Any news in if any of the transfer targets or buyers of the club are genuine Ed's.

{Ed002's Note - I really have no idea what you are talking about. I am not aware or any offers to buy the club. Sorry.}

1.) 03 May 2020 21:09:08
Fake news about Gao trying to sell his stake in the club for half his original asking price.

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of that.}

15 Dec 2017 11:14:54
So Eds any news on ins and outs VVD on the move?

{Ed002's Note - A tough one at this time. There is a chance VVD will leave in January but it is always difficult commenting on the timing of transfers. The club has looked at forwards - Paco Alcacer (F) has been trying to force a move out of Barcelona and they will accommodate that once they have a replacement - the summer would be more likely and although Southampton and Everton are interested, he will have potentially more attractive options elsewhere. Also, Mohamed Elyounoussi (F) has been watched on a couple of occasions recently

Ben Godfrey (M) a potential summer target for several PL and Championship clubs, including Southampton.}

1.) 17 Dec 2017 12:31:03
Many thanks.

14 Nov 2017 07:26:49
So ED'S any ins or outs you think will happen surely VVD to Liverpool has to start as with a new window the tapping up is a thing of the past and they can make an offer without fear of a complaint.

{Ed002's Note - Why would the "tapping up" be a thing of the past? The complaint still sits on file. They formally withdrew all interest at the same time they apologised - would they be withdrawing their apology? If so then an offer is possible butLiverpool have been looking elsewhere at centre backs. Southampton want to add a striker - Paco Alcacer has been trying to force a move out of Barcelona and they will accommodate that once they have a replacement - the summer would be more likely and although Southampton are interested, he will have potentially more attractive options elsewhere. A loan for Stevan Jovetic has been suggested but if he moves I think Newcastle will provide a home, thereby freeing up Aleksandar Mitrovic who would be a good option.}

1.) 14 Nov 2017 15:20:33
thanks Eds I assumed clearly wrongly that they could argue a change of position now its a different window and make some reason without fear of reprisal. As no formal offer was put forward I thought it would be difficult to prove rumour and speculation. Would love Mitrovic who has masses of potential would be cheap but is clearly a bit hot headed. Be nice to see a saints forward roughing up the defence for a change, he could develop into anything so potential which suits the model.

{Ed002's Note - It wasn't rumour and speculation, Liverpool again acted illegally and what Klopp did was entirely unacceptable. If they wish to finally make an offer for the player the owners who yet again trailed slime to the door of another side to give a grovelling apology in order to avoid charges will be an absoolute laughing stock. The complaint remains on file.}

2.) 15 Nov 2017 11:53:37
Finally, after all the speculation I was wondering where are we are all at?
As supporter's in this day and age should we remain loyal to players? Like the old days. Through think and thin or should we adapt to the mindset of players like v. v. d who clearly felt our club had or has no real desire to truly win anything over the need to make a profit first and full most!

What am I talking about? Well in my view I am bother that Shane long works like a dog in every match but hasn't been effective in doing his job ( scoring goals or helping others to score. ) yet the club sold Saido Maine who scored goals for fun without continuely work as hard in every match! as long does. Le tiss never worked hard but was supremely effective in scoring goals!

Selling saido has taking us backwards and down the league
yet our club had the so called blackbox that identify's the quality of each player. cross refrancing their quality's and desided to sell the best player of the pair for a hugh profit.

Isn't fair then that V. V. D saw this too and asking himself what are his dreams and desires. And isn't it our job to point this out to the club and ask why?

It makes no sense why let Koeman go year before his contract was up! just to cash in. While forcing another person to remain at the club he no longer wishes to be at?

It seems to me we should be asking these types of questions at the board and I am wondering our we going repeat this all over again now the club has new owners who as business minded people may wish to seek a return on their investment over the next few seasons. This the loop continues.

3.) 16 Nov 2017 16:50:11
4thelove, how can you have so little understanding of what has happened with our club in recent years with regard to koeman etc?

4.) 18 Nov 2017 11:14:14
Sorry but I am at a loss to your meaning in your reply. If you could explain why you believe I have little understanding as to what has been going on at the club we love and support.

All I am saying our club bangs on about it's blackbox using it as they do to identify the players they wish to bring into the club to help improve our team and to monitor the players we already have.

As far as I can recall Saido never asked to move on and Shane long has never scored more then 15 goals in a season so why sale saido and not long first? Saido is clearly the younger and better player.!

As for Koeman the club needs to be consistent in their approch and actions.

Koeman said himself he expected Southampton to say we are not releasing you from your contract.

Fair play to our clubs board they did say they longer wished to sale our best players at the end of last season and they stuck to their word hugh progress in that regard. But a lot of damage was done. If they continue sticking to these new approch and slipping back to old ways.

Players need faith in their teammates, manger and club alike I like to think loyalty counts for something but the last time it happen at our was when we wentdown to league one and we asked Kevin Davis to stick with us!

The new owner's will no doubt look to get their 200 million at some point but we need to pressure the board don't to do it the same way by undermining clubs currant outlook saling our better players. A ruthless approch is needed sale players quickly that don't match expectations centre forward should be scoring at lease 15 goals a season subject to injury. Shane long isn't that good of a player full stop. We should sale him in the summer and try and buy Tim winner.

{Ed001's Note - Sadio did ask to move on, just like he did when he joined you in the first place, after going on strike at RBS to force a move through.}

Reading the Liverpool forum and they are still desperate for VVD it seems. Also Clyne is being slated and they inference is as soon as they can he will be sold on as he is not wanted.

1.) 16 Oct 2017 23:08:22
I feel for luke Shaw. he's been publicly torn to shreds and looks broken. I know his 100 grand a week and perhaps questionable attitude but his talent is undeniable. hopefully he can find fitness and maybe a move that suits him.

2.) 17 Oct 2017 10:01:30
Luke Shaw .
At Southampton he was treated the Southampton Way, treated as a young man, a young man with exceptional talent . who played his heart out for us, was rarely injured or missed a game, who's fitness was never in doubt as he bombed up and down the wing = England left back.
I followed him on twitter . a game of bowling with his buddies, Nandos with his mates, golf with his mates . all the things that a 17/ 18 year old should be doing!
He moves to Manchester . what do they do, shove him in some plush City Centre hotel to live . only 'mates' around, not real mates but footballers who regard themselves as celebrities! I think the first event he attended was a boxing match (from memory) where all the Man U players had ring side seats .

That same evening there were a few of Saints players in Ceno's sat eating, chatting, no show offs, just sensible guys having a chat and giggle .

So from young man going to Nandos with his mates, playing xbox . to part of the Marketing Giant that is Man U .

He was still a boy . sad . great player . great attitude.

{Ed001's Note - Clyne was similar, moved to Liverpool and it all went to his head. The clubs made a mess of things in both cases.}

3.) 17 Oct 2017 16:38:49
It is such a shame .
I look ay Lemina we have just signed from Juventus, articulate, sociable, cheerful . plays his heart and socks off .
It seems for us, that character is a huge part of the selection process and then they are encouraged almost into a family way .
Luke Shaw didn't go from being injury free, very fit, England left back to this . shame .
Clyne was also superb .

Some of you guys have short memories, sorry . Luke Shaw was always injured when he was here with muscle strains.

16 Oct 2017 11:32:56
On a positive note think Lemina is going to be an incredible purchase whether we can hold on to him could be another issue. Seems to of adapted and is bossing the game already. Great to Gabbi back amongst the goals. Not sure what FF is doing at the moment and that has to put the fear of god into those in front of him.

1.) 16 Oct 2017 12:51:31
What does Charlie Austin have to do to be given a chance? 10 minutes at the end of a game is not enough. Long has had his fair share of chances. CA has to be given a run / starts in the team to show what he can do!

2.) 16 Oct 2017 13:25:44
Hi Ben, I partly agree with you what about Austin and Gabbiadini up front and Long replacing Redmond on the wing, he is certainly more direct and aggressive and would give other teams more to think about and possibly restrict them moving forward. It makes you wonder at the wisdom of selling Jay Rodrigues!
Regards vs.

3.) 16 Oct 2017 16:26:22
Good shout Vintagesaint, for me I just want to see Charlie on the pitch, and I do think it could work with Gabbi, long haworked out on the flanks for us before so yes I could see that working.

4.) 16 Oct 2017 20:35:23
Guys, all well and good saying let's play Gabbi, Shane and Charlie. but that's all 3 of our strikers! Any injuries, we're in that brown stuff.

5.) 16 Oct 2017 20:54:06
Hi staffs, I take your point but 9 points from 8 games is relegation form and if you look at our run of games over Xmas and run up we will not be picking up many points there. The only consolation is we are not the worst team by any means but let's not kid ourselves we are poor but not the worst but is that the height of our hopes and aspirations mid table mediocrity? The game is awash with money but I believe the standard of football has declined and Saints unfortunately epitomise this and it's not a complicated game and we look poor too often. Regards vs.

6.) 17 Oct 2017 03:33:19
I like this scenario but it doesn't account for Davis and I think Davis needs to be in the team. He's a massive miss for me.

7.) 17 Oct 2017 23:41:57
Hi VS. Good points again well made. Yes we need to get out of the current form. Personally, 352 with an improved Boufal could do it. But hey, who are we lol.

mitrovic anyone for 20m seems a good deal also proven in England already how he can't get in Newcastles team is beyond me.

08 Jan 2018 07:34:08
After yesterday my please god don't bid for Walcott. He was pony gold boots seriously when you put in a shift like that.

1.) 08 Jan 2018 17:14:56
And they want £30 million for him.

In one word: CRAZY.

01 Jan 2018 14:13:54
Whatever we are to do this window do it and live in otherwise 3-4 games played and no players brought in. Don't wait do your business and move on for once.

18 Dec 2017 08:37:37
If u believer the press Liverpool back in to VVD but want a discount on the 70 m quoted we need another club or two to come in and move him on hoedt Stephens should be the pairing. With yosh bendarek in reserve for all those who want reinforcements other than the strikers and the Redmond/ tadic role we are as strong as anyone with exception of possibly gk although there have been some signs of improvement there. I am not optimistic but we just need to get behind the team and encourage it's difficult I know when you spend money and have your weekend or evening ruined. COYR.

1.) 20 Dec 2017 12:09:16
I think Yoshida has earned himself a starting place, reckon he is tremendous. but. yes, agree with the rest! we are spoiled in the CB role.

09 Sep 2017 16:28:02
Hiw many more years in a row are we going to regress rubbish first 60 mins against an at best average Watford team with a manager who had no wins away from home last year. this is getting a joke play some aggressive pressing attacking football at leat if we lose then we have had a go no craft no guile no idea I bet gabbiadini wishes he didn't start with the average negative play that is behind him. No wingers everyone comes inside it is awful.

i think he would do very well on a limited budget especially if he involves the black box theory. most of our bad buys are when we have spent big.

big discrepancy in reported price 10-13m looks like very good business. please all remember mane though who didn't set the world alight at first and give the guy a chance. is clearly raw with skill and pace so let's get behind him and encourage him to try things. bring in a striker and a centre half and hopefully a good start to the season and let's look forward and be positive, really need to ship some out though to big a squad will stifle progress.

I don’t think we have space for him in the team could see possibly Lookman Adams and a centre half then outs a go hoedt Austin boufal classie Reed Targett or McQueen Gallagher and possibly Lemina if the right bid came in. Although in his day Lemina is world class and would walk into any team when fit.

Cédric has been found out teams actively target him high balls that he never wins Valery has massive potential 19 in a team shot of confidence has pace and fight. Leicester in the other hand Vardy has no class and his England days are over maddisson think he is the next David beckham but is more like the next David Bentley.
