So who do you think will be the next youngsters that could step up to our first team? I think Matt Targett (LB) and Callum Chambers (RB/RM) will step up to cover both full back positions respectively, I expect Prowsey to start more games and of course Shaw should always start. I think Jake Sinclair, could step up to our first team too, as he's ameant to become class, also Andy Robinson, Cody Cropper, Loyd Isgrove, Ryan Seager, Omar Row, Dominic Grape, Turnball & Stephens. If we keep all these and send some out on loan for experience we will have a great team in the future of young english players! So hopefully we'll only need to sign 2-3 key players like Pochetino said hopefully a winger, DM and a striker, so Banego, Dalmio and any thoughts on a winger? I have been saying scot sinclair but apparantly he's on a long term injury

Not all of those guys are good enough for the step up. No offence intended but in some cases they may never reach the level we want from them and will therefore be leaving much like Ben Reeves and Sam Hoskins who both will probably go on to become strong players. Reeves in particularly. But I agree some of those guys should be seeing more chances emerge this coming season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Because he wears the dalmio grin

Agree0 Disagree0

All the Swansea fans, granted probably bitter, said Sinclair was never as good as people made him out to be and they don't believe he is good enough to get in their first team, so makes me wonder if he would be good enough for us. Also he moved to City on a high wage, think we could get better. + He had fairly serious surgury over the summer I believe it was for a blood clot, so would be risky for the money involved

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Gape, Ward prowse and Seager are the three most likely for me. Rowe is close also

Agree0 Disagree0

Damiao can play as a winger as well but is most effective up top.

Agree0 Disagree0

Development of the kids to the top level is about mental toughness, rather than just about ability. I do feel however that having Luke Shaw and JWP in the first team, and the recent history of Bale, Walcott, Chaimbo, our kids should have a little bit more belief in themselves than at other clubs. Saints are demonstrating that there's a clear pathway to the first team for talented youngsters.

I did hear recently that Saints U17's are widely regarded as the best crop of youngsters that the club has had for 25 yrs. Exciting times ahead.

Forest fan here.
Could you shed any light on why your manager is willing to let Sharp go? Our fans are very ken for us to sign him up on a regular basis. Do you simply think he is not good enough for the prem?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Good player but not in our plans as we have better strikers

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm gutted he didn't really get a chance but if you do get him you have got one hell of a player :D

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally I'll be gutted to see him go and think he could DEFINITELY do a job in the PL. He just doesn't fit into our style of play now sadly, much like Carroll ince rodgers took over at Liverpool. Definitely prem quality though for me. Hope he does well wherever he ends up!

Agree0 Disagree0

He apparently confirmed he will be let go in a press conference earlier today. Great player who will be fondly remembered at St Mary's

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes never been given the chance with all respect to sharp all the best to him coyr

Agree0 Disagree0

Not many reasons really, he's a great player. I think that the club (mostly NC) weren't too impressed by his insistence on a relegation release clause when he joined us. After buying J Rod we certainly could not guarantee first team football, which he really wants. The goals he will get for the money we are asking? He's a bargain.

Agree0 Disagree0

I personnally think billy sharp should
be given a chance at saints
but don't think pochettino will
a shame really as he does score goals
which saits lacked towards the end of
last season

Agree0 Disagree0

He should be given a chance IMO but he won't as we're in the market for a striker, so I can see him leaving soon, rather he goes to you then reading though!

Agree0 Disagree0

Issues apparently exist between Sharp and the chairman Cortese. Although he would be too far down the pecking order anyway with Lambert, Rodriguez and possibly Mayuka preferred to him plus we're in for a new striker supposedly too.

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't want to worry any of you but the only picture of Ricky at Staplewood was No. 49 with him face down stretching. Loads of other pictures of all of them training, running etc. just wonder whether RL has a fitness problem. Anybody else notice? Or may be he wasn't there and that was an old picture. Maybe paranoid but just seemed odd.

Agree0 Disagree0

I personally don't think he'd be good to step up to the prem, he hasn't got pace or strength whixh you need if you want to be a prem finisher, just lookat rvp and suarez

Agree0 Disagree0

Just never got the chance.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would of liked to seen him get a chance but the fact is we probably are trying to progress too fast for him to be in our squad. Lambert, Jay Rodriguez and Mayuka are ahead of him and I assume we are looking for a big name striker as well as them. Seeing as we play one up front he won't get any game time (even mayuka got f all last season) unless 3 strikers get injured. Really harsh but that is how the premiership seems to be these days

Agree0 Disagree0

I would have liked to see sharp in the prem no idea why he hasn't he is a proven goal scorer through the leagues.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sharp is a great Championship player, never seen him in the Prem so difficult to judge. I think we are just looking for a bit more quality to push us to the next level. He would be a great signing for you.

Agree0 Disagree0

If it was a Saints fans choice I think we would keep him! But nevertheless it seems that the manager is interested in bringing in a future successor to Lambert and Sharp doesn't fit that bill any longer.

saint Q

Agree0 Disagree0

It's a shame he hasn't really been given the chance, but I don't think we'll ever know if he was good enough for the prem. everyone loves him at saints, but I think realistically we can do better for what we want to achieve.

Agree0 Disagree0

Who knows? I'd speculate that he was one of Nigel's choices, brought in to get us through the championship. When this was achieved quicker than expected he was deemed surplus to requirements. Given that we have made our interest in Leandro public, I guess that makes sense. Still, I don't think I'm alone in saying that I would love to see him given a chance in Saints shirt in the Prem. He scored something like 9 goals in 11 starts in the Championship, so got us promotion! Football's ruthless. I hope he goes to Reading (no offence meant) and gets promoted with Nige
MSSaint

Agree0 Disagree0

Good player but not in our plans as we have better strikers

Wish list -

Adur Turan £20m or Wanyama 12m
Damiao £20m

Boring I know, but 3 players in 1 def, 1mid and one forward represents a stead improvement

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Turan or Wanyama? Totally different players aren't they?!

Personally I'd like:

Damiao (£20m)
Wanyama (£12m)
Banega (£10m)
Stoch (£8m?)

Probably a bit too much to ask, but can always dream.

Agree0 Disagree0

How would signing Damiao be boring? He'd be one of the most exciting players to ever play here most likely. Top quality goal scorer and still so young.

Agree0 Disagree0

Where has it been said adur turan is heading to sfc

If there's one man that can get the damiao's signature it N. C. can't wait for the football season to start and to get back in that Northam stand!
