I am just wondering, does anyone else lie any blame of our horrendous season to the Chinese takeover that happened before the start of the season? A lot of blame on players and MP and Reed but I just thought that could be the real and omen?

City rumoured to have lowered Bonys price to around 13 million. Although he has been rubbish for city, at Swansea he was one of the best strikers in the league, big strong player proven in the prem, I dare say I'd like him at St Marys?

Pep doesn't want him, he could be the 20 goal a season striker we need, can't see it happening though.

2.) 07 Aug 2016 23:30:19
5ft 10in is not exactly big for a striker. Yes he was good at Swanea but didn't exactly have a good season with City even though he had plenty of chances. Rubbish in the premier last season and going to another premier club doesn't mean that he'd go back as a 20 goal a season player I'm afraid.

Saints could spend 13mill on somebody else which I'm sure that Claude would agree on. This is only my opinion chaps. Decent 1-0 win today with a crowd of just under 18,000. Roll on Watford and really looking forward to the new season. VvD took a bit of a knock and subbed -hopefully will be fully fit next Saturday. COYR's.

Went to post this yesterday. He is 5"11 and a half (ha) according to wiki. Surely a better option than slimani. Yes he hasn't had the best of times at MCFC but strikers need games and confidence, confidence comes with games and goals. 13m would be a steal.

4.) 08 Aug 2016 18:54:16
Apologies esso14, maths wasn't exactly my strength at school. Yes Bony is just shy off 6ft. But I still maintain that the next CF ( if we get one) won't be from this country. Yes if Bony went back to the form he was in at Swansea £13 mill would be a great outlay. Would saints gamble? Don't think so - shame an in form Bony would strengthen any forward line.

Striker and centre backs are a must. Anything happens to our main two and we are fielding Yoshida (We all know he's ****) and Gardos who in my opinion isn't at a solid playing level. For striker I think it is silly to rely on Austin considering he's prone to injury same with Jay, signing an Edin Dzeko type player and name would make me over the moon. For centre back I would have said Kalidou Koulibaly and we wanted him last season but cause of his performances his price will have sky rocketed and Chelsea are wanting him, lastly anyone else wanting a CDM? I know Romeu is the replacement, but still and yes we have Reed, but I'd want a new CDM to fill the gaps wanyama left, a big no nonsense power house like even Gardner or the tall swedish lad from Sunderland.

Hojberg is our Wanyama replacement we really don't need any more CDM's! I agree a forward and CB would be good, I reckon we'll sign a striker, hoping for a CB now too. Before I thought the club wouldn't bother signing a CB as we had a lot of cover in that positionn, but IMO we don't have enough quality behind Fonte and Van Dijk, but then we've just signed Pied as a better quality competition for Cedric, so who knows! Maybe Stephens is ready to step up!

Reports suggesting Swansea are putting in a 10 million bid for Nacer ChadlI. I understand we have lots of forwards but people like Jay are prone to injury and with us also in Europe. Chadli is a fantastic player especially for that price, just look at his minutes played and goals scored and assists for the past few seasons to see that, would love him in a saints shirt.

He also played with Tadic at FC Twente and so could link up well with him!

Hello all, I've been creeping on the site for the past year now and thought I would join already. Watching the first half of the DC vs saints game, I understand that it's a friendly, but I just don't know if I can trust Austin as our main striker? Looking forward to the next half to see Pierre play!

In fairness Puel had him out on the left. don't think he'll try that again (I hope) .

2.) 15 Jul 2016 19:52:08
Friendlies are exactly what they say - friendlies. Time to experiment and try new partnerships and positions. Probably tried Austin out on the left like sometimes they play long. jof33 has it spot on. Don't worry too much as the new manager will slowly but surely get the starting line up picked before we play Watford on the opening day of the season. Trust him to start with a rare opening day win. We March On.

3.) 15 Jul 2016 21:45:14
Don't worry you're not alone. He won't stay fit all season either. How did Pierre play?

4.) 16 Jul 2016 01:05:55
Højbjerg was on the field for 25 minutes, he seemed very calm and composed; it is hard to make a proper judgement so quickly, but he looked positive, no mistakes.

The standout performances were from Sam McQueen and Yan Valery (U18s) in the second half, the full game can be seen on Sains' Youtube Channel: the goals are in the 14th and 89th minutes.

5.) 16 Jul 2016 07:23:59
Long, Davis, Forster and Bertrand now returning to squad with Yoshida (who had visa problems) Just Fonte and Cedric to come. Now we will start to see a gradual change in squad formation. Austin and Rodrigues are fit at present and with training becoming more intense will be ready with all other squad players for another season . Austin was never expected to play the full 90 minutes but is an excellent player to bring on late in the game. Rodrigues will get better and better with increasing game time. The last friendly with F. C. Gronigen will show our new managers preferred line up . Can't wait for the new season. Won't finish top 4 but anything is possible and think we will finish top 8 at least. Onwards and upwards.

6.) 16 Jul 2016 16:57:45
Rumoured that Shalke in Germany are very interested in Dusan Tadic . Any info or ideas eds.? Thought that Reed was trying to extend his, and Rodrigues contract. Apparently our new gaffer was very pleased with our first friendly. Hopefully Sam McQueen and Gallagher will be given more chances of playing time that Pochinetto and Koeman were prepared to give them. COYRs.

{Ed002's Note - Schalke are interested in Tadic as a replacement for Sane but I suspect he will stay.}

7.) 16 Jul 2016 19:06:43
Thanks Ed002. Hope Tadic will stay as I believe he a had a couple of dust ups with Koeman last season . Hopefully the new gaffer will persuade him to stay. I rate Tadic. Also I think that a few youngsters will be tried out either in the JPT or premier league games. We have quite a few youngsters that I believe could hold their own in the premier. If not hopefully we farm them out on loans to get experience. COYRs.

Yeah near enough 100% sure we were targeting him last season before he left for Bayer04?Would be exactly what we need imo in someone who can score guaranteed and shows massive intent from the club, could help the signing of contracts from people like Dusan on the way.

Next season the league will be even more competitive, we need to bring in players we know can perform well. Even people like Bouffal I'm worried about not fitting in to the league! Definitely in need of a striker, defenders and keeper.
