Its now on OS, Shaw has signed his 5 year contract

How can you disagree? This has been confirmed on Official saints. I'm fairly sure the disagree must be from someone who isn't happy he's staying with us, but that is not relevant to the point made. It is true Shaw has signed and Official saints have announced it. Stop trying to deny fact.

I know it wouldn't happen, but funny if in 2 weeks he hands in transfer request.

For some reason people don't use them as agree or disagree buttons. more as like or dislike buttons. Mostly because these people are persons and don't understand that this isn't face book and it doesn't work like that.

Just imagine it in conversation;
OP: "Hey, Luke Shaw signed a 5 year contract, look here's the source. "
RE: "I disagree. "
OP: "What are you. How. "

Then why do you write it? Look up the word person in the dictionary, should be a recent photo of you there!

Bought 2 corporate season tickets today, had a tour of the various suites.
the amount of building work and refurbishment going on is amazing.
quizzed the sales team on new players, all I could get is Luke staying and everyone is delighted that Victor has signed he will be a huge player

Saints 5 year plan started in 2009 the aim was premiership football by 2014.
Do you honestly think any club could go from league 1 to champions league in 5 years?
champions league in 5 years is going to be hard but look how far we have come since 2009

I think 7 years was the target.

We will qualify for Europa this season, Champions next season. Not a rumour not a cold hard fact, but a very deeply held belief, not out of fantasy, but there is something special happening with Saints, we will be the modern day Nottingham Forest, come from nowhere to dominate English and European football for a decade. I agree with zambucco. Most outsiders won't see what is happening down on the south coast so are confined to what they read on the news & then are surprised at the quality of signings. Most people at saints can feel & believe what is happening & i'm so pleased that our chairman isn't just a bean counter but passionatly believes & delivers. If he gets us into europe via any means within the next 2 seasons then we should be calling him saint nic

Would be happy with any improvement on last season, we're getting there slowly. Onwards and Upwards. We won't get top 10 yet, a couple of years and we'll be fighting for top 6.

We won't get top 10 yet? So that is beyond the realms of all possibility? I think top 10 is plausible with the directions the signings have taken so far. If we get 2 or 3 more very good players we'll be one of the 10 best teams in the league. Top 6 probably will take a few years though.

Absolutely - for me it is as much being taken as a 'serious' team rather than a survival outfit.

Yes, survival should always be the first milestone and mid-table the next etc,

We have the makings of a fine team, the potential of which makes me more than a little excited - I just don't want a repeat of last year's start.

That's not so much the early losses, but the fact that at times we were undeniably a Championship side - this year I want us to be and be seen as an undeniably Premiership side.

Getting there slowly? Back to back promotions and I suppose you were expecting us to win the league last season! Lol

Happy with another mid table finish maybe pushing for a season like swansea

Various bookies make us between 7th and 9th favs for the title, so logic says they think that's where we will finish. I'd be happy with that this season and then push on again next.

Just reading the regional paper talk on the sly sports page and one of the mini articles were saying Southampton is interested in Franco Di Santo from Wigan. That originates from the Birmingham Mail.
Please say that is just more paper talk, I really didn't rate him at Wigan.

Do you seriously believe everything in the papers? If everything there was true, we'd have signed about 40 players this summer. I very much doubt any players from teams that were relegated would be considered by MP.

I don't believe everything in papers but as some so called people on here say they get inside info, just thought I would see if anyone new anything or if it was complete paper talk.

Rumours about Leandro Damiao to Franco Di Santo, I don't think Franco Di santo would improve our bench let alone our first 11. We are only looking to improve the squad with potential first team players

He's out of contract, quite young (24) and a striker with Premier League experience. Might make a good squad player on the cheap. He's pretty ordinary, though.

Remember him scoring a wonder goal against newcastle

Don't be worried by Shaw not signing yet? I am - why the delay if he is going to sign? I say get it done now!

Its fine, relax. They'll all be having a few drinks tonight in Spain to celebrate his 18th and it will be announced when they come back to Southampton.

You should know by now that they love to keep us waiting!

There are two things that are certain. Luke has signed, and they will probably wait till either later tonight, or even early next week.

Just coz he turned 18 today, don't mean he's signing today.
its his birthday and proberly spending it training and with the family.
im sure it will be something done early part of next week

Not being funny, but who says he hasn't already today? just because they haven't announced it yet doesn't mean they havent. wouldn't be surprised if they left it til after pre season. He's already said he isn't going anywhere. Quit the bed wetting and just wait.

He probably has signed but they won't announce it till late for weird reasons. Possible another transfer on the card too? Who honestly knows.

any news on the benega deal it said in the press we had a 7. 5 m deal accepted the other day

We don't need Banegea now we have Wanyama, priority is a striker then a winger

I certainly wouldn't say no to signing Banega. Yes we got Wanyama but he's a defensive midfielder. Banega is often used as a CAM at Valencia.

MP said in an interview he wanted to sign Wanyama, Banega & Damiao. One down, two to go, I'd say. And no one should worry about who will be left on the bench if all three comes. The best team will always play. And clinical finishing is what we need now. The defense/defensive midfield looks good now.

Why don't we need banega? VW is a DM banega is a Am. How many more times do people need to be told?

Sorry I thought he was a dm, would be good then, I'd rather sign a winger though
