Imagine that you are hugely wealthy and you are well educated in business by your father. Imagine too, that your father invests in a business - in which he invests money and seems to make decisions based on sentiment rather than profit- which challenges the ideals you may have previously learnt.
You accept the fact that he deserves to pour his passion and resources into this enterprise and you support him in that.

Now imagine that he dies - and out of your love for him you decide to not only continue his dream (putting whatever plans you had for your own life on hold to an extent). But that you are greeted with suspicion, negativity and abuse for doing what you know he would want.

Imagine too, the discipline required to hear or read the abuse written about you, when you know your intentions are good, without responding in kind. I would struggle with this. I don't think I would have the strength of character.

What Markus Liebherr did for our club is unimaginably brilliant and kind. What his daughter has put up with- without response - shows genuine class, patience and resolve. I truly hope that we- the fans- could maybe start singing a song or two in appreciation for her.

Who knows - maybe she might fall in love with the club in the way that her father did and her guardianship of our beloved club would be secure for the foreseeable future.

If you agree with anything that I have said that's great. I suppose what I'm asking is that if things take a turn for the worse - as they did at the start of this summer- we now owe KL, LR and RK some patience and trust.

RK has done a wonderful job so far and that deserves praise - but we shouldn't forget those that took the abuse over the summer AND who chose RK.

1.) Well said ! Let's have a few messages of humble pie from the detractors ! After tonight all SFC fans must be on cloud 9, especially after so many commentators are questioning the wisdom of those who left, including Mopo.

A week can be a long time in football so let's hope Harry Hood bites the dust at the weekend.
Well done to all concerned, owner, management and players. Great stuff!

Hopefully today's performance might reduce some of the whingeing for a few hours. I repeat that I think that the board have navigated an unbelievably difficult window, with players wanting to leave and the departure of MP.

Perhaps some posters might post something positive about LR completing the transfers of Tadic and Pelle so effectively.

Do find it frustrating when people read a RUMOUR and then start criticising the board for not having completing the deal more quickly.

a. They're RUMOURS.
b. Players and agents are involved if the rumour happens to be true (it's not football manager on play station).

I wonder how many people will post their apologies to LR and RK if we have a successful season.

Sorry if this sounds like a whinge, but I was being provoked by other whingers!

Chilt Saint

1.) Fair post but do u really think we would have got tadic and pelle withour roko, my bet is l/r never had a clue just had to keep roko sweet and sign the cheque as such

2.) And who do you think got Rojo to Southampton?

3.) 31 Aug 2014 09:19:18
Have we just employed a new LR? I thought he was previously working with NC, with few if anyone complaining. Now, when he has been saddled with a horror summer he is to blame for everything? I suppose the summer has nothing to do with NC going, then MoPo following, then a group of players refusing to honour their contracts?
And please don't rake up the "bonus" nonsense again. Until there is a legal challenge to that issue-which there won't be-it appears very much smoke and mirrors to justify certain individuals greed.

4.) The board have been slow but have made best signing Roko.

Am loving the positivity that has returned to this site. Have been reading for 5 minutes and have not read any: Les Reed is incompetent, Katerina should sell up, I'm not renewing my season ticket comments. Or my favourite one which was the classic, oh no they are asset stripping and then selling the club!

It's fair to say that it has been a turbulent summer!

I believe that the board have done a fantastic job to get the club ready for Sunday's trip to Liverhampton. I also believe that KL deserves a bit of credit for reinvesting the lions share of the money we recouped in transfer fees (as she and LR said they would).

Hopefully, when difficult times come again we can have a little bit more faith in them.

I do agree in part and one of the reasons I have always and will always support saints is that it still has a bit of a family feel.
The board have got amazing prices for some players and the media have blown so much out of proportion its ridiculous. I think we are reasonably well prepared although there's a lot of untested. ness about the manager and certain parts of the team. I'm not saying its not going to work remotely but we did well last year because we gelled so well. There has been no real time to gel properly.
However I do understand why people have lost faith with the board. Not to the level of some screaming BURRRRN THEM! But we were told one thing and then another happened. We sold players and then had none come in for way too long with our board seemingly playing lip service to us.
Without a doubt this has the potential to be the most interesting season we have ever had since Keegan walked out in front of the media and almost yelled SUPRIIIIISE!

On hearing that Morgan's toys are are strewn all around his pram, it seems to me that an obvious solution has presented itself. Sign Jordy Clasie. I know he plays in a slightly more advanced position than Morgan, but I think he could make a big difference for us this year.

We no longer need a direct replacement for him as we have Wanyama, Cork, Taider, Reed etc. So why not use the money on Clasie who, as soon as Koeman took over, was said to be the most likely to follow his boss.

The only problem is that with Morgan, the board and Koeman, have decided to take a stand. Which is in itself great; but if it results in him either under performing or not playing this season, then it will result in a cut price deal in January or next summer. I know that football clubs should take a stand against contract rebels, but that's a stand I'd like a richer club to make!

I feel that the board were right to sell the disgruntled players this summer and get the right money, rather than risk unrest; and they should continue in the same vane with Morgan.

We are now signing some good replacements and yes we may not achieve what we did last year but we are again building for the future.

Sign up Forster, Rojo, Clasie (or Will Hughes), Patrick Roberts and Ings for 50 million quid. New contract for Jack Cork and big new contract for Jayrod.

A bit of perspective required I think. It was not long ago that we were struggling to make ends meet in league one. our club's future was in serious jeopardy. We came through that.

A lovely chap called Markus bought our club and funded the greatest comeback since Lazarus (he was a chap from the bible. who came back). This was all possible because he gifted us large amounts of cash and we were grateful.

Fast forward a few years and we are in the premier league with the best academy and facilities in the league and some great players. admittedly fewer than we had a couple of months ago.

Money can change people and my worry is that it's not our players but the FANS that have changed due to this. I'm sick of reading petulant dans slating Adam and other players for doing what most of us do in our careers. accept a pay rise. I accepted one the other day and have not received any vitriolic hate from anyone, I was congratulated! I think we have got used to someone opening the cheque book at St Mary's and spoiling us and now that may have stopped. Which is a reasonable thing to do for any owner.

A month ago we sold Ads, SRl and Luke and we all panicked! Les Reed then signed two very good replacements and we some of us calmed down again. Now we have sold a few more and we need to show patience and trust in our board that they too will be replaced. It makes sense to sell players who don't want to be at the club and it makes sense to sell for high prices. It may hurt, but it makes sense.

So can we wait til the transfer window closes before we hurl more abuse at the board or ask for refunds on season tickets please.

If, as many people on here suspect, the club are asset stripping or preparing to sell; then we should really congratulate the board on persuading a footballing legend with a great reputation in RK, to oversee it. Why would he jeopardise his good reputation?

Some fantastic players being linked with us and I for one am excited over seeing which of them join us. I love this club and am not going to withdraw that love because we have hit a bump in the road.

1.) What a lot of rubbish five years ago we had a 32 000 all purpose stadium superb training facilities and a huge fan base hardly a huge gamble marcus god bless him knew that and as a good business man saw a good oppurtunity now further down the line we have average gates of 30 000 sell out all away games best youth system in britain and making millions of pounds every year from sky the reason why players leave here is not down to money it is due to a board who won't pay the going rate for quality players and all the selling and penny pinching will ultimately see us go backwards I love saints and go home and away every week I like thousands more deserve better

2.) 27 Jul 2014 09:18:44
the fans are slating lallana lovren not for leaving saints
but the way they did it
kissing the badge when he knew he was already going
and lovren one season and threw his dummy out of the pram
forestsaint

3.) Bigcole, you talk about rubbish! It is because of comments like yours we are stirring the emotions of others into this lynch mob mentality. Not going into this too deeply but I would just say that your 32000 seater stadium was not owned by SFC and we were a cat's whisker of going out of business. The consequence of that would have been Saints would have ceased to exist. KL could have got out when her Dad died but she didn't so give her a break and show a bit of respect.

This Lallana situation is getting complicated, that is if you ignore his track record of loyalty and love for the club.

It seems that in addition to Liverpool having already signed him, Tottenham, Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City have also agreed deals. Rather than going down this rather complicated 'shared ownership' deal. I would recommend that a time share arrangement would suit all parties. This at least would alloiw Adam to arrange his diary more easily as he will know where and for whom he will be playing each week.

On another topic, the poster said that the 'internet' was reporting this story, I do hope that it hasn't started to think for itself. This could be a matter of national security. I saw this film where this very situation occurred and it was quite troubling.

Absolutely love this story, 'Arsenal to scout Schneiderlin'. Fantastic journalism! It reminds me of other wonderful journalistic gems, such as the unforgettable 'Man from London watches football match on the South Coast' story or 'person writes on notepad while watching combative Frenchman'. These stories take my mind off more trivial news such as 'Ukraine Crisis' or 'arsenal leak story to press to unsettle player'.

Thank you, the Daily Epic Fail for shielding from the horrible reality of truth!

The Les Reed bashing is getting boring now. He has overseen one of the hardest and most difficult periods for our club. We have got top dollar for players were agitating for moves and some good replacements.

Why not congratulate him on he signings he has made, rather than making assumptions about things that you don't fully understand. For all you know the transfer may be delayed for numerous reasons beyond his control.

I would be surprised if the manager left.
How often can you walk into a club and receive a transfer kitty of the size of the one available to RK? He can buy whoever he can convince to join.

How often do you have an academy with players and facilities like we have? He can further advance his reputation as a developer of young players.

On top of this fantastic opportunity, he has half the fans expecting relegation swiftly followed by the apocalypse!

Southampton is still a great club, with some great players. All we need now is some faith in the board and some GREAT support. Please stop doom mongering and whingeing. This is a rumours site, not the Samaritans!

Why a laughing stock? We have just come off the back our best season ever.

Yes we are losing some of our best players, but we still have the academy that created them or the scouting network that found them!

Getting tired of reading all the negativity and doom and gloom.

We are probably going to lose schneiderlin who we should wish well and thank him for his loyalty. Lovren may leave after a year which is disappointing.

We still have some great international players, superb English youths and more in the pipeline! Oh and about £70,000 and £100,000 to spend.

I don't get what these people who are 'laughing' at us find so amusing?

I'm looking forward to seeing some quality new signings and our youngsters developing further this year.

Are you really calling him a brat? He has been with us since 12 years old, stayed with us through relegation and virtual meltdown. 14 years of dedicated, committed service and you call him a brat? Seriously?
If you expect more of someone than this then I think you need to look closer to home to find a spoilt brat.
Obviously I would love to stay, but if he does move I will thank him for his service and wish him the best for the future.
