Must mean business and get a central defender in. I can't see why we aren't searching for a young goalkeeper either. McCarthy should not be No1.

12 Aug 2021 12:29:12
Why not put £75 million price tag on Ward Prowse?

1.) 12 Aug 2021 12:35:57
Could do but if a club puts in a good bid and he wants to leave there’s no stopping it. Give us £40m and you can have him I say. Hopefully not in this window as well though else you’ve lost the senior spine of your team in two weeks which doesn’t bode well.

2.) 12 Aug 2021 13:06:09
Probably not a good idea, he could well get sold at that, its more important to keep him as the central cog of our team.!
What would you go and buy with the £75 million? Didn't do us any good when we sold and wasted £75 million from VVD did it!

3.) 12 Aug 2021 15:16:09
I would be happy to go and buy Maehle from Atalanta. For sale and can gaggle them down. Ralf has wanted him for a while and with money made and sale of Vesta would make good sense. Only 24 and looks amazing:

4.) 12 Aug 2021 16:18:43
I’ve wanted Maehle for ages as well. Shame all of our Danes who wouldn’t encouraged him to join have left.

5.) 13 Aug 2021 12:23:27
SaintGGsy 40 million, you must be joking. If grealish is worth 100 million then JWP has to be 60 million all day long! Vestergaard would defiantly big our club up to any potential danish signings, he is moving on because of his age and the money Leicester can offer him along with European football. No brainer for him really but he would surely suggest to any danish suitor that Southampton is a great place to ply your trade.

6.) 13 Aug 2021 19:29:22
I agree with SaintGGsy, Sometimes i think fans no the 'Cost of Everything and the Value of Nothing" JWP is the Heart of the Saints, and that's worth more than just cash.
Think some of the Danish players such as Maehle are excellent, but we missed a trick when he was circa £10 million.
Not sure where we are going to find a Central Defender with heigh, and we need that, maybe Phillips from Liverpool looks a sensible bet?
Still think we've had a cracking closed season and want to say a 'Big Thank You" to all of the Saints staff that have made that happen.
Question: What do you think the Everton v Saints score will be tomorrow?

7.) 13 Aug 2021 22:08:43
@pete I wasn’t suggesting we sell JWP far from it. What I was saying that if you have to put a figure on his head well 40 million is just nowhere near enough. 60 million is nearer the mark! In regards to a defensive signing I just wonder if we are considering Maitland-Niles, now I know he is normally a central defender but he can play central mid or right back. Would that be tempting for Ralph, especially as he likes playing player out of posistion.

8.) 13 Aug 2021 22:46:55
In answer to your question Pete - I’m calling 1-1. JWP pen and late equaliser. Early start in the morning but looking forward to it as never been to Goodison Park before.
Still time to get a keeper in and persuade the Ox to join us on loan.

9.) 14 Aug 2021 09:01:47
The ox on loan would be amazing and I would have to say one of the best transfer windows I can remember. Just don’t see ox coming to us : ( but I’m praying 🙏.

04 Aug 2021 19:49:25
Well Danny Ings has gone. Perhaps he knows he can't last the pace and got what he can while he can. Don't think he looked right at the end of last season so perhaps £25m can be put to good use.

If Grealish is worth £100m then Ward Prowse is worth £75m and not a penny less

He is our Talisman . Ings never was.

1.) 04 Aug 2021 23:01:18
Gutted he's gone and really hope they use the money to replace him.

Defence is terrible. goalkeeper out of his depth, no full back no one commanding .

Attack is clueless

Have we seen the last of Ralph?

There needs to be major restructuring but is there a way and is there money?

1.) 18 May 2022 08:09:40
I have to applaud the successful results achieved by Eddie Howe in such a short time at Newcastle FC.Since Jan.this year NUFC have risen from 19th position in the EPL to several places and 6 POINTS above Southampton FC.This obviously indicates that Eddie’s Management Skills along with his Coaching Staff are far superior to those of SFC.Considering it was well known that Eddie Howe made himself available to manage the Saints FC but the Hierachy opted to remain with Ralph Hasenhuttl in retrospect it appears that a huge opportunity was missed by the Club Apparently he has now risen to ‘Hero Status’. among NUFC supporters and a similar repeat occurance very unlikely now that he’s established in a much Bigger, wealthier progressive Club.A large proportion of SFC Fans would hope that this error of judgement by the Board will not be repeated in the future.

2.) 18 May 2022 20:56:03
Agree with all above but just answer this if you will - how many Saints players would get into a combined Newcastle/Saints team?
I can think of 3 maybe …and the Geordies are a mid-table squad.
I was mistaken about McCarthy - he’s actually even worse than I thought.
And for light entertainment here’s an adaptation to the new Scouser anthem to the Beatle’s tune of ‘I feel fine’…
Instead of “Jurgen said to me you know, we’ll win the Premier League, you know he said so……”

“Ralph he said to me, you know, we’ll finish seventeenth you know he said so….”

It amused me, but maybe I should get out more often!

Only one more miserable weekend of PL inaction to go…

Like you style Millertime! We have to introduce light hearted banter into our posts or we would all end up dispirited and dreary like Ralph That said it has triggered an interview on tv recently featuring Ralph after a match he garbled sentences all of which I can only remember his frequent use of JAH! .How on earth are his PLAYERS expected tor comprehend his instructions (which for some reason reminded me of SCHULZ a character in an American tv Comedy called HOGAN’S HEROES (1965-1971).If you remember or have seen an episode it will reasonate.and surely bring a smile to your face! Finally in answer to your initial question:: Maybe 2/3 players right now but possibly 9/10 back in January when NUFC were probably the. worst team in the Premiership and heading for almost certain relegation. This emphasises my point re the difference in COACHING methods and TEAM SELECTION between the two Clubs by playing players in their best positions which generates confidence and subsequently gets a little more effort enjoyment and finally a winning formulae which in turn has elevated NUFC to a Mid-Table Squad.

4.) 19 May 2022 22:11:36
Heh Johnnyst - that brings back memories and I see the resemblance!
You are spot on about how much difference a coach can make - look at Eddie now - cult hero and I too was hoping that he would join us. I had him earmarked as a future England manager - he has a lot of similar traits as Southgate - calm and dignified (most of the time) and both respected and liked by the players. Not bad tactically either!
As for playing players out of position - I make you right. McCarthy’s best position is somewhere out in the car park yet he puts him between the sticks - why?

24 Apr 2022 16:52:26
If Jack Grealish is worth £100 million then JWP must be worth far more.,JWP will be in the England World Cup squad if he remains with Saints but he won't be if he goes to a bigger club and warms the bench

24 Apr 2022 14:48:20
We will be very near the bottom of the league. we must get some re players in this summer or else next year we really will be relegated

Both goalkeepers are out for some time now . Forster perhaps for the season? What can we do? Do we have to wait until January?

Personally I think we need a new goalkeeper! McCarthy not PL standard.

Oh dear me dreadful. I don’t wish Ings well. His career was resurrected by Daints and he has let them down badly. I do hope the fee is reasonable and EatdProwse doesn’t do the same.

What’s happening to our club. Do they want to be in the Championship again?

Tedmond has been weak all year. Can’t pass, can’t defend, can’t score.
