If memory serves me correctly I seem to remember one of the Eds confirming Saints had an interest in Rico Henry, on one of the pages a few months back? Any updates Eds?

{Ed002's Note - There is nothing new right now Birchsaint - the expected offers for Southampton players like Juanmi, Wanyama and Mane are arriving and we all know what will happen - interest in the likes of Kapustka, Townsend, McGovern et al remains but the priority is to get a manager in place. It will be busier later on.}

Hi Eds, it was mentioned during the Northern Ireland game, that Poland's young midfielder Kaputska is close to joining the Saints, any truth in it?

Good to see koeman saga finally over seems strange we Are buying players without a new manager is it a case of he doesn't agree with the black box he is the wrong guy? Pele will have a few more admirers after last night like to see him stay though. Wanyama 11 m is a joke but final year of contract so who knows. Just for once be good to get ins and outs done quickly and have a full pre season knowing the squad. Finally Be interesting to hear if club have any parting shots for koeman.

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal have some specific targets which sees the club more than happy to move on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this summer. They are chasing a long list of young players from mainland Europe as they have to keep an eye on the longer term home grown status of players and have some more immediate targets that means they have to make some room in the squad. There has been a direct approach from Leicester and discussions with West Ham that involved another player - but that has gone nowhere. I suspect others will look at him - and whilst I don't know of any confirmed Liverpool or Southampton interest in him at this time it may not be totally out of the question.}

A more general note, if Everton join West Ham, City, United and Liverpool, declaring they want to overhaul/ improve there squad and have X hundred million to spend to do so. Firstly is there even enough 'top' players to go around, and will they all fight it out for the same players? Secondly by declaring the amount of money they intend to spend, won't it drive prices up further in an already inflated market?

The above point is quite a valid one although much will depend on the scouting structure of those particular clubs and their particular needs,Liverpool for one will no doubt throw daft money at anything,you should know being a saints fan,your club must have been laughing all the way to the bank offloading average players like Lallana Loovren and Scneidrling ( sorry about spelling) to Liverpool and Utd for silly money

Thank you for the info ED. I hope we can keep hold of him, although it seem like clubs will test our resolve.
A more general question and potentially stupid question. Do you think to much emphasis put on how 'good' a Cb is individually, as opposed to the defensive system they come from.
Following that last point, do you think that CB's are the hardest players to scout and find talent in?
{Ed002's Note - I think that fans may see it that way but clubs think about integration. Typically clubs find that out and out strikers are difficult to scout.}

What clubs are interested in VVD Ed's? Seem to be a lot of big fee's being banded around for CB's this window. Not surprising seeing as half of Europe's big clubs seem to be rebuilding.
