saints sign more top quality players and soon the likes of jayrod, lovren and sneiderlain will force moves, fact, hurry up les Reid.

Agree13 Disagree2

He is in a position where he doesn't have to sign a new deal. He can wait til the winter to see how we are getting on under koeman, and see what teams are interested in him. I'm not sure he will sign a new deal now, with 3 years left on his contract. If he decided he wanted to move, it would be harder for him to force it through if he had a lengthy contract.
I just hope he decides to commit, and signs the new deal. If he doesn't, this would indicate he is looking to move. Maybe not now, but to re evaluate in January

j rod been got at
just like shaw and lallana
would like koeman to get lovren schneiderlan r j rod
in his office and sort it out once and for all if they want to go let them go for top price and the club moves on
these rumours often prove to be right
forestsaint

Agree6 Disagree0

Just remember that a lot of these rumours are there just to sell papers and most have absolutely no facts behind them at all.
Its silly season at the moment. Because we have a little cash to spend we are being linked with every player that plays in the positions we need filling.
Likewise our "top" players are being linked away.
For example Chambers was recently linked with Arsenal but my feeling was that this was only whispered around to help push the Debuchy move through.
Be patient. it will be fine

Lazy journalists. That's all. Let's promote more youngsters. And buy a few experienced players well be fine. Thankfully Liverpool have bought Remy. Not sure where J Rod could go that would actually be better. We should buy Forster if we can get him for under 10m. A CB, is a must. An LB in the squad would be helpful. Maybe one other attacker. Someone like Berharino from West Brom maybe or Redmond. Targett, JWP, Gallagher and Mayuka to step it up. The latter has serious pace which I can see RoKo liking.

Agree3 Disagree3

Not all of it is lazy journalism, let's not forget 3 quality players have left this summer

Agree4 Disagree1

I think MoPo whilst stringing along Les Reid was off as early as April and did his fair share of de-stabilising these players now mentioned above.

Agree10 Disagree0

20 Jul 2014 14:55:08
Those three clearly were not lazy journalism. But JRod is unlikely to have decided anything, nor is he likely to do so quickly given he is coming back from injury and we have a new manager so he has not had a chance to impress. Of course he is going to see how things okay out before committing. Stating the obvious is by definition lazy journalism.

Agree4 Disagree0

At the end of the day there is nothing we can do to prevent jrod and co from leaving, if they want to live their dreams for example to play CL football then theirs nothing we can do about it, but I think with the new manager these players that might be leaving don't know what RoKo has to offer, so IMO they should wait until winter to assess how well the club has progressed then make a decision on whether to leave, also, players like Omar Rowe and such who haven't really played in the first team much have shown tonnes of potential, for example Rowe managed to bag himself a hat trick yesterday and if he could do that for the first team we would have the perfect replacement for jrod, not that I want anyone to leave, c'mon led Reid, get it sorted fast so we don't lose anymore stars, COYR!

Agree3 Disagree1

20 Jul 2014 18:52:37
it would take stupid money to get jrod

Agree3 Disagree0

20 Jul 2014 21:04:27
It would also take a medical miracle, s1!

Jrod is VERY unlikely to be playing again until AFTER this window has closed. So what is the point of speculating about 6 or 12 months ahead- we could have won the EPL and qualified for the CL by the time any deal for JRod was considered, so how is it relevant to this window and current events?

Agree2 Disagree2

I hope JRod does not go if he does it will show his real nature and how selfish he is, after the way saints have looked after him all through his injury, I believe in Ron K he will make this club better and stronger.

We have apparently targeted dusko tosic to fill the l. b gap

Believable5 Unbelievable2

Very uninspiring, thought with all the money that's come in we would buy better players than this, we still need gk, CH, RM, cf and lb time is ticking need to get a hurry on

I agree with saint marco, not very inspiring. Maybe a short term fix until Targett is ready for regular first action.

Agree7 Disagree2

Be 30 in January so doesn't seem to make much sense. Must be a younger LB out there that can do the job.

Agree6 Disagree1

He could be being brought in as cover for Targett?
