So I know someone who works at the club, now idk if he is credible or a reliable source of informations but he told me from what he has heard around the club we will make one more signing and it will be a wel known player idk if it's true just that, that is what is being passed around.

So it's a rumour only at this stage? Given that this is a rumour site, we are pleased to read this. Just know however, if we do NOT sign a well known player this window, that you and your contact at the club will be banished to the pit of eternal nonsense and will not ever be believed again. This will render you unable to meet girls or get jobs. Further more you will need to notify your car and home insurance providers that you do give false information on any claims. God speed to you and your kin. We wish you well.

2.) 12 Aug 2016 14:50:06
I'll take the hit lmao but rumours are surfacing on Twitter ATM who knows.

3.) 14 Aug 2016 16:28:03
Ah you can't blame the guy for going if he does. Let's face it, he deserves to sign for a big club and have a crack at the premier league title. He is absulutely class enough to play along side Pogba, Rooney and ibra. He will leave (if he does) with a heavy heart and a good deal of good wishes from all saints fans. The issue here is of course the standard saints problem in that what is actually concerning to us fans is will the club actually REPLACE him . And I mean properly replace him. His replacement needs to be a player of equal quality and heart. They need to be a great, not good but GREAT centre back. As long as the club match this requirement I would expect no one to suggest to captain amazing that he shouldn't go. It's much like Ricky Lambert leaving for a crack at Liverpool. Fonte deserves it, he stuck with us through thin and thin. Bought us up through the leagues and kept us fighting for more and more in the premiership. Good luck Fonte. Always a saint.

4.) 14 Aug 2016 23:14:56
Until very recently I thought the same as you James. Then a mate of my partner told him about Fonte changing agents at the beginning of this month. Guess what it's Jorge Mendes who by coincidence is the same agent of Jose Mourinho's. The picture is getting clearer by the day if he goes. He wasn't the only player that got us through the leagues. It was a great team effort .

When we got him from Crystal Palace our coaching staff made him a better player all round. Again if he deserts us I certainly wouldn't quote him as "always a ain't" just another player chasing big bucks. Mind you I would probably do the same. The big difference is I wouldn't post messages on sites that " we march on" I just hope that this doesn't happen. But onwards and upwards I say.

5.) 15 Aug 2016 12:55:35
To a point you're right welshgirl. But, think of it from the players point of view. If he stays at saints, he has 2 years left MAX. On the wages he is currently on, that's good BUT. He could be offered significantly more at UTd for a start. Also he gets a shot at a big club. Now I'm loathed to admit that UTd are a wild class club but let's face it, they are. When he retires 2 or 3 years from now, he will have a testimonial st saints and perhaps be offered a coaching role on aroun 1500 per week. If he goes to UTD, he could lift the premier league trophy, earn significantly more and also be able to say for the rest of his life, I played for a top top world class club and won the euros. He does deserve that. I can understand it. Thing is, unfortunately, the days of players like Le Tiss are long gone. Look at Henry, Gerrard, Lampard, even Becks all went on to earn bucket loads of money despite saying and actually being in love with their main club.

{Ed001's Note - he also gets a signing on fee which would set up his family for life, which he wouldn't get by staying put.}

6.) 15 Aug 2016 15:37:55
He could if he pushed for another new contract couldn't he?

{Ed001's Note - but moving on also gives him 5% of the transfer fee.}

7.) 15 Aug 2016 16:19:46
And it will be significantly more than we will offer given the obvious size of UTDs coffers. Plus all the bonuses for league position and cup winning bonuses. Tough one for the lad. He probably would go given a chance. Can't really blame him. Cheers ed.

8.) 16 Aug 2016 08:07:15
I agree with everything that's been said by James, the eds, and anyone that posts about 2 yrs left on fontes contract. What pisses me off is Fonte posting "We march on" etc., Not so long ago going round the squad after signing a new contact trying to persuade them to stay with the club etc. To be honest I truly thought that he would be another Le Tissier.

Hi Ed, got some questions for you bud.

I heard some rumours about players wanted to hear if you knew anything
Austin, Gradel, Ogbonna, Van Dijk, Clasie. supposedly interested in them and have been in contact idk if it's true just wondered if you knew anything. or if we are interested in any players I haven't put.

Thanks

Weever

{Ed001's Note - as far as I can find out you have shown no interest in Austin or Van Dijk so far this summer. Gradel and Clasie there is interest in, but nothing has been done yet. You were outbid on Ogbonna by someone, West Ham I think off the top of my head.}

1.) 08 Jul 2015 18:05:47
Cheers ed I'm not worried about the summer but it's getting stupid now that we are messing about and missing out on top quality players that we will need. I'm questioning saints willingness to buy at the moment I know we will buy but just at the moment I'm not seeing intent from us. What do you make of it?

{Ed001's Note - the club are just trying to stay on track financially and not get drawn into bidding wars. If they overpay on one, then that cuts the budget on others. It is a difficult juggling act to be fair. I think the quality of academy products allows the club to hold off unless they get the right deal, as they know they can rely on a youngster to fill the squad out if they can't bring in players they want.}

2.) 09 Jul 2015 23:57:25
We outbid west ham.

3.) 10 Jul 2015 16:57:23
We outbid west ham after player had accepted, seems like there was no/is no contingency plan after Toby

This isn't so much a rumour, but i'm at work thinking about clubs being brought and sold and was thinking what players we could get being owned by a rich owner like man city have, now I know we won't be sold but I was wondering what you guys thought! I mean we are a very attractive option in the premier league.

The training ground, the ground, the youth academy, the players in the first team 11. we know KL will sell eventually. its just I hope its to some rich owner that could get us champions league not impossible but at the moment just a dream

1.) 02 Oct 2015 21:22:32
Not many I expect. grounds not big enough , supports not big enough to warrant a bigger ground so not only do I think it wouldn't happen for that reason even I doubt the players would come . We'd probably end up like qpr paying ridiculous salaries to end of careers like Chris samba 😱 . I enjoy the path we are on and no matter the future holds am hugely greatful to kl for not jacking it in and continuing her father's work

2.) 03 Oct 2015 08:07:17
Is Miss Leibhur Not rich enough for you Then with her 3 billion quid?
Anyway it does not matter how rich your owner is with the FFP rules that Platini bought in. That only helps the bigger clubs because it's all about the revenue that your club can acquire as that determines how much you are allowed to spend.

rumours are still going around yeah, but nothing will happen until we fill the stadium we are in now for a whole season like Ralph said. plus I know the club have plans for a stadium like that. seeing as other clubs are moving to modern stadiums, the club will want to expand and have more fans in the stadium. problem being even though we could fill it because we do have over 50000 fans would it be full every week? I think they plan on expanding the brand first. Then maybe 3-4 years or before depending they will either expand current stadium or if they get the right land they will build a new stadium.

Every parish around Southampton is having to make plans for extra housing. My "local" is Swanmore and another 300 here-70+ in build at the moment. Same sort of numbers all around and many more on the edges of the more urban areas.

The club will have a business plan which factors in this sort of population growth because as well as schools etc. many will want a top football club to support. The "product" will need to be attractive to make sure it is Saints that will attract them. The club will have full details of expected population growth and will organise stadium capacity accordingly. It is no accident that our owners decided to invest in Saints.
The other critical factor is the access to St. Marys and that has been a growing problem. Southampton Council will need to seriously consider redeveloping much of the surrounding area to enable 40-50k supporters to get in and out quickly and comfortably.

Reading through the posts on here and I was just wondering what is wrong with some fans? like saying we are getting downgrades and that cedric soarez won't be a good player. and Martin St is a has been, really guys?. personally we have a whole transfer windows left it's literally just opened stop moaning and start watching. because I bet you the players we bring in will not only surprise you but might shut you up moaning about players leaving. We will get good players you watch

1.) 02 Jul 2015 23:13:21
Well said mate, and with a bit of research they would see how good he players we signed are!. incredible for the price.

2.) 03 Jul 2015 17:15:31
Cedric could step up and be class but why did they sell him so cheap if he is that good?

3.) 03 Jul 2015 18:19:25
^release clause he's had in his contract for years

So to create a happier post not about Clyne or Morgan leaving! what do people believe we have in the bank already? even before morgan and Clyne leave?

I think we have in the region for 30 take away 8.5 we spent already leaving us with 21.5 mil and add the 37.5 we will get for morgan and Clyne gives us 59 mil to spend I'd like to see

Imbula for 2 million loan plus €18 euros at end of it.
clasie for 10 mil
Toby for 15 mil
another rb
Elia for 2-3 my
praet for 10 mil
again I'm not sure on that but seem possible doesn't it?

Weever

1.) 28 Jun 2015 19:03:18
Of the above, I'm pretty sure that we will
Not get Toby and the Imbula deal seems exactly that of Toby last year. Therefore if he has a good season he will go elsewhere for better pay!

I can't see us buying 4 MF s when IMO 2 CBs are required

2.) 28 Jun 2015 21:11:36
I'm pretty confident Saints won't spend £60m this summer.

They'll use the Schneiderlin and Clyne money to get a midfielder and a centre back and that'll probably be it. Any further additions will be loans.

3.) 28 Jun 2015 21:36:33
Transfers aren't exactly like that, even if the club had the supposed "59 mil" you've said then it woils nkt bw possinlw to spend £57/58,000,000 on those players. Wages, agent fees, contract admissions and other payments are all very prominent in transfers and increase the total cost. Just think about last season when it was reported that the club had made nearly £100,000,000 in transfer fees yet only half of that on new players. Yes, it would be ideal if transfers were that easy but in more realistic terms the club will spend less.

4.) 28 Jun 2015 22:56:03
I think that's about spot on Qwertywell, albeit I think we might sign a Cork replacement, but I suppose that could end up being a loan too. Hopefully they can those two transfer done by the end of next week either way, cause if it's not Toby coming in we need to integrate the new centre back quick, same goes for Morgan's replacement!

5.) 29 Jun 2015 03:57:09
I don't think a Cork replacement should be prioritized atm. Both JWP and Davis can play CMF and Reed will also see more first team action than last season. Add to that Big Vic and Spider's replacement, and there's the depth.
Dom Gape is touted to be a talent in the past but haven't heard much of him since?

6.) 29 Jun 2015 10:05:10
Clyne just the latest MONEY GRABBERto go to liverhampton
to join the others from last year no ambition enjoy the splinters on your a##

Good to know you guys are so optimistic about this season?. why does everyone suddenly think we can't be challenging for 5th to 8th again? We were relegation candidates last year. personally I was optimistic then about a higher finish and I'm confident now we will finish in the top 8.

So I'm 50/50 on this, I do not believe Liverpool are a step up these days. yes I respect their past achievements and history of the club. not that I like the fans. I don't see Liverpool as a step because they keep getting it so wrong, they think by buying other players from other clubs who finish bellow them will push them on to a top 4 positions. and spending the money they have on these players,they should be top 4! but saints on the other hand realise that to be a top 4 club you need money which we do have but not of the sort that your United or Chelsea's have. So we have to sell 1 or 2 players for big money. now if Clyne had 2-3 more years on his contract he'd be in the range of 20 million + so Liverpool are on to a bargain price but we are selling Morgan as hopefully for 25 million or 20 million plus add ons. that will probably give 30 million plus depending on whether KL gives us all the money to spend again like last year we could have about 35-40 million (12.5 for Clyne, 25 for morgan) but I'm sure we probably already had between 20-30 million in the transfer kitty anyway. so it gives us 60 million to play with have already spent 8.5 million we could be left with sort 51.5 million so I don't think we will sign to or three more players and if we do it will be players like, Toby, Imbula, clasie, another rb. people need to realise that we do have money to spend and selling only adds to that. so I for one am not worried about saints but I am worried about Liverpool the only notable signing for me firmino. The rest are just downgrades. maybe not milner but the others aren't really a step in the right direction and what is there to be of lallana now? firmino is a better player. hmm what a waste of 25 mill
