Difficult to get anything on saints transfers as you all know, however
the only info i can get on Chaplow is that 3 clubs have made enquires (all from the championship) one being Burnley?
not sure about the Yak - however NA was at St Marys today
can't get anything new on the keeper front -
my moneys on Ben Foster
i know we have made some serious enquires regarding Mutch from BCFC - watchout for an offer going in as the owner has again had his cash frozen and BCFC may need to sale, but i think he will cost around 8m, Punch going to Blackpool? may see him part of this deal
also heard Pederson from Blackburn

Burnley accept a £7m bid from Southampton for striker Jay Rodriguez, according to BBC Radio Lancashire. Rodriguez, 22, scored 21 goals for the Clarets last season and was named in the Championship team of the year by the Professional Footballers' Association last month.

Just watched a 2 min vid of him on youtube smashin goals in left right and centre he looks pure genius no wonder burnley fans are gutted!

He does look good but I'd still prefer hooper, he is a poacher and I think will work better with lambert
Agree5
Disagree6
Stuff hooper jay rod will be better than him in future and is already a decent player
Agree7

Stuff Hooper...do I detect a bit of bitterness towards a player that would undoubtedly improve your team in the Premiership but has chosen to stay with a massive team (in a s**te league, yes even Celtic fans agree it is) that is without a doubt bigger than Southampton in every way no matter what division you are in.
Hooper will eventually leave for the Premiership, but it will be for a bigger club than Southampton.

Disagree9
^no mate, it's nothing to do with bitterness. If we really wanted Hooper we could have him. We just decided money would be better spent on a young, enthusiastic 22 year old, rather than a money grabbing player who doesn't seem that ambitious.
Yes hooper would have been a decent signing for us, but the management decided signing Jay rod would be better for the values being discussed. All this means is that to us jay rod is more valuable and a better asset. You can keep hooper if you value him that highly because no one else values him at that!
Agree9
Disagree1
I just watched a jay rod video on youtube. missed a penalty and nearly hit the corner flag.. check it out.. is he really worth 7 mill ? doubt it {Ed022's Note - You're really judging a player on a penalty kick? I worry about you mate.}
Agree2
Disagree3
Bitterness towards not getting hooper, haha dont make me laugh I would rather have jay rod than hooper, one jay rod has scored 20 odd goals with a mid table championship team and injuryed for a bit, where hooper has scored a lot but the SPL is league 1 standard and most decent strikers would score the same as he did
Agree1
Disagree1
You can keep hooper, in a couple of years he will be rotting in SPL while Jay Rod is getting double figures in the prem

Why would Saints not sign Hooper? Just because a deal seems to have been done with Burnley, it does not mean Hooper is out of Adkins plans.
His agent has been promoting him around the EPL recently, so if he does not end up at Saints he is still likely to move. Can't see that "he has chosen to stay at Celtic" is a true reflection of the current situation.
Agree2
Disagree2
Uh, to the above, Hooper also scored 20 goals in the Championship with a mediocre Scunthorpe side.
thing is though, it's clear that J-Rod is the target, not Hooper. We wouldn't need both, because we'd have: Lambert, Lee, Sharp, J-Rod. All quality strikers.
Agree1
Disagree0
The thing with Hooper is that its hard to qualify how good he is while playing for Celtic against an extream mix of oposition in terms of quality. As so many Celtic fans have said they are a massive club in a tin-pot league.
Jay Rod is less risk because of his recent form and age if nothinmg else if he bombs out we would still get a few million for him in the Championship. If Hooper bombs out he would still be a risk for a championship club
Agree1
Disagree0
Hooper and Jay Rod are completely different types of forward.
Just because Saints are trying to complete one signing it does not mean they will not go for the other.
Whilst that could give them a surplus of forwards it may be that Saints see Lee as an impact player coming off the wings.

Burnley have accepted a £7million bid for Jay Rodriguez from Southampton at 13.00 on 29th May, details revealed by BBC Radio Lancashire.
Will take until next week to finalise the deal with fitness tests and personal contract deal.

Wont be till at least next week as hes on holiday, also a host of Premier League clubs, including Aston Villa, Everton, Wigan and Norwich, are still hopeful of signing the forward, who has also been the subject of a bid from Cardiff.
now they know 7mill is the accepted offer, we might have competition to sign him as a club can accept offers from more than one club. it be down to jay rod
Agree1
Disagree5
Not sure if many clubs will match 7 million. Can't see everton, wigan or norwich spending that much on him. Norwich and wigan will try and keep similar teams and add solid players where needed (not spend £7 million on one young player) and can't see everton spending that much on one player, I think Jelavic was on the expensive side for them, can't see them spending another £7million without selling.

I would jizz my pants if we signed hangeland but considering he has been turning down arsenal for years now i dont see it unfortunately
Agree12

Cuellar is a possibility although I wouldn't really want him. Woudl take him to fill the squad up but wouldn't want him as a first choice CB.
No chance with Hangeland. Only 30 and consistently Fulham's best defender and interest from other big clubs long term hasn't encouraged him to move.
However, QPR signed Zamora from Fulham after he was there best player for a while, so MAYBE fulham are interested in selling off there older players and getting decent return for them once they hit the 30 year old mark and re-invest the profit to younger players? Still unlikely but worth bearing in mind..

Total agree, hangeland is a great player,if we get so much as a sniff at at deal we should bite thier hands off.
