Its now on OS, Shaw has signed his 5 year contract

Believable20 Unbelievable13

How can you disagree? This has been confirmed on Official saints. I'm fairly sure the disagree must be from someone who isn't happy he's staying with us, but that is not relevant to the point made. It is true Shaw has signed and Official saints have announced it. Stop trying to deny fact.

Agree9 Disagree12

I know it wouldn't happen, but funny if in 2 weeks he hands in transfer request.

Agree5 Disagree10

For some reason people don't use them as agree or disagree buttons. more as like or dislike buttons. Mostly because these people are persons and don't understand that this isn't face book and it doesn't work like that.

Agree5 Disagree9

Just imagine it in conversation;
OP: "Hey, Luke Shaw signed a 5 year contract, look here's the source. "
RE: "I disagree. "
OP: "What are you. How. "

Agree5 Disagree5

"I know it wouldn't happen, but funny if in 2 weeks he hands in transfer request. "
Then why do you write it? Look up the word person in the dictionary, should be a recent photo of you there!

There's a rumour out of Tottenham that southampton have offered £5m for caulker

Believable3 Unbelievable7

If we have we are being very very cheeky. He is worth at least double. Not better than Lovren who cost £8m I know, but that's a bargain! Lovren worth nearer 15 IMO.

Agree4 Disagree1

Promising CB. Gone backwards in the last year though. Probably due to being in and out of the Spuds side. Great potential, though.

Agree3 Disagree1

Why would spurs sell him, he'll probably start with Vertongon next season, so he's already getting first team football, ok only 18 appearances last year, but that's only going to increase

Agree2 Disagree2

Why would we spend 5m on an unproven talent who flopped on the International stage and has been disappointing when he has played in the EPL?
Big reputation, not so great performance. We have as good or better in Stephens and Turnbull.
If we buy a defender, it won't be him, as much as Spurs would like us to. We can buy better abroad as cover for Lovren/Yoshida.

Bought 2 corporate season tickets today, had a tour of the various suites.
the amount of building work and refurbishment going on is amazing.
quizzed the sales team on new players, all I could get is Luke staying and everyone is delighted that Victor has signed he will be a huge player
The drive, determination and vision of NC is frightening
Champions League in 5 yrs?

R8 Saint

Believable11 Unbelievable5

I thought we were 2/3 years in to the 5 year plan which courtesy wanted European football at the end, which would mean in the next couple of years we should have European football

Agree1 Disagree6

Courtesy? Do you mean Nicola Cortese?
Saints 5 year plan started in 2009 the aim was premiership football by 2014.
Do you honestly think any club could go from league 1 to champions league in 5 years?
champions league in 5 years is going to be hard but look how far we have come since 2009
R8 Saint

Agree4 Disagree1

5 years to get back to the prem, we done it in 3.
I think 7 years was the target.

Agree2 Disagree2

We will qualify for Europa this season, Champions next season. Not a rumour not a cold hard fact, but a very deeply held belief, not out of fantasy, but there is something special happening with Saints, we will be the modern day Nottingham Forest, come from nowhere to dominate English and European football for a decade. COYR!

Agree4 Disagree5

How long did it take Man City?! Anything is possible in football.

Agree2 Disagree1

I agree with zambucco. Most outsiders won't see what is happening down on the south coast so are confined to what they read on the news & then are surprised at the quality of signings. Most people at saints can feel & believe what is happening & i'm so pleased that our chairman isn't just a bean counter but passionatly believes & delivers. If he gets us into europe via any means within the next 2 seasons then we should be calling him saint nic

Drogba anyone? Suits the BPL and he could help mayuka settle. Why Not?

Believable2 Unbelievable9

Get real mate drogba lol

Agree10 Disagree0

Drogba would want stupid wages

Agree8 Disagree0

Why could he help mayuka settle?

Agree6 Disagree0

Mayuka is from Zambia, Drogba from the Ivory Coast. How exactly would that help Mayuka settle, and why do people here insist every non-British player needs a babysitter? Get real guys!

Agree9 Disagree1

So by your logic Africa is all one country? Zambia and the Ivory coast aren't quite the same place.

Also he's 35, come on.

Agree6 Disagree0

Never, never and never. We would not want him and he would go to chelsea

Agree2 Disagree2

So getting Drogba in would help Mayuka settle?! Because they're both from Africa?!
Mayuka been with us a while and educated guess is that he's more at home at St Mary's than Drogba.

Agree1 Disagree1

Drogba had a trial at saints a year before he signed for Chelsea! Missed that boat I'm afraid.

Agree4 Disagree3

Would be great, wages too high probably

Agree0 Disagree4

Another pointless post

Would be happy with any improvement on last season, we're getting there slowly. Onwards and Upwards. We won't get top 10 yet, a couple of years and we'll be fighting for top 6.

Believable3 Unbelievable12

We won't get top 10 yet? So that is beyond the realms of all possibility? I think top 10 is plausible with the directions the signings have taken so far. If we get 2 or 3 more very good players we'll be one of the 10 best teams in the league. Top 6 probably will take a few years though.

Agree5 Disagree0

Absolutely - for me it is as much being taken as a 'serious' team rather than a survival outfit.

Yes, survival should always be the first milestone and mid-table the next etc,

We have the makings of a fine team, the potential of which makes me more than a little excited - I just don't want a repeat of last year's start.

That's not so much the early losses, but the fact that at times we were undeniably a Championship side - this year I want us to be and be seen as an undeniably Premiership side.

Agree3 Disagree0

Getting there slowly? Back to back promotions and I suppose you were expecting us to win the league last season! Lol
I'm happy with how things are going.
I'm sure NC will be pushing for more though!
Love him or loathe him, he clearly is one of the most intelligent chairmans there have been in the premier league.

Up the saints

Saint Martin

Agree4 Disagree0

Happy with another mid table finish maybe pushing for a season like swansea

Agree2 Disagree0

Various bookies make us between 7th and 9th favs for the title, so logic says they think that's where we will finish. I'd be happy with that this season and then push on again next.

Agree2 Disagree0

I see we have found another Saint Martin!

The REAL Saint Martin

Agree0 Disagree0

Saint Martin, why don't you just create an account so people can't claim to be you then?

Can the bed wetters please stop worrying over Shaw. it is being delayed purely to spite the daily echo and mess up their printing. The Don holds onto his grudges. and this more often than not.

Believable3 Unbelievable4

Totally agree with the above you watch the press name silly amounts of clubs who are going to sign him. cortese will sit back and lhfao

Agree3 Disagree0

I have a weak bladder. Is this a laughing matter? (pmsl)

Agree2 Disagree1

And you seriously believe this?

Agree1 Disagree2

Panic over people, he has signed the 5 year deal he said he would back in February. its on the OS

Agree1 Disagree0

It's been announced he's signed a new contract

Just reading the regional paper talk on the sly sports page and one of the mini articles were saying Southampton is interested in Franco Di Santo from Wigan. That originates from the Birmingham Mail.
Please say that is just more paper talk, I really didn't rate him at Wigan.

Hamble Chris

Believable8 Unbelievable1

Do you seriously believe everything in the papers? If everything there was true, we'd have signed about 40 players this summer. I very much doubt any players from teams that were relegated would be considered by MP.

Agree2 Disagree2

I don't believe everything in papers but as some so called people on here say they get inside info, just thought I would see if anyone new anything or if it was complete paper talk.

Hamble Chris

Agree2 Disagree1

Rumours about Leandro Damiao to Franco Di Santo, I don't think Franco Di santo would improve our bench let alone our first 11. We are only looking to improve the squad with potential first team players

Agree1 Disagree0

He's out of contract, quite young (24) and a striker with Premier League experience. Might make a good squad player on the cheap. He's pretty ordinary, though.

Agree1 Disagree0

Remember him scoring a wonder goal against newcastle

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed003's Note - Hasn't he signed for a spanish club? }

Lloyd Isgrove has signed a new contract with Saints. The young Welsh winger hopes to break into the first team this season.

Believable10 Unbelievable2

No chance

Agree1 Disagree10

May have a chance. Who thought ward-prowse and Shaw would be in the first team last season

Agree3 Disagree1

Agreed, he wouldn't be given a new deal if Poch didn't think he has the potential to break into our first team, who knows, he could solve our lack of wingers?

Agree2 Disagree2

12 Jul 2013 15:46:31
Don't be worried by Shaw not signing yet? I am - why the delay if he is going to sign? I say get it done now!

Believable6 Unbelievable8

They're travelling today, be patient, he's going to sign

Agree3 Disagree3

Its fine, relax. They'll all be having a few drinks tonight in Spain to celebrate his 18th and it will be announced when they come back to Southampton.

Agree1 Disagree3

You should know by now that they love to keep us waiting!

There are two things that are certain. Luke has signed, and they will probably wait till either later tonight, or even early next week.

Agree2 Disagree3

Just coz he turned 18 today, don't mean he's signing today.
its his birthday and proberly spending it training and with the family.
im sure it will be something done early part of next week

Agree2 Disagree4

Not being funny, but who says he hasn't already today? just because they haven't announced it yet doesn't mean they havent. wouldn't be surprised if they left it til after pre season. He's already said he isn't going anywhere. Quit the bed wetting and just wait.

Agree3 Disagree1

He probably has signed but they won't announce it till late for weird reasons. Possible another transfer on the card too? Who honestly knows.

Hey Ed!

Any news on the following:

Banega
Osvaldo
Damaio
Lamela
Stoch

Im not here to start rumours or indeed cause an arguements just interested to see if there is any news that you may or maynot be aware off regarding the above!

Thanks

James

Believable3 Unbelievable1

We just need a quality striker and a winger and possably a sub center back and then were done

Agree2 Disagree3

How can people tell you news they may not be aware of?

Agree4 Disagree1

Read the question numb nuts.

Agree2 Disagree2

I may or may not be aware of the question?!

Agree0 Disagree0

Damaio to Napoli. Lamela staying at Roma.

Agree0 Disagree2

Don't need Banega, Damaio and Lamela are doubtfull, Obsvaldo is class but I'd prefer a younger player up front, stoch maybe would be good on the wings though. I agree with the post about all we need is a stiker a winger and a sub CB a part from the CB needs to be starting as we need a solid partnership

Agree0 Disagree1

What is all this about Stoch? Where did the rumour come from?
I wish people would drop it. He is rubbish, we don't want him and won't sign him

Agree0 Disagree0

any news on the benega deal it said in the press we had a 7. 5 m deal accepted the other day

Believable6 Unbelievable4

We don't need Banegea now we have Wanyama, priority is a striker then a winger

Agree5 Disagree11

I certainly wouldn't say no to signing Banega. Yes we got Wanyama but he's a defensive midfielder. Banega is often used as a CAM at Valencia.

Lenny

Agree8 Disagree1

MP said in an interview he wanted to sign Wanyama, Banega & Damiao. One down, two to go, I'd say. And no one should worry about who will be left on the bench if all three comes. The best team will always play. And clinical finishing is what we need now. The defense/defensive midfield looks good now.

Agree8 Disagree1

Why don't we need banega? VW is a DM banega is a Am. How many more times do people need to be told?

Agree1 Disagree0

Sorry I thought he was a dm, would be good then, I'd rather sign a winger though

Albert Adomah is rumoured to be off to Fulham. Could there not be a place for him at Saints? 1.2m is the rumoured cost

Believable0 Unbelievable11

God I hope not, we've got to be aiming at a lot better than him.

Agree6 Disagree2

Guess so, he seemed pretty impressive and he's still young. If he goes to fulham I can see him being a bit of a find though.

nevermind I can see us getting a new CB soon now the club has cut its loses on Forren
