With Toby Alderweirled going off with a quad/thigh strain issue it is likely that RK will bring in another central defender (we needed one anyway) this transfer window - does this open up the door to Bruno Martins Indi? Or have Eds any other candidates that are likely to be purchased or loaned?

{Ed002's Note - Transfer policy will not have changed in the past hour and Southampton's interest in Bruno Martins Indi is well known.}

If Alderweireld isn't too bad (2-3 weeks, say), they might just recall Stephens from his loan at Swindon and try to make do until Yoshida returns.

It might mean if Toby is out for a couple of weeks a blessing in disguise to force our hand in signing Martins Indi. Toby might not stay so we need to be prepared and by the way I thought Gardos was fantastic when he came on, I was unsure about him before but he seems to be learning the Saints way of playing. Great manager Koeman of that there is no doubt, can we keep him ?

Agreed - i never said transfer policies would change, i expressed that if we are one centre back down it is likely that we will look to load or purchase another as cover. We may have got one anyway - now there is more need/chance.

I have a feeling Morgan will still want to leave at the end of the season. As Gary Neville said yesterday, he would walk into any team in the Prem. We have a ready made replacement in Toby (if he stays) with Indi as the new centre back. Those two will certainly give us options as they are so versatile.

Toby isn't a replacement for Shneiderlin??? If we get top 4 I doubt Morgan will want to leave anyway as he wants Champions League football

Agree with St Sam, Alderweireld, whilst he's done well there, he's not a DM - isn't that how he picked up the hammy injury too?

Reckon it'll be tough but we could convince Morgan to give it another season if we finish top 4. Though if he's off I'd rather it be done sooner rather than later and not miss out on a top replacement

If we do make CL football this season, spider might just stay one more season to get his dream, plus to see how we do in that. but I do know wages do come into it. And if this is the corner we about to turn and become regular top 4/6 finishers, then you never know. But most importantly, spider is just one player. We found him, we can find another.

I've said it before and I'll say it again Spider could walk into any team not just in the premier league but in any league he is that good. Regardless of whether we get into champions league or not it would be almost impossible to keep him. Would be seriously surprised if he went Tottenham can see him getting a big offer this summer. He has been our best player for years mopping up at the back, making big tackles and converting defense into attack. He would be very difficult to replace. He is an complete all round midfielder and I for one would be gutted if/ when he goes. But for now I'll keep dreaming he will stay with us for years to come.

My dream scenario is make top four with arsenal missing out, then flog him to arsenal anyway so he still hasn't got cl football. Spider is class but as we have shown, any player in the team can be replaced, credit must go to the board and coaching staff, not just a couple of individuals
