Transfer update.
Ox has now agreed a deal elsewhere.
Ramsdale is weighing up options. Wolves most likely due to manager links. Saints offering an attractive loan deal but waiting till deadline day to make their move. Szczęsny has also been discussed as a 1 season interim.
JWP is interesting. Not on our current list, but watch this space. If a deal can be struck we will go for it. Loan option most likely on deadline day. Bournemouth have also registered an interest.
Saints also in for another promising young winger Fernandez-Pardo. Lots of noise but no official offer as of yet.

Szczesny is a fabulous goalkeeper and out of contract. Arsenal must have another keeper lined up if they are going to let Ramsdale leave, doesn’t add up otherwise. Fernandes signing smacks of Sports Republic decision not the manager or scouting team, our profile of signings in the last 12 months clearly reflects my summation. Fernandes is the first player we’ve signed since RM was manager that has no football experience in the UK with the exception of Sugawara, Japanese players have a professional mindset and are not mercenaries. If Wolves do sign Ramsdale then Sa is a very good keeper to consider, he won’t want to be No2 at Wolves. Archer was bought as cover for Armstrong and will score goals given time, Hope Stewart is fit soon. ?

There is no intel re signing another striker. I think a lot will depend on whether Onaucha stays and Stewart is genuinely close to full fitness. Keeper appears to be main focal point atm.

Lavia loan is a not going to happen now. Chelsea plan to use him in rotation this season.
Talks held with Ox. Wages significantly less than current deal. Sheffield Utd also offering something similar but can guarantee more game time.
Also hearing JWP link (he is keen!) but not part of KWP.

Moder is a very good player but also very defence minded midfielder . Last year of his contract so fee makes sense. AOC, hope not, think he’s a spent force and no longer good enough for premier league. They are still working on loans but all clubs are being cagey. ABK is a problem, no one wants to pay 8 figures for him and no one has offered a decent loan fee. Same with Onaucha and KWP. Lavia loan might have to be shelved in lieu of a centre forward and Goalkeeper on loan.

Inflated prices are proving to be a problem for the board. Celtic want 30M plus add ons for O'Riley despite the player reportedly open to linking up with Martin. Unfortunately Chelsea have now increased the stakes so it looks increasingly unlikely for us.
Although the consequence of this is that Lavia is likely to become available for a season long loan and Saints are in pole position having already lodged their interest.
Ramsdale is most likely a deadline day deal but remains uncertain due to wage demands and Newcastle interest.

Transfer update:
Justin Bijlow - done deal
Lumley set for a possible loan/buy departure.
It also now looks very likely we will also sign Ramsdale on loan.
David Brooks (Ramsdale's best mate) could also be on his way to St Mary's. Bournemouth are currently considering sanctioning a loan to buy option if they are able to bring in a replacement. It seems Martin is pushing hard for this one to happen!

Premier league clubs are only allowed 2 loan players and they cannot be from the same team. Brooks is still recovering from the play off final injury, poor lad never gets any luck especially after his battle with cancer. Martin said he was a pleasure to work with and would happily have him in the squad. I don’t think he is fit and strong enough for regular premier league fixtures but he does have the footballing brain for it. Martin prattled on about quality up top! Haaland and Lewandowski wouldn’t have scored for us yesterday, for 2 reasons, you need a central striker not 2 players hugging the bye line and you need to create chances for the strikers to score! Come on Russell, stop being so bloody arrogant, adjust the game plan and factor in some shots on goal and fast breakaways! PLEASE before it’s too late.

We are a delight to play against - so utterly predictable. I can’t see us scoring never mind getting a point or three. When will RM learn that if you don’t change things, things don’t change.
The stark reality is the quality in the team
Isn’t good enough - we can’t keep clean sheets and we can’t score goals. We find it hard to even get possession in the opposition box - the stats don’t lie.
It’s all a bit of a circus really - all we needed was Ramsdale and O’Riley - and a left back. We could have made good from there. Instead the board behaved like kids in a pix and mix stall - anyone will do.
Brace yourself guys because it may be a long time before we get the first win - a very long time in fact.

After yesterday’s performance I too have grave doubts where 3 points are coming from. I think we could just about stay up with our squad plus a very competent keeper and a fit Stewart or a new proper centre forward. Personally, I would persevere with Archer Brereton Edozie Sulemana Amo, AA will never be premier league quality and should be allowed to leave this transfer window.

Kept quiet until now . after criticising RM so heavily last season, I though I’d see if he had learnt anything .
I honestly thought he’d adjust his possession obsession football. Not only has he stuck to it, he also appears to not understand the fundamentals of how to win a game!
His stubbornness last season was found out by the best teams but luckily for us, there were very few quality teams in that league.
I can honestly see us struggling to win a game.
Not only don’t we have the quality forward line, but the structure of the team, the tactics of the team . will not win games .
but we will have lots of possession! Deja vu
