Well that's it untill Jan. We tried to bring in a wide left player today but looks like it fell through. My understanding is that we only have one player that we are looking at and he will be a loan.
We will have to bring through some very talented youth players and hope they step up.
1.) Well thanks for that piece of news. I shall not expect any further news about Saints transfers until Jan even though theis deadline is still open for 5 weeks?
Also thanks for the tip on the loan move - not something NC normally does but its a relief to know that your well informed enough to tell us he's going to change his stance on loan players.
All in all its the end for Saints then - ah well - come back Rupetrt all is forgiven

Even if cortese and Poch have said they don't want to sign anymore, which they haven't.
Let's say lambert and jayrod get injured in pre season and games up too august 31st.
Do you really think the staff will go "oh well, let's hope mayuka can play 90 mins constantly until they recover".
IMO, like gaston, wouldn't be surprised if damiao or banega were waiting til the end of the transfer window to weigh up their options.

16.) This attitude to "we don't do loans" has always made me laugh. Has Nicola come out and said so? Did I miss it? We've had players on loan previously. Did they not count?
Look, let's be sensible for a second. Do you really think that Nicola Cortese will ignore the option to bring in a player if it benefits the club? Nicola will utilise every tool in the book if it helps bring in a player we want. If he can get a player in on loan with an option to buy, I really can't see him turning it down, as potentially it removes any risk from the deal.
So, do we still not do loans? sheesh!
17.) Transfer window closes on 2nd Sept so got plenty of time to sign other players!
18.) Except there's still another month till it ends? And as far as youth players go Isgrove and Chambers look really decent from what i've seen so far. I reckon they'll both do a job in the first team next season.

Yes, we might do a loan, but only see that being a possibility if, and when, there are some gaps within the squad from injuries/suspensions-so more likely to happen in the January window.

24.) ^yeah, our first season after the takeover, when we had half a squad we loaned players, I don't see us doing so now that we do have a decent squad

28.) If the management want to loan players they will do so. If they don't want to loan players then they won't. And that my friends is that! end of.
29.) Papa waigo, cork, guly, hoover, chaplow, antonio all joined on loan with a view to a permanent move. Some did some didn't, but we DO loans if its the right player.
30.) The ones who were good though were all here with clauses to make the deals permanent. Those we didn't really want we're basically trialists on a long term basis.
31.) We got these loans in when the new regime had just taken over and two I believe were outside the transfer window. Different ball game for Saints now that the Leibherrs are totally committed.
32.) You're basing the "we don't do loans" philosophy on one season in the premiership, as in last season. Based on that philosophy we also don't do Czech centre backs or top half finishes. Surely we will sign a loan player if it fits the progression of the club. Ie if we want to see how the player beds in and performs before we decide if he should be a permanent player or not.
33.) Steven caulker to cardiff. £8m. let's hope lovren is better! Feel we missed out ther. 21, english, bright talent. Better than hooiveld anyway!
34.) The way I understand it is that Saints will only take on loan players if there is a right to buy included as part of the deal.
We took Antonio in on loan made him a player and then couldn't buy him at the end, and so our policy changed to include a buy clause in future.
Good business, he's only got a good 18 months and he's getting slower.
We should be looking for a young player to partner Jay Rod.
Again I quote from my previous post, we will not get anyone else in unless its a loan deal or free transfer. NC will not just buy in anyone for the sake of it, In Jan he will asses the situation and performance of the team and then act. I know this as my work colleague had lunch with him at the end of last season.
For all you out there saying we do not loan in players, you have short memories, NC is a hard business man and he knows what he wants.
