Well that was really annoying rather than disappointing today. Watford's first goal nothing could have been done to stop it, McCarthy was on the floor and made an effort to recover, but a little bit late. And then their second goal was a handball and shouldn't have been allowed. As for saints though I thought we played really well, especially in the first half, and not too bad in the second half, and unfortunately we conceded a soft, unlucky goal and a controversial goal.

#PellegrinoOut that's my view of today's game, absolutely clueless 2nd half.

Couldn’t agree more Byron, he did it again got in a winning position and tried to sit on it. Regardless of the handball goal we just let them come at us in the second half. The manager is clueless, the players aren’t, we have quality players and a manager that isn’t.

I was disappointed in romeu. should of put him on deeney and roughed him up. they let him boss it. Officials should have to make public apologies after such a poor decision and sorry davis was at fault for the first goal. thought McCarthy made a great save and actually 3 defenders were slow to react. what would peoples opinions be if the second goal was disallowed and we had won. I feel it was a good game we played well and were unlucky. shows we need some muscle and some physicality. I don't mean could and bad attitude I mean aggression and strong tackles.

Byron, please feel free to back up your view that today’s result was down to Pellegrino’s management.

Saint Chris, Rayzer makes a fair point. What would you say if we had won today? You assume that Pellegrino instructed the players to protect the lead but you’re ignoring the fact that Watford, the home side, came out for the second half after being motivated by their manager, booed off by their fans and with a substitution made ready to change their approach. They had nothing to lose and came flying at us. In some situations, you can’t just fight the opposition off the ball and carry on attacking them at will. There are spells in every game where the opposition takes control and you have to manage that as best you can. Sporting contests are so often dictated by momentum and when the opposition has it, its very difficult to wrestle back but I think we coped pretty well with Watford. Irrespective of their play or ours, we would’ve won today but for a handball.

There is literally nothing this team or manager will be able to do to appease some fans. I honestly don’t understand why you bother.

Figo we didn't win regardless of the dodgy goal, maybe just maybe when we are in the Championship you may feel the majority of us were talking s nose.

Sorry about that iPad had a mind of it's own. How many points could we have had if we hadn't decided to sit back. I think the first half proved that if we go on the front foot we have players that can cause problems. Just fed up with some people saying we are moaning. We are moaning but for the right reasons, look where we are in the league, crazy. We're better than that .

See your point ****, and see the others too. fact is the bloke is inept. He hasn't got a clue. brought lemina on for Davis for legs and to shore it up, but then no change until the 93rd minute when we'd already conceded. If he wanted to protect the league he could have stuck another defender on. If wanted to get us back up the pitch and on the front foot he could have made a change up top with either gabbi or boufal. he did NOTHING! He sat on It, crossed his fingers and hoped for the best. Take out the freak drubbing of Everton when they were in freefall under unsworth and we'd be in the bottom 3. This manager is awful.

Figo - you hit the nail on the head, Watford came out motivated by their manager. How many times can we say that for a second half this season?

You might be right Figo. But if the manager is taking that approach about a commanding lead at half time, then they clearly don't have a clue about the premier league. And yes protect the lead - that to me doesn't mean that you should sit back and try to defend your goal for 45 minutes. That to me says keep possession keep your shape, close down the opposition when they've got the ball.
They may have scored in the last minutes of the match with a handball. However, we should have never been in the position to let that happen.
