On saints web forum it saints we have bid 5 mil plus punch for phillips
Believable1
Unbelievable9
We won't be offering 'plus punch' for anyone. He's been quality so far this season. I'd accept 'plus de ridder' or 'plus seaborne' if for a defender but still.
Agree5

With punch getting so much pre season and starting against Man city I doubt hell be going anywhere
Agree5

His played on game and de ridder hasnte been given a chance

But he's still the weakest link in attack. Get rid.

So what's the situation withe the Ramirez deal?

Looks likely as Bologna are in need and the offer is pretty much good enough.

Mate - i think we should all back off a bit. I mean - i love finding out rumours and hope we do sign him, (but feck it if we don't) but listening to NA on Player tonight - I think we are in for an exciting Week :) At a guess a reckon 4 Players - COYR :)
Agree3
Disagree3
Bologna will/ have to accept our offer in the next couple of days, they need the money. Once that's happened deal will be completed pretty quickly. We want player, bologna want money, player and agent want to join us! Only 1 winner! :)
Agree3
Disagree3
To be honest who actually knows if he doesn't sign soon I'd say we've,pulled out or something like that
Agree2
Disagree0
I agree we back off a bit, its like the only rumour going round atm, inter Milan want him and are offering the same deal we are but over a shorter period of time, so I expect he will go there. Not here.

Inter just took Gargano from Napoli on loan with a deal to buy him next season. They don't have the funds that they used to have. Italian football is dying. They wont be able to do a better deal with Bologna than we already have.

Heard that Southampton have made bids for both Matt Phillips and Tom Ince. The bids are supposedly separate but if both players become saints Ince would be loaned back to Blackpool for the season.

Can believe this but can also believe that we will nickle and dime with them over half and mil and the deal will collapse... NC has been great in structure but we have to remember that Phillips would of already been our player for 2.5m if he just did the deal last season
Agree7
Disagree2
Brilliant point about £2.5m could have been done for Phillips last season, but we messed about... Therefore, if we have done our homework properly on Ramirez, which we bloody well should have done, then, at only 21 years of age now, how much will he be worth when he hits his peak in four of five years time, by which time there will surely be yet another, even bigger, monster new Sky Premiership contract and player values will have also gone up yet again... Really excellent point mate! ;) NC, INVEST IN THE BEST!!
Agree6
Disagree3
NC has been great. How do you know if we bid and at what price last season. As NA said today 'He said, she said, they said - stuff like that'.
Agree3
Disagree0
My god this rumour stuff is tiring its simple though if we dont get players in we may struggle I think we have a competitive 13 players but its a squad game now and our squad is not big nor competitive enough if we get injuries or lose players.
Agree2
Disagree0
Thanks mate... i think you also have a major point in the sky deals... apparently next year is a 70% bump for teams that stay in the league.. so if we ever wanna not get relegated its this season!!
Agree2
Disagree0
Why are you whinging we didn't sign Phillips last season?? We signed other players and were promoted to the Premiership-so, simples, NC got it right!
Leave the man to do his job. This is not fantasy football, it is the real thing and involves NC investing millions of £s on behalf of his employers. It is vital he gets it right and sets a standard that other clubs start to recognise Saints are not an easy touch.
NC will be a breath of fresh air in the Premiership. Get behind him!
Saint Martin
Agree7

I am behind him, as i said he has been superb in structuring the club. It's just that in hind sight if we snapped him up last season it would of been a very shrewd bit of business and who knows that could of been the bit of difference that won us our first championship!
Agree3
Disagree0
Why not add Cathcart as well!
Agree1
Disagree0
Well said Martin. As far as I can tell NC hasn't put a foot wrong. But what he has done is put us back in the Prem. 3 years ago I thought we were about to be AFC Southampton...Where do you think we'll be in 3 years time?
Agree2
Disagree0
And if we had signed Messi we might have won the Championship too!
We signed Jos, Lee and Sharp and they were all key to us getting promotion. The fact we were promoted shows we did not need Phillips then. We could have signed all sorts of players who were cheaper last year than this, but I suspect that arguement would not have been sensible to NCs employers.
Yes, the Premiership requires a stronger squad but you can not argue we should have started recruiting them in 2011-"just in case."
Last Sunday shows we are not a long way away from where we need to be, and now NC has to be pretty selective to make certain that the last pieces of the jigsaw are just right. Phillips is a good prospect, but will he not compete with Ramirez for a place, as well as Puncheon/Guly etc.etc.? So, I don't think we have any need to be too worried and after a few more days I am confident we will have a squad that will push well into the top half of the Premiership.

So we still getting ramirez or not anymore cause theres alot sayin both?

Highly doubt Blackpool would of sold him for 2.5 mill last season

It was when he at wycombe we wanted him for 2.5m but went to blackpool instead

And let that be a lession to all players that decide to go anywhere but Saints.. perhaps he like donkeys and rock! His loss

Ok and update, the ramirez transfer is not off, but saints have said they will retract there offer if a deal cannot be reached by then end of today. Bologna need the money, ramirez wants to leave... anything could happen, just gonna have to sit tight on this one.
Secondly we are after olsson of blackburn supposedly to fill in at LB or cover for LW, this is the aternative purchase to buttner who joined united earlier this week. We face competition from suderland but if we bid i expect us to win this one as sunderland have wasted 12/15 mil on fletcher.
Fingers Crossed for some positive news soon.

Ok, I believe the Ramirez stuff they should stop messing it about and just sort it really... As for Olsson I really doubt he's moving clubs at this point.
Agree5

I just think that making comments one way or the other about Ramirez , NC , Bologna etc. is frustration. I hope he comes to Saints , be nice to have the flair in the side and maybe take a bit of the workload off Adam Lallana. I have seen Ramirez play he is quality and remember he is 21 !! Just wish NA had a bit more to say if only to say nothing if you know what I mean. If the deal comes off I think we have got a proper player at a sensible price. Our power is that we have financial back up which is the future for SFC. Must beat Wigan to shut a few doubters up.
Agree9

Olsson has been linked a few times.
Hope you're right about Ramirez but I read Inter are back in for him. Can't see this one happening to be honest.
Agree2

This is true its in the sun! (although its the sun soooo uno anything could happen) but none the less what you have stated isn't made up...by you, so we have to play the waiting game. But the waiting game isn't a great idea with only a week left

Ramirez deal off gutted
Agree2
Disagree5
It's not off. It can still happen unless he moves elsewhere or the market closes.
Agree4
Disagree1
It would seem that NC is not the negotiator we believe him to be and that the money we believed to be available is not ! The transfer of someone as potentialy game changing as Ramirez should not be ruined by penny pinching, dont expect any big transfers as we seem very awkward to deal with so lets all hope the squad we have is good enough, let us pray !
Agree1

Tere is a phenomena known as winners curse. It happens to those who win the auction but through the thrill and excitement pay too much. We should be thankful we have a chairman thinking intelligently. Yes, Ramirez looks great, but he is not great value at any price.

To the guy above its not saints causing the problems it's that bologna can't get a loan to pay Ramirez previous club

Southampton are now trying there luck with inter milan midfielder Philippe Coutinho, will more than likely be a season long loan.
He has just returned to milan afer a 6 month loan deal with espanyol ended.
espanyol also want him back for a year long loan

I'm not sure we'd take him. I mean not in a needed position and not quite right for us.

Can't see the point of that. Fantastic and very young player but by the time he settled in at Saints it would be time to go back to Inter

I just can't believe that people can post things on here that have no credulity to them. I know we all want it to happen but we can only hope it does not just text what you hope. No offence meant but it's all getting a bit boring, so much it is making any proper decent rumour unbelievable.
