Hello ed001. you give such good replies, thank you.
May I just ask if you know much about targett as I do not really know much to be honest?
I also like searching online for forums and sites that has academy reviews such as making people aware of upcoming English talent and wondered if you could let me know which players to look out for over the next few years?
Thanks again.
{Ed001's Note - I am very surprised how few clubs provide decent coverage of their youth teams and academies. Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United normally provide decent enough coverage through their own TV channels, with footage used on the official websites. Most clubs though use a standard website provided for them and they are woeful, they don't provide anything for fans who want to see more of their club's future stars.
From what I have seen of Targett, which is only 5 or 6 games at varying youth levels, he was very similar to Shaw, though seemed a bit less attack minded and more defensive in his outlook. That, I would say, is why so many people are tipping Shaw to move forward onto the wing in the future.
As for upcoming English talent, well there is little under the radar, because there is such a dearth of English talent right now. Other than at Southampton, there is Rossiter at Liverpool, who stands out, despite being so small, as a real talent. I really don't see anyone else that really stands out as an English talent, though there are some who are good, not many really stand out. Will Hughes and Mason Bennett at Derby look good, but both are already under the media spotlight. Targett, Turnbull, Isgrove and Sinclair looks to be amongst the brightest English prospects.}
Isgrove and Targett represent Wales and Scotland respectively.
{Ed001's Note - that kind of proves my point about how little there is in the way of English talent, though both are eligible for England still, which is why I included them.}
Isgrove does play for Wales under 21's Targett has switched from Scotland to England under 19's
Personally I like Harrison Reed. He reminds me of Paul Scholes - and not just because he's ginger! Going back to JWP, he reminded me of Beckham recently due to his delivery of the ball. Also while playing on the right, he's learned that he doesn't have to beat a man to get a decent cross in.
Also at Southampton, Omar Rowe, Jake Sinclair Jake Flannigan, and Corby Moore look like they could make the step up, and some, or all of these kids could well be part of the squad facing Sunderland this week.
Norwich 2013, Chelsea, Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal, City, Liverpool, Liverpool, Ipswich in 2005. They are the fa youth cup winners going back to 2005 when Saints finished runners up to Ipswich!
