reports from italy suggest ramirez is getting closer.
(translation) The Southampton and Gaston Ramirez were neighbors. Closer and closer. The British company wants to make a major investment. And with Bologna, there is agreement on a valuation of nearly 20 million, including bonuses. Figures important, that can push the closure. The parties are closer, and you can dramatically close to Ramirez in the coming hours. We must define the first official proposal but also with Bologna, waiting for news. The Southampton has offered Ramirez a major contract. And these developments will come hours ...

Believable5 Unbelievable5

I'm sorry I didn't fully understand that... However what I will take from it is that Ramirez is going to Southampton. Which personally I doubt.

Agree3 Disagree5

Copied and pasted through an online translator huh!? Yep, still makes no sense.

Agree3 Disagree2

Wow! Hilarious rumour, on many levels!

Agree3 Disagree6

I wonder if all this ramirez rumours are a spoke screen for phillps deal maybe ?

Agree2 Disagree3

Doesn't sound at all like a smokescreen. Especially seeing as we know about the Phillips deal.

Agree5 Disagree0

Why £20mill ? they accepted £12.6mill 2 weeks ago from spurs- chris

Agree3 Disagree1

Considering spurs had a bid of 16 million Euros (£12.6 million) accepted I doubt Saints would have to pay £20 million!

Even if they did, the wages would be a problem for our wage structure so can't see it happening. If Spurs couldn't accomodate his wages, I doubt we could.

JJ

Agree2 Disagree5

It's definately happening in the very near future. As I understand it Ramirez joining for 15m Euros with possible add ons on £30,000p/w with bonuses. Excpect Phillips to sign soon too.

Saintintheknow

Agree6 Disagree0

And where would Southampton get the money from? Continue like this and you'll end up like your neighbours on the south coast

Agree1 Disagree7

The person above has no clue about southampton, or its finances...

Garfy

Agree7 Disagree1

Multi-billionare owners may have something to do with it. Still seems like wise spending as a good season in the prem could double his value as he's still young.

Agree3 Disagree0

Perhaps the multi-mutli billionaire brother and sister that own the company. They both multi billionaires in the own rights and although it is actually not the club's money they will support Cortese in realising their dead father's dreams for the club (Marcus).

It doesn't take much Google searching to find this - also it's real money as opposed to the made up money that Pimpey had.

Agree1 Disagree0

This was posted on twitter last night by Gianluca Di Marzio, Sky Sports Italian reporter. Thats where I got the information. I then put it through Google translate, not being an Italian speaker myself.

Agree3 Disagree0

Southamptons owners are Billionaires and can spend as much or as little as they like. This COULD happen.
Deal with it all you doubters !

Agree2 Disagree0

Its on ssn bid on 11.6 mill accepted

Agree1 Disagree0

Sky Sports just confirmed that we have agreed a deal for Ramirez and a contract. Could be signing today! In your face all you people who thought this would never happen.

Agree3 Disagree0

On SSN Bologna agree fee believed to be 15m euro, player to fly to Southampton today.

Funky

Agree1 Disagree0

This would be a good signing along with phillips if they were both to happen, but i think everyone is missing the most important thing we still arent any closer to signing a cb? does this not worry anyone else? dont get me wrong i trust NA and NC to do the best for the club and they have done brilliantly so far but a cb is a priority in my opinion

Agree2 Disagree0

All you nay sayers have been silenced Gaston Ramirez welcome to St Mary's ! now time for a CB and a LB come on Nigel !

Agree3 Disagree0

People need to realise the saints are stacking!

Agree0 Disagree0

Looks like this deal is actually happening. Story up on SSN now saying deal has been done for 15 million Euros (£11.8m i think) and personal terms look to have been agreed! amazing signing for saints, now we need to focus on getting a CB or two of the same quality!

Agree1 Disagree0

Entire markets don't know about Southampton. Massive opportunity to earn some cash until its beaten into their heads...

Agree0 Disagree0

It's all been agreed,he's on his way to st Mary's to finalise the deal.source skysports

Agree1 Disagree0

In the echo today!! Ramirez quoted as saying - 'There are only a few details, but they have found the agreement in principle. And the English club has reached an agreement with me.'

Agree1 Disagree0

I think you will find that the 20m refers to Euros!

It never ceases to amaze me how other clubs fans comment about Saints, when they obviously know nothing about the club. There seems to be a cosy Premiership "club" which has long considered they have the resource, support etc to remain where they are and clubs which have been outside the Premiership will not challenge them successfully for this position. You would have thought Swansea and Norwich would have made them sit up, but of course with their management changes they may not continue to challenge as much. Saints on the other hand have all the resources needed AND anticipated stability, so perhaps these supporters should do a little homework!

Saint Martin

Agree4 Disagree0

Ssn bologna have excepted £11.8 for gaston Ramirez from Southampton

Agree1 Disagree0

Bid accepted this morning

Agree1 Disagree0

It's on sly sports he says souhampton and his club (which I can't remember something like alonga) have agreed a price something believed to be around 15 million euros or £11.1 million pounds. The player himself says I'll fly out as soon as possible to finalise a few things but that we offered a deal he couldn't turn down. The club will tell him wether he can move or not today and he believes hell be in a saints shirt next season

Agree1 Disagree1

To the above comment "where does our money come from? "
take it your a jealous portsmouth fan or not a saints fan.. but we have £2.5billion in our bank, thats where the money comes from

Agree1 Disagree0

Bid accepted according to Sky Sports

Agree1 Disagree0

Accepted 11.8 mil from saints this morning, sky sports

Agree1 Disagree0

I love all the smart arses here who slagged off this post - as they seem to slag off so many posts.... The guy was right - apologise.

Smacks of a massive panic buy to me though. Not overly impressed with Ramirez comments that is is about money for him either... Hope he is the real deal.

Now pls lets fix the defence!

Agree2 Disagree2

Ramirez is on his way to saints (skysports are reporting) COYR

Agree1 Disagree0

Agree fully with Garfy.

Who on earth are these people who are laughing off as what can't happen a transfer that looks like it actually has happened??

JJ, what do you know? Nothing by the looks of it. Massive signing Saints! We are going places.

Ramirez has been given an offer he can't refuse... by an Italian! I don't blame him for accepting it :D

Huey

Agree3 Disagree1

Daily Echo reports a deal for Ramirez has been done, 12million signing fee, and 30grand a week on a 4 year deal. All but done

Agree2 Disagree0

We sold AOC for 15m so have plenty of money

Agree2 Disagree0

£11.8m accepted by Bologna just have to agree terms. But I'll believe it when I see it!

Source: sky sports

Agree1 Disagree0

Well Ramirez is joining 4 £11.8million and 30,000 a week/ £2million a year! Great deal expect Phillips and a CB also

To whoever said "Hilarious rumour, on many levels" and "Smoke Screen"- I take a different view. I think this one is going to happen. It seems to fit in terms of the news filtering out and the way Saints do business these days. I agree that the Spurs pay levels will be higher than ours; however, probably Spurs did not value Ramirez at the top end of their pay scale - whilst Saints almost certainly will. That's how we can afford to attract him on a salary that won't break the structure.
Having said all of that, if this deal goes through it is a very clear show of intent that back up our ambitious statements. Happy times!

Tim

Agree4 Disagree0

Southampton is one of the richest clubs around it just tries to stay within it's means. But signing Ramirez is an investment in the clubs future... WORTH IT... Sky Sports News has said Southampton are actually set to sign him today.

Agree1 Disagree0

"And where would Southampton get the money from? Continue like this and you'll end up like your neighbours on the south coast" Have you forgotten we are 1 of the richest clubs in England? Plus we havent spent barley any of out promotion bonus

Agree0 Disagree1

The fee has been accepted and it is in the region of 12 million and ramirez is very interested in joining and spearheading the southampton charge likes the project we have in place great vision by NA and NC

gazza87

Agree1 Disagree0

What do you mean 'we will end up like our neighbours'? did you not know that we are like the 4th richest club in england? clearly not, dont comment saying things like that if you have no idea about our club and finanses

Agree1 Disagree0

Read the sky sports article and all will become clear, supposed to be £12mil and he is on the verge of a medical so expect him to be in squad for sunday. He has spoken of his reasons for joining being a lot more money than he is currently to go towards his family and secure his future. He feels southampton is a good club with a fantastic vision for the future. Long may NA and NC reign over our humble club

Agree1 Disagree0

Bid accepted £11.8 m

Agree0 Disagree0

Looks like the nay sayers ("hilarious rumour" and the like) got it wrong then!

Perhaps a few people will now wake up and realise Saints are not going into the premier league to be cannon fodder.

Agree1 Disagree0

Think cut off for this weekends games was 12 noon today, according to skys reports with the RvP saga, so any arrivals will wait till next weekend. {Ed001's Note - no, a player needs to be registered an hour before the game in question, but a player can only be registered in office hours.}

Would love it if we got Phillips and Tom ince for £6m + Puncheon!!
Think that's pretty fair on both clubs. But obviously Blackpool won't part with 2 wingers.

Mini-Saint

Believable5 Unbelievable7

Na ince is good but needs some more playig time under his belt, also apperently on twitter the 6mil bid for phillps has been accepted not sure how reliable the source. Is though

Summers

Agree3 Disagree2

How is that fair?!

Phillips = £5-6 million
Ince = £3-4million
So absolute MINIMUM £8million combined. More realistic to say the are worth £9-10million.

Puncheon is worth 750k - £1million max. so we would be paying £7million for the both of them... which is £3.5million each...

Not to mention, Blackpool won't lose both strikers. And we wouldn't want to buy two similar players who are both that young. Maybe one but not two.

JJ

Agree6 Disagree5

*wingers

JJ {Ed003's Note - Just a note, as it stands at the moment no bid has been accepted}

Agree2 Disagree1

Phillips is worth about £4m in my opinion and an inexperienced 19 year old Tom once maybe £2m- £3m at most.

Mini-saint {Ed003's Note - he isn't 19}

Agree2 Disagree1

They aren't strikers, they're both wingers. Get your facts straight. {Ed003's Note - they both interchange in B'pools style,so they can be/are strikers/wingers}

Agree0 Disagree2

We need a proven winger !!!!

gazza87

Agree1 Disagree3

Dont want to lose Puncheon he has been playing quality pre-season & is building a great partnership with Clyne on the right.
SaintJimbo COYR

Agree6 Disagree2

Real truth is if they were that good bigger teams than us would have already bought them {Ed003's Note - Maybe they still might,he has been scouted by every prem team for the last 12 months and others far from farther afield}

Agree1 Disagree0

If a team pays for either ince or Phillips they would play them in there position and if they do interchange they are wing forwards not strikers no matter how the playing style is {Ed003's Note - I am explaining what positions they play so saints fans can understand they can play as wingers or as strikers,or if you want the old fashioned inside right or left,why are you having a dig,do you not want to know more??? weird! oh he was also excellent away at Anfield playing wing back but that might just confuse things for you.}

Agree0 Disagree0

They dont really play as wingers we will get phillips not ince and gatson is still a possibility so that is all good !

RedRyan

Agree1 Disagree1

I wasnt having a dig sorry for coming across like that i was just saying i thought with the stylie of play on formation they were classed
as wing forwards but i do agree a player can play other positions and well.
bit like Ashley young for England i perfer him on wing than up front {Ed003's Note - No worries, remember just like J Rod he isn't the finished article but if you get him for say £6m(personally I think it will be a tad more because of Wycombes %) you have got a player who could be worth a hell of a lot more in a year or so,he makes things happen and is a great pro(training, community work..etc).

Agree2 Disagree0

Do agree phillips will be a good adittion to ours or most squads i do like ince as a player
aswell {Ed003's Note - Ince could do with another years experience at championship level,decision making etc which all comes with having games under your belt,but another who will defo play in the prem}

Agree1 Disagree0

I think now wolves have rejected a third bid for Jarvis we may as well forget that one. phillips would be agreat buy, fits the profile, young and hungry. what worries me is the amount of goals we are likely to ship this season, two center backs and a left back needed at least.not overly impressed by the names weve been linked to. kyle bartly could have been a decent signing, now having a medical at swansea. But in NA and NC we trust so keep the faith, any more defender rumours knocking about?

Agree1 Disagree0

Still think Douglas Teixiera (spelling?) would be good. Brazilian born but now Dutch citizen, 6' 4". Commanding presence.
Rumoured we are in discussions-perhaps Jos could assist?

Saint Martin

Agree2 Disagree1

For age and future prospect i would like phillips over jarvis but we must be honest and say a good player is better than no player

Agree1 Disagree0

I didn't know jos was Dutch?

Agree0 Disagree1

Heard from a Blackpool fan who watched them regularly that Ince is too weak and inconsistant. When he is good he is great but 8/10 times defenders can work him out. Phillips however is a different story

Agree0 Disagree0

Saints have put in a bid of 6mil for Matty Phillips

Believable8 Unbelievable4

Correct

Agree3 Disagree4

I have heard that it's been accepted aswell!

Lenny

Agree4 Disagree4

He's not the winger we want, but he's the winger we deserve.

Agree5 Disagree4

Wouldn't go as far as its the winger we deserve ? Ralther have Jarvis all day

Agree1 Disagree5

Phillips any day over jarvis hes got pace power and an end product
RedRyan

Agree4 Disagree1

Are you insane, jarvis is good but only mid table at best while philips is much younger and has the ability to be a top payer, in 3 years or so half our team will be internationals and in the england team.

Agree5 Disagree2

Scotland

Agree4 Disagree0

I'd like to see us get Phillips. He's a good player. But surely the top priority is a Centre back? Right?

Agree2 Disagree0

Im sorry but in pre season puncheon has looked very gd also i would not like ince aswell only phillips keep puncheon
