I see the BooHoo crew is back out! stabbing the hand that feeds them. They seem so angry, lost of all hope! Well maybe I can give a little hope back to the boohoo crew. let's wipe our tears and blow your runny nose, the old dream is dead! no don't cry again!. The new dream is just beginning! :)

We had a great 5 years where we took some academy players mixed with a few good seasoned players, climbed up the league, shed the weaker players as we stepped up divisions and added better players to strengthen the squad. It resulted in our highest PL finish. But those players-assets wanted to move on, hard pill to swallow, but it is a reality, there is very little one can do when the big clubs come calling. That dream has died, go away and morn as long as you like, as long as it takes you to get over it. Then come back with some fresh points of view.

The new dream starts. People we have a great new manager. This new dream starts with Roko, for without a quality manager that can spot and nurture young talent we will never be successful again. But he has shown he can develop world class players and we have 7 academy players in the first team!! here is our new dream team!! 5 are only 19, this is great news, we have a new crop of SFC academy players that if given a few years to develop can eclipse what the lallana, shaw, chambers group did. This will not be easy, they don't have the lower leagues to hone their skills like lallanna had. We have to give them time to develop, to make mistakes, unfortunately the PL is a harsh place to learn, they will have to grow thick skin for all the numpties that will want instant success and skill from teenagers. But if we get behind this new crop of hopefuls, give them time and patience to grow into the PL, we will have another squad full of home grown players that can reach for the top 7.

This dream has a shelf life too. If, in a few year, our 19 year old are now 22 and setting the prem alight, we will have the big clubs coming in again. If our revenue income has not substantially increased to allow us to pay higher wages, we will again be at the mercy of the big boys. If we can increase revenue we maybe able to keep players wages high enough to see a SFC academy team make it to the top. For this I hold Kreuger responsible, not transfers, not speaking poorly for the club, not knowing football, he was brought in to increase our international profile, increase our fan base, increase off field revenue!

So let's get behind this new dream, our club is about producing some of the best English footballers out there, what is to say they are not already here and ready for our support! Saints go marching on!

God how refreshing Bermuda Saint to have someone on here that tells it as it is. Too many on these forums seem to be the " stab your granny in the back " type people who are totally selfish. All they seem to think is that our football club is about to disintegrate every time something happens that they don't like. I have said it before, true supporters are the ones that trust the club to make the right decisions. Some of the decisions that are made are out of their hands and that if players want to move on they try to negotiate but usually with no avail. We have had troubled times in the recent past but PLEASE allow Roko and the board time to get things sorted out, however, these things don't happen overnight. We have shown interest in a lot of players recently and a lot of you shout " Just get on with it and sign him " but that is not so easy if the player and agents either want too much money and also if the player himself doesn't seem keen on the move. We do not want the likes of the QPR manager philosophy as in " Oh dear lost again, let's spend another 10 million to sort it out". How people as in Fernandez can't see through this truly amazes me. Support the Saints in good times and in bad that is the sign of a true supporter, but most importantly give Koeman and the board a proper chance. 100% support at the next home game is essential, no way is criticising the likes of Pelle going to help him improve. Remember back to your schooldays and being urged on by your parents on the touchline, this is the same thing but on a much larger scale.

2.) Well said Bermuda Saint!

Financially we are in a far stronger position following the exodus, with a far stronger squad - unfortunately it will take time for the squad to gel, so we currently have a far weaker team.

Given a little time, I'm sure that Roko will emulate and approve upon last seasons relative success.

WHERE HAS THE 20 YARD SHOT GONE?!! I don't get it, we get in good positions outside the box, in central positions, with no defenders closing down, yet we still chose to pass sideways or through a defense that is waiting for the through ball, because those defenders don't need to step out and pressure the man, because we don't shoot from outside of the box!! our three advance CM, JWP, Davis, and tadic don't shoot long range shots! Spidey doesn't and wanyama has tried a few time but never been on target. Why has this attacking option been forgotten, banned, shelved. are the keepers so good these days the that the percentage of scoring is so low it is not worth trying? we must have a few long range cracks at goal, it will draw a defender off the line to prevent the next on you try. Not a great game, but far from a disaster.

1.) It's been a feature of our game for the last few seasons. What concerns me more, based on the baggies game was a lack of ability to get to the byline and get quality balls into the box - since that's why we brought in Pelle.

Not only that, we never got behind their defense, we didn't have any penetration, and lacked the quality to break down the Baggies.

Defensively we'll be strong, but we do lack quality attacking options. Jay-Rod will certainly add to that, and I think we'll see Taider soon, but we definitely need another winger.

Also, according to Cork's wife who is a friend of my neighbour, Saints wanted to take the money for him. £3m! In my mind that's criminal!

Just one more quick word though. Fraser Forster - what a keeper!

2.) 26 Aug 2014 18:44:36
Think it might be best to praise Forster to those heights when he actually has to make a proper save. We were poor they were worse.

WOW, what a start to the season, many questions answered for me on that field! Even with a narrow loss to liverhampton, I can't keep the grin off my face. We were good, very good at times, the soccer pundits in Canada wanted to blab about Liverpool's accomplishments but had to recognise what a good performance we put in and how unlucky we were not to come away with points. They echoed many people's fears (too many on this site) about a team that had been decimated of it's most talented players and coach, and feared how they would fare in the coming season, but they saw what we all saw. A team that is continuing on our path of playing good attacking football with a new group of talented players to go with the already solid group.
I have been very optimistic of our direction since the appointment of Roko, and tried to encourage the pessimistic on here that we will be ok, we are still heading in the right direction, lots of drama to come! but with a good new coach and new players fitting in we can only improve as we gel and new players get used to the PL.
I have seen the future, we all have, I just didn't understand the importance of this young man. JWP is the new Mr. Saint, the one that will lead our new generation of academy products into the light of the poaching CL clubs. If he can fulfill his potential, continue his progression into the English national team then he will be the next to be tempted away. JWP must be given time to mature, he doesn't have the luxury of honing his skills in the lower divisions like lalla, spidy, clyne. Etc. he will have to prove himself against the world class players. Tough task, but his academy coaches, English Intl. youth managers, Mopo and Roko have seen enough to put this boy in the starting 11. I have to trust their judgment, the fans need to get behind him and support him because he could be the leader of our next golden generation. We have heard good things about our academy products, many on the verge of first team football, if this is the case (our academy has been right to far) then they must be good, very good but are still very young! Most good footballers are maturing into their skill in their early 20's, that leaves a few years for our academy products to ripen into the type of players that are confident in their game.

Here is a Villa fans views on Vlaar. "as a villa fan, you can have him. If you look at his individual stats both with us and before in a lesser league, they are poor to say the least. He is unbelievably injury prone (both before us and with us, there is a joke about how he always takes Christmas off) and the "concrete" thing is a joke made up by previous supporters that's been misconstrued into a compliment (this was explained when Villa bloggers interviewed fans of his ex club before he's even played for us). He's deceptively slow and does not command the aerial duals. At best he is a ball playing centre half who needs a "thug" (admittedly something we don't have) next to him. But the biggest caution of all lies in this. he's 29, not some young gun, if he was really any good, and not one world cup good, I mean really really any good, don't you think someone better than us would have signed him long before we got anywhere near him. He had an appalling euros in which he was dropped after the first game too remember. We didn't unearth a hidden gem, we took a gamble on someone else, including the club he was at, at the time, didn't want to touch. Be careful what you wish for, all that glitters isn't gold. I just hope we drive the price up, it's the only thing Lambert's any good at. "

I WOULD RATHER HAVE BENTEKE from Villa.

The Board keep "ROCKING MY WORLD"! in a good way! keep on selling our most valued assets! YES PLEASE!

The players have ripened to a succulent juicy status, the money boys can't resist, they want to pick our best fruit at all cost. Our crop was ripe to pick, when the fruit began to sour (we can't make CL, I want more, my head is somewhere else), it was time to sell!!sell!! sell!!

Get with the program SFC fans! those that can see no good out of this sale of assets, we should keep them against there will!
If you haven't realized the team you have seen grow to 8th in the PL is gone, we didn't cry over the players we let go as we climb the leagues, why cry now.

I was with you, hoping our little team that could, would stick together as a unit to see how far they could really go, but that was a fragile dream, it didn't take much for the player to abandon that dream very quickly, so I will let go just as quickly, good bye, thanks for the service and the transfer money, can't wish you good luck because you are now the enemy.

Back to the AMAZING board, they are clearing out any player that is not 100% committed to Saints, no matter how good you think you are! Brought in a great coach who is well versed in rebuilding a competitive team using youth and world class experience.

I am positive we are looking at players who will continue to meet our high standards. I am prepared to give the board until the last day to get those players they want.

I would be disappointed if they finish all there business before the deadline day! yes, DISAPPOINTED! because the best players will wait until the last moment for CL teams to pass and we become a viable option.

For once we have a transfer budget to really shoot for one or two top notch players. I know we need time to gel the players, but this season is not an ideal one, so I feel we will not have our full squad together until the closing day of transfers. Not ideal, but not a disaster if the quality can be acquired.

The World CUP proved a few things to me. The first is there is a lot of quality players around the world. None of the ones we sold stood out at the WC so I am not too bothered about selling them, especially since we got great prices for them.

The second thing is a team can be thrown together if they are good and can still be competitive. Most WC team have very little time to train together, many experimenting with different players or formations right until the start of a tournament.

So the Board have shed the old and started a new. New dreams, new ambitions. I am positive because the Board has done the right thing, if you are not 100% committed they good riddance. Same to you fans, if you are not 100% committed they go support someone else.

I will eat my words and apologize to all if the board does not make a serious effort to bring in new quality players that will play the Southampton way to entertain and excite only the way SFC can.

SFC Support with loud voices, for now is the time we must show unity and Strength. Sharpen your daggers quietly, for you may have cause to use them if come end of transfer window we are left with a championship team and a lynching of the board will be well deserved, but be prepared to sever your own tongues and fingers for your condemnation of the Board if we continue to progress as a club.

I don't mean to disrespect fans or their negative opinions. I will join the lynching party if this board fails in the end, but give them until the deadline day before you decided to pull the switch on them. We may all be pleasantly surprised at the outcome. Think positive and positive tings will happen.

1.) Great post Bermuda Saint, I have been saying exactly the same thing. We might both be wrong but I have a feeling it might turn out ok.

2.) Sorry you guys are deluded.
The club is for sale. She has cashed in on the prize assets individually as she will get more money for them that way rather than as a whole.
Said this a long time ago.
We will buy in players but they will be there to steady not progress.
Its a shame as we had potentially a fantastic team this year with a couple of additions.

3.) The big worry is the position of the Manager. If he bought in to these changes he will stay if he didn't he wont.

4.) I completely agree Bermuda Saint & Chris Down J!

How about a swing for the fences type of player. Manchester City marksman Alvaro Negredo :)

or more realistic luxury signing of a former player of our coach John Guidetti from MC.

EXCELLENT news, Mane and Toby are exciting young players. If they turn out to be as exciting as Tadic (so far the find of the season, very impressed with this player, lallanna who? and Pelle, we are in for a seriously good season. Our positions that needed strengthening have been filled. The board have come good on their promise.

Will they even give us a little treat by adding another unexpected player? We have money and we are now sitting in a commanding position with our squad ready to tackle the PL. Maybe something to good to refuse may come up? Saints go marching on!

Brek Shea, wow that one is from left field! I had him in my fantasy team, mainly because he was so cheap! this one is "thinking out of the box", why him? hmmmmm. A highly regarded young MLS player, He was drafted 2nd overall by FC Dallas in the 2008 MLS SuperDraft, had several MOM and team of the week honors during his 2011 season, scoring 11 in 31 games. Full USA international ( Jürgen Klinsmann thinks he is good). Came to PL and done nothing to date. So, can we resurrect his career? a full USA intl that comes good would be a gold mine! the USA market is huge and must be in the forefront of Kreugers mind. He will be cheap and wages will be reasonable. Worth the gamble, if he becomes a star he will be worth 100x the fee. North Americans are getting all the pl soccer (i know its football to us). We have been attracting many admirers for our style and academy, new fans are looking for clubs to identify with. Manu are no longer a easy choice, and many like the underdogs with talent like SFC. This "out of the box" transfer may end up as a stoke of genius.

In the future, if the are good enough. But I would not discard Fonte too quickly. He is captain, given that role because he has the leadership, talent and loyalty to SFC. All this love for Lovren and how great he was, I always thought his success was because of Fonte's steady leadership at the back. Lovren has gone to scousehampton and so far has returned to his unremarkable form that he had before he came to SFC and resurrected his career. Although I don't get to attend games, but even on the telly I could see Mopo giving instructions to FONTE. This world class CB for Argentina and now coach knew Fonte was the key to the defense, giving his tactical info to him, not Lovren. At the time it just highlighted how the coaching staff has always regarded Fonte as a greater asset than most of the Saints fans on these forums. I remember many games that NA praised Fonte after the game for his commanding CB performance. He is 30 so one or two more years left before age will see him fade into the background. He should be given full honors from SFC for being through the entire journey back up the leagues and a huge part of our success so far.
