Anyone think that Jack Stephens is worth a go this season especially with the injury to Gardos? Has proved himself in the England U21s and it's time for him to step up. Initially in cup games and to then become an eventual replacement for Fonte once he retires (probably when he is 40 something) . Thoughts?

I personally think the younger group as in McCarthy and this alfie jones are better prospects from what I've seen.

I quite like Jack Stephens, also think he'd be worth a punt, Jones and McCarthy probably need more game time in loan deals before the first team, although I was very impressed with Jones during his brief appearance against Espanyol.

Saw Jack Stephens at Swindon quite a bit - don't think he's ready, better off at a Championship club on loan than stepping up to our first team.
