According to a daily newspaper, we could reignite our interest in Davide Astori. He is an Italian centre back who plays for Cagliari in Italy. We could get him for about €10 million. What do you guys think about this. Would this be a good signing or not

Believable2 Unbelievable6

Would be really cruel on Fonte given how much he's upped his game this season. I don't think they'll be much activity in January for the defence as we're pretty strong in that area at the moment, probably more in upfront/midfield is what we'll be looking at if we decide to do any dealings.

Agree7 Disagree4

Agree with original poster. And agree that it would appear unfair on Fonte, however this is what happens when you progress, you need to improve all the time in every position!

Agree2 Disagree2

I recall this guy has a very vocal agent who has been trying to engineer a move for him for around 2 years!
May have some basis this time, but I doubt it. Saints are very quiet about who they may be looking at and it is normally only as the deal is being completed some information may leak out.

Cover at left back is key. Fox is not a Premier League player and should be sold. Shaw may benefit from learning from a good pro who has experience.

Agree2 Disagree1

Didnt Poch say they looked at Astori and Lovren and decided on Lovren?

Agree5 Disagree2

Sorry to disagree, But we all knew about the Wanayama and Osvaldo deals weeks before they actually happened! This is a non-fact that we keep our deals quiet these days. It doesn't happened.

Agree4 Disagree2

We try and keep our deals quiet and with some it works. Barely anybody heard about the Lovren move before it happened. That's why we can't really know what to expect at Southampton, the press are sometimes right, often wrong and a lot of the time we don't know what to think.

Agree2 Disagree1

Poor buy Osvaldo, no improvement on Lambo or Jrod but cost more and bet he's on more money as well. Not everything NC and MP does works out. Osvaldo won't be a saint in 18 months, might be gone next summer but Jan too early

Agree6 Disagree8

Agree with the above. Osvaldo is Poch's mate. If he's peanut more time with Rickie and Jrod he'd no Osvaldo offers nothing different. He's younger than Rickie but he'll leave before Rickie, mark my words!

Agree3 Disagree1

Did astori not move to milan in the summer gone?

cork on loan in january to fulham. ramierez missing which means he gone

Believable6 Unbelievable14

2 class players it will be a shame to see them go but hopefully we can bring in more fantastic players

Agree3 Disagree3

A repeat of very old, previously false rumours Don't see it being any more accurate just because it is repeated.

Cork on loan, why? Fulham made a bid that was much higher than reported and it was turned down flatly by NC. Yes we're doing well and Big Vic is, well Big! He's started collecting bookings and can't pass. Cork isn't finished with Saints, if he was NC would have taken the money in August.

Agree3 Disagree1

Martin Jol has come out and has said that he has no interest in Cork. Now can we please put these Jack Cork rumours to bed now. He won't be sold and we will rotate him later in the season, especially when we have the massive pile of fixtures in December. A player of Jack Cork's ability will be very useful for our squad. I think people forget that a club (especially if they want Europe) need squad depth.

Agree3 Disagree2

Jol mentioned Cork in his presser today. He likes the player apparently!

Agree2 Disagree0

It's a creative midfielder and a goalscorer or two that we need. We've got the best defensive now so why not cash in one a fringe player?

Agree1 Disagree2

'Cos as saintsfan25 said we 'need squad depth'. We don't need to 'cash in' if Poch thinks we need strengthening.

Agree3 Disagree2

JWP and Davis already had more premier league game time than Cork this season, that's your strength in depth.

Agree1 Disagree3

Can we just play Jack Cork again, he could be part of the existing midfield, he's proven himself as a quality player and I agree with the above posts, he is a good/accurate passer of the ball, tracking, marking and tackling. and in my eyes better than the player who replaced him
