Watching saints is like watching England devoid of ideas, slow, boring, predictable. I'm starting to think that we should of gone all out for Silva or stuck with Puel.

As far as I know we actually turned down the opportunity to have silva come in. he was offered to several clubs at the end of last season.

I think the club acted too slowly in regards to Puel, and In doing so missed out on first noice options. However I fully support Pellegrino, he is a good manager who needs time to work out his best team and formation. but it would be nice to see the start of some sort of identity or style. At the moment there is a real lack of cohesion and understanding of any game plan from the players.

First time post

I have been an avid reader of this site for a while and a saints fan since 1974.

I have decided to write a post as I have become disillusioned with football over the past few years. In my opinion and its just my opinion I believe that the world of football has become immoral. In the past 6-7 years this country has been under severe constraints of austerity measures where the normal working masses have seen prices go up and wages come down but in football ridiculous amounts are spent on and paid to players. Who then sulk, refuse to play (but will still be expected to get paid) if they don't get what they want and not just talking about VVD.

I understand the market dictates the prices and the stupid amount of TV revenues that premier clubs earn means that even average players command a transfer price of 8 -15 million how can that be right?

The premier league is doomed to become a bigger version of the Scottish premier. Where the top six so called big clubs will dominate the league because that's what the media wants as that is where they make their money. Watch SKY and BT introduce pay per view to watch these clubs play against each other and the trouble is people will pay it.

I know that football is an entertainment business (I will ignore most of last years Saints season) and the pleasure it gives the millions of people around the globe along with other sporting events but the only way of changing things and bringing football back into the real world and to the working class sport it's meant to be, creating real competition amongst all clubs is to stop paying SKY and BT etc. and boycott their stations.

I know that I am living in a dream world but I am tired of the corporate greed and when I see my son and his mates who are in their twenties turn away from football it makes me despair.

Sorry for making my first post long and miserable. I promise to be more positive in future posts :)

Too true mate. I have been a Saints fan since the 1950s and can honestly say that I too am very disillusioned with the PL.

Quite average footballers getting paid more per week than our youngsters earn in a year. No wonder counterfeiters deserting the game in droves and we are recruiting nobodies .

SFC I am afraid are no better. Its not a game for the British, Its a game of corporate greed.

Totally agree with the above posts but I think there will be a massive sting in the tail for our one time glorious game. The more money that comes in to the game from the greedy corporates will only end up with one very sad ending. The top 6 teams will have all the money and power to do what they want. They will break away and form a super league to include teams like Bayern, Barcelona, Real, PSG, Juventus etc. and once this happens the money from TV rights will concentrate more or less exclusively on this league leaving the rest of the PL and below with very little financial investment. This may seem far fetched at the moment but I can see it happening within the next few years. The super rich don't need to make money they just want ultimate power in whatever industry they are in, Roman Abramovich started this all off at Chelsea and it has taken the others a bit of time to join the party but it is picking up speed at an alarming rate. You may think I'm mad but I just think it will ultimately kill football as we know it forever. Looking forward to 3 o clock Saturday afternoon was part of getting through the working week not too many years ago. Sad.

Yes agree with above,
I think eds have touched on this before with detail.
The end game is to move the elite clubs to a European super league.
Leaveing the rest of local football massively under funded .

I think you will find Reed has lived off Cortese's success and now that is starting to fade. There was a reason he was voted the worst manager ever, he does not know football. I have supported this club for years and didn't think we could get anybody as bad as Lowe but with this board we are definitely trying to match him. Wonder what will happen to all their great contacts in US amd Asia when we are a championship club I am sure they will lose interest along with Virgin media back to draper tools I think lol.
