Joe Aribo to sign from Rangers, looks a tidy midfielder, watched him a bit at Charlton and looked a great player. Has done very well with Rangers, £6m rising to £10m with add ons, high % sell on fee to Rangers if/when we sell him. Salisu to sign a new contract very soon. Looks like Bednarek will be the CB to move on, I guess keeping Stephens and selling Bednarek will free up some funds but still allows us to have a fairly experienced back up. Would like to see us linked with a few more attacking players. Would love to see Adamu or Madueke but think the latter would be pushing for a move slightly higher up the table. Still plenty of time left but an attacker sooner rather than later would be good so they can have a pre season.

@mlt7 agreed, we need at least 2 strikers in and ASAP! I keep hearing we are readying an offer for Neco Williams @20 million. Not sure how true that is, I personally think we have enough cover in that area. Strikers please Southampton!

Seen a lot of reports this morning that we are in for Charles De Ketelaere who can play CAM Winger and ST. Not sure how true it is as it needs to be a £30+ deal.

While I think we may need a striker,I also think we need more creativity in central midfield, someone who breaks the lines and runs past the striker. Think any striker would struggle with us at the moment.

Are you joking? we currently only have Che Adams and 2 goal a season Adam Armstong in the first team and below that next in line would be Dan Nlundulu who has just gone out on loan. We have to sign strikers 100 percent, no questions. We have all but confimed Rangers Aribo so there's your creative midfielder.No onto the strikers please Southampton.

Charles de Ketelaere will be joining AC Milan I believe. Think Liam Delap is a target for us, while I agree with the strategy of signing youngsters for smaller fee’s for then sell on for big profit from a business point of view, they need to remember that this is the Premier League, it can chew you up and spit you out at any time. We need to start signing experienced players too. Delap, Che and A. Armstrong aren’t going to keep us up unfortunately. Delap and a more experienced striker is a must. Issa Kabore of Manchester City is another youngster we’re being linked too. RB, spent last season on loan at Troyes. Apparently Nottingham Forest had a £17m bid rejected for him and are now focusing their attention on Neco Williams from Liverpool. I personally wouldn’t mind taking a punt on someone like Emmanuel Dennis from Watford, at least we know he can score in the Premier League! Be interesting to see how Mr. Shields gets on over the next week or two in his new role, hopefully he realises that experience is needed within this very young squad. We really really need a attacking midfielder, we’ve never really replaced Dusan Tadic, I know he was a frustrating character at times but my god could he be a game changer when he showed up. Another Dusan please Mr. Shields!

Is it just me or do others rate Dan Nlundulu whose gone out on loan to Cheltenham Town?
I’ve always thought he looked a handful (in a Broja sort of way) and had the potential to do well. He’s 23, physically tall, strong and I think would be worth a place on our bench certainly in front of one or two others we could all name.
Maybe the loan is his last chance to prove himself.
Maybe I’m just a lousy judge of forwards - I didn’t rate Shearer much in his first full season as a youngster at Saints!

Was told Williams was a done deal, it's now a no go. Tino Livramento is a go though, should join within the next few days, very highly rated at Chelsea, be great to get this one over the line.

SaintGGsy - that’s it for transfers? I have that feeling too (hope I’m wrong) . He now has cover at CB and FB with the boys from Chelsea, MC to be covered by Diallo and Armstrong. Forward line looking full too with 4 from; Ings, Adams, Walcott, Redmond, Obefemi, (Armstrong) and Tella. What worries me is that is nearly the same team as last season. A little bit of quality would be nice - especially at GK.

It seems that way Manny but we often pop up with a deal 3 hours after the deadline. I am fairly happy with the defence now, so much so I think our strongest formation is probably 5-2-3.
Perraud at leftwing back, Bednarek Vestergaard Salisu, KWP on the right - with Livramento, Stephens, Simeu and I wouldn’t mind Djenepo covering as a WING back as much. JWP and Romeu with Diallo back up then we have Djenepo, Adams, Armstrong, Walcott, Redmond, Tella wide, Ings up top - or Adams.
GK still poor but that won’t change, hopefully next season. Midfield is fine but light - I would just love love love Delaney.
Up front the A. Armstrong rumours won’t die, latest is apparently Obafemi +12m which is probably several million high but I think we need a goal scorer as Ings will get injured so we will see.

Apparently TeeJay RLC’S attitude sucks which is why no one has come in for him, similar with Ntcham who is now on a free. Definitely has potential but not paying any good money on another risk after we just got rid of Lemina.
Lookman would be great but shows how far we’ve fallen if Burnley beat us to him. Still need another attacker for certain, hopefully Ralph sees that or maybe a ST has to isolate in late August and so he has to go out and get someone as cover.

I see your point SaintGGsy about not wanting another player with a bad attitude. I just thought that at his age he might now be ready to settle down and let his footballing ability show. I remember watching him play his debut for England and thought he was going to be a top player.

I’ve seen Joey Veerman of Heerenveen linked with Rangers for between £4m - £8m. Personally think he’d be a great backup for us. I’d like to see us move either Long or Obafemi on and get someone else in, neither of them are Premier League quality. I don’t see why we’d need another CB with Stephens still here and Simeu coming into the club. Think another option on the wing would be nice should Elyounoussi leave. Would love to see us go for Ryan Kent but think he may be a little too pricey. Delaney would be great if we can get him.

Would be good business I think. Top scorer in the eredivisie for a team that got relegated. As such, shouldn’t be overpriced. I think €8m or so is quite realistic and if Ings does go, get Maitland-Niles and Armstrong/ Lookman for a combined £25m and it’s a good summer.
Long, Lemina, Forster out.
Simeu, Perraud, potentially another few in. I wouldn’t complain.

Think it’s to do with his age, players under a certain age always need a fee paying. One that sticks out to me is Harvey Elliott to Liverpool on a free transfer but due to his age Liverpool ended up paying about £7mil (could have been less) . I think us accepting a high sell on % has helped us to pay a lesser fee. We also won’t start paying the £1.5m until he actually starts playing in the first team so doesn’t go into this summers transfer budget yet (unless he starts first game of the season) .

If that’s the case then that’s a smart move. And from such a sell-on fee being reported they’re clearly expecting big fees being earned off him in future… hopefully this signals the end of Stephens starting league games.

That’s come from absolutely nowhere. And villa! Having sniffed around ward-prowse. Madness. Apparently it is £30m which is ridiculous, he’s £18-20m realistically so I’d definitely take it. But he wanted ‘European football’. No Grealish, and Buendia and Bailey incoming, I don’t think they’ll be doing as well as some think.
From what I’ve been musing over the last few days, that’s hopefully THREE incomings now. Spend the money. Get a forward. Get Delaney, Get AMN. Done. But wow, Villa? Still shocked.
