Getting linked now to felipe Anderson from Lazio would love this to be true! Any truth it this rumour Ed's?

Mad_Saint_97

{Ed002's Note - He is being hawked around I doubt that there is any chance he will end up in Southampton I am afraid.}

1.) 05 Jun 2018 11:39:37
Yeh, I have read this aswell, Fingers crossed.

2.) 05 Jun 2018 12:56:15
West Ham has supposedly had a 38m (in euro) bid rejected. So I doubt we'll be able to capture him if Lazio want more than that.

21 Jan 2018 20:48:35
Heard from a good source that promes has been to a couple of games in the last few games one being against Huddersfield. Sparta are happy for him to leave but would like the 30 million price tag.

1.) 22 Jan 2018 15:32:43
fingers crossed. I have to admit, I would like to see the board put their money in the pockets on this one, as he seems like the type of player that could give our attack a real shot in the arm for the second half of the season.

2.) 22 Jan 2018 16:07:00
He would be an incredible signing and could well double in value in a year or two if he impacts the way he could. Also good for the squad to see another quality international come in.

3.) 22 Jan 2018 17:58:57
8 days left and still nothing. If either it both Promes and Carillion ( lol) are coming in then they are going to the wire by the looks of it. Come on get a shift on!

4.) 22 Jan 2018 19:21:10
Would love to see Promes come in, class player. Carillo I’m not too excited about, not worth anywhere near the money Monaco are asking for and his goal scoring record is hardly incredible. Still think the board needs to be looking for another CB to help with squad depth now van Dijk has gone.

5.) 22 Jan 2018 20:01:46
We need a cb long term but I think we have bigger needs in Jan. Stephens, Yoshida and Hoedt are decent still. More important to get at least one attacker in.

6.) 22 Jan 2018 20:56:47
'bailey', I think Hoedt is/ was Van Dyke's long term replacement.
** Have just read Saints are trying to tie up a £50m double swoop for Quincy Promes and Guido Carrillo.
Not holding my breath, but could be the NEW Pelle and Mana combo?

7.) 22 Jan 2018 21:14:06
I seem to recall les quite categorically that he was not a replacement for VVD, soon after we signed him.

8.) 22 Jan 2018 21:17:59
Hoedt and Stephens starters with Maya as back up, one or two injuries and Bednarek is starting, from what I’ve seen of him so far that won’t be working very well in the Prem. Of course we need to address the situation up front however another CB is key in my opinion.

9.) 22 Jan 2018 21:39:54
Les probably said that at the time for other reasons, considering what was going on at the time! In Hindsight, In my opinion, He was a replacement!

10.) 23 Jan 2018 07:17:06
I'm not sure whether a new CB is needed. I think our main issue this season is that we've rotated the defence too much. It started off as Stephens and Yoshida. Then went to Hoedt and Yoshida and then we brought VVD back in. Now that he's gone I think we should just stick to the same 2 CBS. Stephens and Hoedt, and if we carry on with these defensive problems we find a new one in the summer.

11.) 23 Jan 2018 08:49:01
I have a horrible feeling nobody is coming in 😪 if they are why the wait get them in get them training and ready for Brighton Slimani to Monaco maybe the wait for Carillo but Promes will be down to us not offering the money.

12.) 23 Jan 2018 15:54:37
It is the wait to get Silva in beforeSaturday?

13.) 23 Jan 2018 16:05:42
Being sold down the river by Les, kat and Kruger and co,18th richest club in the world, yes the world according to reports today, sold Virgil for 75 million but still no signings, only at club to line there pockets,

14.) 23 Jan 2018 17:09:16
There is a caveat to us being 18th 'richest' club in the world on Deloitte's top 20 list because it focuses simply on revenue generated by the club which is massively inflated at the moment in the premier league due to the current tv deal and relates to last season rather then right now - we've been subject to a takeover. It does not give a true reflection, in our case and Everton's especially on spending power which is what matters when it comes to signings. Just because you get a lot of money in, doesn't mean you necessarily generate a huge profit that can be reinvested in the first team squad. Nor do we currently have the pulling power of a regular champions league qualifier. In other words, the list is pretty limited.

15.) 23 Jan 2018 17:39:03
We do appear in 18th place on Deloitte’s list of the top 20 richest clubs in the world, but I think the title is hugely misleading. Firstly, it only relates to each club’s standing at the end of last season and it only relates to revenue – i. e how much income the club received, not profit made or transfer funds available. Income was hugely inflated for all Premier League clubs last season due to the ridiculous TV rights deal, so unsurprisingly, there are 10 in this top 20 list. However, when you see Saints higher up the list then clubs like Napoli and Everton you begin to realise that the list isn’t really a true reflection of a club’s wealth. It doesn’t refer to actual profit, nor wealth of the club’s owners which seems to dramatically affect the club’s spending power in the transfer market. let's also not forget that Napoli, who are on course to challenge for, if not win Serie A, and offer Champions league football are going to have more pulling power than Saints. let's not go down the VVD route of expecting Liverpool to have paid us £75m in cash a few weeks ago to get their man. That isn’t how transfers work. We average 8,000 less fans per game than Everton and they charge slightly more than we do on average for a matchday ticket. They have a rather wealthy owner who is eager to splash the cash. We most certainly are not the 18th richest club in the world.

16.) 23 Jan 2018 19:14:47
really good posts figodasilva and a point well made.

17.) 23 Jan 2018 19:31:00
Saints should be reinforcing the squad, not long to go now before the window shuts, the club is stagnating, there is money in the bank, are the owners only in it to make money for themselves it sure seems that way.

18.) 23 Jan 2018 21:27:57
I honestly think they are waiting to recruit a new manager
I think they anticipated us losing Sunday and are now waiting for our next defeat to justify the decision
We will only know when he loses next.

19.) 24 Jan 2018 07:28:46
Mark 29 Figo wrote another very well reasoned and thought out post explaining the errors in your thinking, and you've just completely ignored every word of it! I find it frustrating to see, Figo must find it especially so after spending time doing that!

20.) 24 Jan 2018 12:11:06
Ok saints 123 so your happy with the club's situation at the moment, getting 75 million for van dyke, millions TV money, there's obvious weaknesses in the squad ie only 2 fit first team strikers and Redmond's complete lack of form, the truth is if reinforcements are not brought in and with this manager we will go down.

21.) 24 Jan 2018 12:57:26
Could I see these Bank statements that you have access to? And of course I'm not happy with the current situation - did I say anything whatsoever to suggest I am? or are you just saying that to avoid addressing the flaws in what you said?

It's been explained many times on this site by myself and others, but the VVD transfer is not as simple as us now having 75 million to go out and spend. The payments would be staggered, and from the sound of it they are quite spread out in the VVD deal and that is how we got such a huge overall amount out of them.

The truth is NOT that we will go down without signings, it is that we will go down unless we turn our form around. Signing players is one of many ways this can be done. A new manager is another one, as is simply changing approach or tweaking tactics. Anyway, all evidence suggests the board is looking to sign players, some of whom are quite high profile and expensive if the rumours are to be believed.

The frustrating part is when your initial complaint is broken down in such detail and discredited slightly, and you just remain steadfast in your views and completely ignore a very reasonable and patient post by Figo. You're entitled to continue thinking whatever you want, but if you want to do so publicly it might help to at least ackowledge all of the reasons he gave why you're mistaken.

19 Jan 2018 17:21:18
Now getting linked to slimani from Leicester think this would be a good signing! According to sky reports.

Mad_Saint_97

1.) 19 Jan 2018 18:19:20
I would like that. I think he's the type of mould of player we need. I don't know much more about him than that.

The whole club is a laughing stock how this has happened in two years is a joke! Board keeps selling our best players and thinking we can still go on the next season bettering the year before eventually it was going to catch them up and here we are getting destroyed to a current poor West Ham team in a scrap at the bottom of the table. I for one am not going to be renewing my season ticket like a lot of people I know.

Mad_Saint_97

1.) 01 Apr 2018 08:55:50
If we had got rid of VVD when he wanted to go and replaced him with quality and not sacked Claude Puel we would not be where we are. We appointed an unproven manager in MP2, why? I’m not sure to be honest and then after a disastrous season with the writing on the wall for months and months we sack him. We then appoint the ex manager of the club immediately below us in the table who was sacked for not being motivational enough and getting the best out of a pretty decent squad, I hope you understand what I’m saying because this situation is just plain crazy. We needed a very quick fix to try to get out of a desperate situation and settled for same old, same old manager. We needed someone like Strachan or Pearson to go ballistic in the dressing room. The players have let us down badly agreed but the buck stops outside the offices of Kruger and Reed for some unbelievable decisions over the last 18 months. Just that period ago supporters were licking their lips and even fantasising about the top four, ridiculous as that was, but the club gave us belief. What now, who knows? A total and absolute mess may be a suitable way of describing it. Very sad.

Finally he's gone! I'm afraid it could Be a little to late though.

10 Mar 2018 15:36:24
This team is a joke! Nobody in that team is worthy of wearing the shirt. Definitely relegation for us this year I'm afraid you can't see where the goals are going to come from.

Quincey promes has just commented on a Instagram post about him saying he doesn't want to join just us commenting "false".

Mad_Saint_97

1.) 27 Jan 2018 12:59:30
Read that as well. Maybe he will push for a move to us! Even if he sees us as a stepping stone only.

2.) 27 Jan 2018 14:38:52
Yeah I'd take him for a season or 2 and then put him in the window
I'd be massively surprised if we pull off this one but if we did wow
That would be a sign of intent for the seasons remaining
Games.

3.) 27 Jan 2018 17:34:26
So into R5 guys. Carillo played the last 7 mins.

Must win V the Seagulls on Wed. Let’s hope last weeks game against Tottenham and today has put some fire in Saints bellies.

4.) 27 Jan 2018 20:02:52
Geez JRod is on fire tonight v The reds. 3 goals in 4 mins!

5.) 27 Jan 2018 23:44:05
Well he scored two but was outstanding. What confuses me is that we nursed him back to health after a terrible injury and before he was back to his best we sell him and are now struggling for a decent forward. Are we mad we knew he was a class player . Once again today we were all over them but in the last 20 minutes we did our best to let them get back at us. Very confusing. This manager is likely to take us down if we don't do something about it. We could have won by about 3 today without a doubt. I am happy for Claude Puel he is doing well at Leicester which must tell us something. I think he was treated badly by SFC.

6.) 28 Jan 2018 04:15:40
Oh come on Chris. He’s not exactly been banging them in this season for West Brom. Yes two goals in one game is great. JWP did that recently. Doesn’t make him a goal machine either. He had time after his injury to prove himself and couldn’t break into the team because the managers thought others were better. When he did get his chances he didn’t take them. Let’s hope our new signing can perform. Let’s also hope we do get Quincy in. New players also tend to up the rest of the teams performance.
On another note reading today Hughes is linked as MPs potential replacement. Not sure whether that’s good or bad.

7.) 28 Jan 2018 08:19:30
Ha Ha. SaintChris, that was the perfect example of finding a reason to be unhappy despite a win. J-Rod has scored 4 goals in 23 league appearances for the Baggies this season. I don’t think we can criticise the decision to let him go every time he scores a goal or two. As Cyprus says, we let him go because he couldn’t get regular football and I think all fans agreed it was best for him to go and get first team football somewhere. He would not be the answer to the goal drought. It is a broader problem than simply having one player. let's also not forget that we’ve just brought in a striker who played his first minutes for us yesterday and we’re trying to get someone else in. Rather than pining for one we’ve sold, let's look forward to one we’ve just signed.

If we could’ve had about three goals today, how is that MP’s fault? If chances are being missed, which they are regularly, unless you expect MP to run on and head or volley in every chance going begging, I suggest its more to do with the players missing the chances. That’s why we’ve bought a new forward.

Yes CP is doing well at Leicester, but let's not forget they still have their best two attacking players and a very good goalkeeper. They have had a largely balanced coaching staff since Claudio was at the helm. If we had Vardy and Mahrez last season, would we have performed better in the league under CP? Who knows. Was CP sacked purely because the board were over-ambitious? Maybe. Was he sacked because the fans were unhappy at the style of football and the players reportedly unhappy behind the scenes? Maybe. We don’t know all the reasons and we cannot compare ourselves to Leicester so I don’t know why you’re bothering.

8.) 28 Jan 2018 10:32:11
I reckon we should just worry about us and doth our cap when someone who used to be linked to us does well. I'd love to see j rod find awesome form and banging on the door for a world cup place after what happened to him last time round and wish him all the luck ( though not against us) . Nearly every game now is involving ex players or ex managers and good luck to them all yeah I like to check in and see they're doing well but my only concern is saints safety . a cup run would be nice but I'd take league over it all day.

9.) 28 Jan 2018 10:53:02
I watched Claud puels team last year at saints and it was boring
Yes he's doing very well at Leicester but I think that he just didn't fit our club or atleast the players we have or had at the time
To be fare to Leicester they have a team that's better than ours which is why they won the league
Un like us they have kept the main nucleus of the team and have added with quality when required
I hope pellegrino learns from his mistakes this season otherwise the inevitable could happen.

10.) 28 Jan 2018 14:47:43
I knew when I said what I said I would get hammered. The bit about most of the fans thought it best for JRod to move on amuses me. The board haven't taken any notice at all of us when the majority of us wanted MP to move on. The point about JWP is different we have been looking for a quick decisive forward not another midfield player. J Rod could make us regret letting him go.

Really think we should be looking at Gameiro from athletico he’s dropped behind griezman and now costa so will be desperate for game time but most importantly he knows where the goal is.

Don’t know why people keep banging on about Carrillo’s goal record the guy scores a decent amount of goals for Monaco by only coming off the bench! Plus he’s a big target man that we need to hold up the play. If you remember not to long ago pelle wasn’t the greatest for scoring lots of goals but he did a great job at holding up the ball and bringing others into play.

I’m worried at the fact we’re getting linked to a lot of very injury prone players! Yes I would be happy to have Sturridge but if he stays fit! Same goes for Walcott.

Was thinking the same thing! He didn’t get a look in purely down to our midfield he did what he could with what he was given only got one chance in the game and it was a difficult header to score being it was on the penalty spot.

Is this the same gabbiadini who hasn’t started a game in god knows how long! Jesus some saints fans need to get a grip playing someone like him on his own up front isn’t going to get his full potential especially when he’s barely had any game time.
