EDS please can you give an idea of what positions we will buy in and how many signings you think we'll make I'm getting bored of saints in this transfer window.

we've played 2 pre-season games. one against an u23's side where pretty much everyone played out of position and we've still not got everyone back. Can't judge anyone yet.

Redmond looks like he'll pick up a few. He scored 6 in 35 last season, Mane scored 11 in 37 (from a more direct position) . J-Rod being back fit could mean 5-10 goals, Charlie Austin having a decent pre season and staying mostly fit could mean another 10-15 goals this season.

So really, even at our present state (and without promoting any youth) we've essentially gained a striker on this time last season and only down 5 goals on Mane's total from last season with Redmond.

If both have shaken off there injuries
Both are more than capable but it's if they don't have any reaccuring problems
Both should know each other's game from there burnley days
And if this is the case they could bag a a bucket load between them.

How can people say we need a holding midfielder? So many player's in our squad can play in that position, if anything it's where we have the most depth! I'd like a real good quality CB, unless the boss thinks Stephens is ready, I think Gazzaniga will be used as the 2nd goal keeper, who knows maybe Valery will be the 2nd RB, we also have Isgrove or McQueen on the flanks so depends on who the manager feels is ready to step up really, although I would like a quality winger. I'm not saying all these are ready, but will be interesting to see given how keen the new manager is to promote the academy.

We really don't need another holding midfielder. Reed can come through, hojberg has been bought, romeu was wanyamas in house replacement. Puel might not even play with 2 holding midfielders. We've got plenty of players and options there. I agree with the j-rod and Austin comments. They are almost like new signings. but there are certainly doubts with their injury records. maybe puel is seeing whether Gallagher can stake a claim as backup? This is our whole ethos: giving youth a chance. if we just buy more and more players we are blocking the pathways for our young homegrown talent. I think the rest of our business will be done in about a months time, once puel has had a chance to assess our strengths and weaknesses. Remember we didn't sign van dijk until pretty late last year. same with alderweireld the year before. this is the most relaxed summer transfer window I've had for a few years. trust the board to get it right.

We have lost 2 strikers (one that barely ever played and when he did he got 1 goal) and we have 2 incredible strikers back from injury. By my maths, we have the same as last year. Don't panic, I actually see a striker signing as a bad sign as it would be an indication that j rod or c aunt has lost it and the gaffer doesn't think they are good enough. Don't panic! The striker situation is one that the club will be keeping a very close eye on as we need goals. J rod and Charlie will be watched very closely to make sure they are sharp fit and reliable. Plus, we have Shane long!

I didn't think of that Jamesaint but your right, maybe if we did sign a striker that's a sign that Charlie or Jay aren't expected to make full recoveries.

Charlie Austin scored 18 goals the season that QPR went down. His goals coring record at every club he's been at is incredible. Yes he had a bad injury last year but he's looking fit now. If the injury was that much of an issue he would not have passed the medical when he signed.
He will score goals for us.

We still need a striker, we've got Long, Austin and JRod but with Austin's knee he's never going to be fully fit and I'm still unsure as to whether JRod can get back to his best or if he can keep injury free. Leaving Long as our only premier league ready option upfront.
