Has Forren gone on loan or did we sell him back to molde
Believable2
Unbelievable3
Sold for an undisclosed fee according to Official Saints.

We sold him back
Agree12

We sold him and got most of the money back. Does anyone know who actually signed him?
Agree4
Disagree0
Sold him
Agree2
Disagree0
Molde bought him back for half the price they sold him for
Agree4
Disagree6
Sold. what a waste of six months of his career. such a shame. could of seen him being a valuable asset to us.
Agree2
Disagree4
I think they paid £3million for him
Agree1
Disagree2
We bought him from Molde FK in January for 4 million (plus add-ons, none of which will count now), then sold him back to the same club for 3.5 million.
So 500k loss overall. ah well.
Agree3
Disagree4
We did not lose out by selling him back. We had only received the 1st instalment of the original transfer money & thus by returning him it effectively cancelled the deal out hence the lack of fuss surrounding it. The only thing saints lost out on was his paid wages during his time here
Agree3
Disagree3
We sold him back for 825k, source: TV2 Norway. Although there are add-ons that can take it to 1.2m
Agree4
Disagree6
Simon Peach also had a convo with a Norweigan Journo. Definitely under 1 million. Go search it.
Agree2

Les Reid I think along with Mayuka - think those were his last signings.
Agree1
Disagree1
Loved Nigel Adkins but think he cocked up on a few signings i. e Forte, Forren, Mayuka etc. and before you say NC signed them do you think MP would still be there if he had his hands tied over player transfers. Going to be a really great manager.

Sorensen, Banega and Damiao solve all the problems that you have mentioned. We have been strongly linked with all three and MP has confirmed our interest in Banega and Damiao. Keep your fingers crossed.
Optimistic Saint
Believable3
Unbelievable3
Banega isn't really a winger though, he's a central attacking midfielder. We need a new winger.
Agree3
Disagree3
I think we need a more experienced left footed CB than Sorenson, who can lead our back 4, who would be cheaper
Agree1
Disagree2
^Agreed, Gaston can play there but he's better in AM
Agree1
Disagree1
Hoping that we hear something positive soon
Agree2
Disagree0
I don't think we will play with classic English style out and out wingers. MP will pack the midfield, get our full backs to push on and prob just have a single striker.
Optimistic Saing
Agree6
Disagree1
We don't really play with wingers, seems to be the full backs that provide the width, I'd expect a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 narrow next season
Agree4
Disagree2
Unless we focus more on wing backs with extra in the centre with a dm dropping as a third cb in a more 352 formation
Agree2
Disagree0
As much as I like the idea of Damiao. Internacional don't want to sell him and don't need to sell him (just sold Fred for 15 mill). There is only 1 week left of the Brazilian transfer window, which with the way NC completes trades isn't enough time. Not sure it's going to happen people.
Saint Jim
Agree3
Disagree1
The transfer window of a country only effects its clubs for players they buy. e.g saints could sell sharp at any point this year but could only buy a replacement before 1st September
Agree0
Disagree0
We've signed a winger guys.
Lloyd Isgrove - another great product of our academy.
Since one of Mo-Po's briefs is to develop the kids, he will have to leave a few spaces for them, and Lloyd will definitely get game time this year.

So what positions are we looking for now in theory I think we should be looking to sign 2/3 players but I think in a perfect world we would need 5 to have a well balanced team
RB- We literally don't have a fallback for this position, yes cork or one of the cbs can fill in but then we're losing a first team player to fill a hole.
LB-It isn't that fox isn't good enough which I personally ain't that fussed about it's his mistakes that are the problem.
CB- I think this is one we are actively looking for, I think the reason we got rid off forren is he is too slow, with the high line we play I always questioned his purchase.
LW/RW/AM I think we need one of these positions. Preferably someone that can play in more than one of those positions, gaston, puncheon, rodriquez lallana and I guess now chambers, can play in more than one, so one more in any of those positions and we'll be set
ST I think it could be quite understandable if lambert isn't as strong this season and we do need to look to the future,
Now I honestly think the priorities are ST CB, (I think that the fullback positions should be aswell personally) and then hopefully 1 other player, but I wouldn't be surprised if the ambitious bids to sign zouma/sorenson and damiao/osvaldo even though they play at other ends of the field, would only happen if the other move collapsed. Rather than if all go's well sign both. I hope that we have more than just the one or even two signings coming as having a few class buys didn't stop qpr suffering there second season
Believable4
Unbelievable5
Apologies thought I posted this on the banter page.
Agree2
Disagree1
I think Callum Chambers will be given a chance to cover RB, if not Cork can play there, at LB I think Taggart will be given a chance to see if he can play cover, but otherwise, Clyne can play there and Cork can fill in at RB, I agree we need a CB, LW/RW/AM and a ST, I'm thinking Michael Dawson, Moses and Damiao?
Agree4
Disagree3
Chambers can play RB as can cork, MP seems to like fox. I think ideally we need another quality CB that can play LB as well. A Striker that is equally adapt at playing as a winger with a lot of pace, dribbling abilty and good crossing. So 2-3 signings needed max!
Agree5
Disagree0
What about the Goal Keeper. I am surprised that there has been no mention here. Kelvin is very much a third stream player now and should focus on being a Coach. Gazzinger looked okay but didn't feature in the second half of the season Boruc is good but if he gets injured what's the cover? Schmeichel would be worth bringing in. any other ideas please. ?
Agree5
Disagree3
Need some pace in the wide forward positions. Ramirez and Lallana are strollers.
Agree2
Disagree1
If we bring in Sorenson he is predominately a CB but has been used at RB alot. Winger should be Dyer, Moses, Garcia or Berardi and striker should be Damaio
Agree2
Disagree0
We SHOULD buy Astori.
Imagine the back four of Shaw, Astori, Lovren, Clyne. Best defence in the league in my opinion!

Lennon has announced that Gary Hooper has probably played his last game at Celtic! The player wants to leave. Do you think we might put a cheeky bid or has he had his chance when we were in the championship?
St Joe!
Believable5
Unbelievable4
Think it'd be a disaster to go for him now. What a drop in standard for a potential signing from Damiao to Hooper. He'd be best going back to Adkins at Reading.
Agree12
Disagree2
If mayuka went or becomes a winger, then a bid could be likely but only for the bench.
Agree1
Disagree4
Is it just me who thinks he could do a job for us? Physical, an eye for goal, a strong frontman similar to Ricky. We need someone who can play football in the EPL style not a prima European person who like so many others falls over when the ball comes near them.
Hooper and wanyama know each others style and could link up well again.
Agree5
Disagree2
Hooper is probably too lazy to play our pressing game so won't fit in.
Agree4
Disagree4
I also think he'd be good, he scores in the champions league, he's a proven player and would be great for us
Agree3
Disagree4
Hooper isn't as much of a clinical striker as you might think. He's also more not as much of a powerhouse player. Bit more similar to Billy Sharp and if we wanted someone like that, we'd keep Sharp. Don't get me wrong he's a good player, but not what we need to take us forward.
Agree4
Disagree1
If you'd ever watched hooper play you would know he isn't lazy and one of his main strengths is he doesn't give defenders time on the ball!
Agree3
Disagree0
Agree with the poster above. The original reason I put this up was because every time I have seen him play I have been quite impressed with his ability to get past defenders. Something needed in this division.
Ricky does so well for us because of his intelligence off the ball and because he pushes through giving no one respect and that comes across from what I have seen in hooper.
There's also the fact he wouldn't cost us anything like the 20 million being touted for the completely untested damiao.
Agree2
Disagree0
I'm sorry but Hooper is more untested than Damiao. The Brazilian league is of a far higher standard than the SPL and he has made their national side!
Agree1
Disagree3
What is it with some of you guys on here, oh he plays in the spl he must be mince, given the right service Hooper will score goals at any level he has already scored goals in the champions league games, lazy? not the hooper I watch a very clever player at finding space and a very good finisher.
Agree4
Disagree0
Agree mate. I have no idea why people put down the players in the SPL purely because they play in that league. hooper looks good to me with our style of play. He has looked very good at finding space off the ball in a similar way to our Ricky. I think he could be a quality signing and wouldn't cost 20 million!
Agree2
Disagree1
Lol how can the players that are in the spl be bad you just bought a player from celtic in wanyama 1 of the best players in the world gary hooper is another he would score loads of goals for Southampton

Osvaldo has allegedly refuse to start contract negotiations with Southampton after they agreed a 20m fee with Roma. He's a great player, but honestly that's money we should be spending differently with his attitude, past and present.
Believable8
Unbelievable3
I'm not sure this rumour has at any point had substance to it. Pochettino did confirm points of interest but never said Osvaldo was one.

Valencia have given Banega an ultimatum of sign a new contract or they will sell him as they don't want to lose him on a free. Poch & Cortese are upping their interest.
Believable6
Unbelievable2
Upping their interest? From interested to reeeeeeally interested?
I know he was one of the ones we were looking at and have been quite impressed with what I have seen but, like most others we are mentioned with its gone all quiet. Am guessing we won't hear anything until an announcement is made if it happens

Southampton are in talks with Kurt Zouma from Saint-Ettiene after having an £11million bid accepted. Zouma is seen to be a perfect replacement for Vergard Forren following his return to Molde FK.

Very highly rated. Can't see this happen in my opinion. Do we really need an 11mil cb?

A quick search of the web and you find chelsea being linked and a rumour of ten million. Nothing about saints and eleven million bid. The club are quoted as saying he is going nowhere.

Internacional president luigi stated "For me there is no negotiation started for Damiao with Napoli, this must be a guess because, I repeat, Napoli have not mentioned this interest either now or in the past. "
He said no interest fro Napoli but didn't say no interest from saints.
He also said "How much is he worth? I do not know if I'm going to sell. He should remain here. I believe the player will be here for at least another year. " Not sure what to make of it more of an update on the situation. I think saints will defo meet the asking price of the rumoured £21m though, which may put off a few other clubs trying to get him on the cheap. Inter wouldn't be able to refuse that sort of bid
Believable6
Unbelievable5
I think this is more likely to suggest he isn't going anywhere. But it is good news that they have indicated Napoli isn't true because it means we have one less theoretical opponent for his signature.

Do you think there are players we have already signed but waiting to announce, as Cortese said he would announce players when right to do so?
Believable3
Unbelievable3
Yes there is. But only the one & awaiting usual stuff to be completed. Remember lovren was signed 10 days before it was announced. Also we are in very advanced negotiations with a massive signing circa £20m. doesn't take a rocket scientist to narrow the names down from those we have been actively linked with.
Agree2
Disagree10
Yes I do. Or maybe waiting to out pen to paper. Maybe banega. I don't think we will be signing another 5 odd players though
Agree3
Disagree2
Was having a look through the net, and can across a report out of Spain based on ever banega back in February 2013. They were saying although banega was one of their best players that season, his failure to keep out of the media spotlight was proving to much for the new Valencia manager, and he was going to be placed on the transfer list in the summer (now). Even more likely out bid a few weeks back were accepted and I think we could already have signed him
Saintsmiff

Well, on the OS they have a blog on the training camp. It mentions there were passport issues with a "as yet unnamed player". Could be a new signing?
Agree4
Disagree2
Saints not announcing anything until international clearance and work permit is in place. Fair enough too. No good announcing a signing before all the I and t crossing and dotting is done. As the press conference statement said saints will announce when they choose to make public.

Southampton want a new striker to replace the departed (ing) barnard, sharp, lee, Young Austrian forward Philipp Hosiner is the player on MP shortlist. does anyone know if he's good or not?
Believable3
Unbelievable7
Incredible scoring record in Austria so may worth giving him a shot. Untried at this level so unlikely to be our only forward signing
Agree4
Disagree2
We will not be taking a punt on an untested striker all the time we have mayuka in that situation. We will be signing a proven goalscorer from one of the top 5 leagues in europe

Damaio

Looking at him on YouTube he seems a good poacher and seems good one on one against keepers.
I don't know enough about the Austrian league to know how it compares to the EPL.
